  • These really are great vids. I've been practicing for about 3 months and these videos helped me pick up things I didn't necessarily learn by myself

  • Awesome. I learned on a 7'2. i would def say move back a little bit, that board is big enough to hold someone 250 lbs or so easily... so if you are lighter (im 190) you should have no issues with nose diving other than with distribution of weight factors. Just keep your back foot on the pad or about 8 inches from the back of the board and then stand shoulder width apart from that or a bit more if it helps you squat better. if you stay back you can turn and 'pump' the board easier too.

  • I can turn and catch the wave and I have the right position. However almost every time I catch it when I'm ready to pop up the nose goes into the water and I wipeout. Help?

  • @Reesesp13ces Hey man... You should try standing back a little bit on the board. What size board are you using? You can also move your body to shift weight to your back leg if you have to.

  • @chupathang45 i learned with a 7'6'' longboard

  • 1:57 Dóh

  • I make all those mistake.

  • starts at 0:18

  • I'm having some problems with paddling when the wave lifts my feet up, I need some more detailed advice on catching it

  • when do you stand up when the wave kind of drops or before when you are getting pushed???

  • I went surfing for the first time today, alone..Thanks for the lessons :)

  • @GuyGroovey how did it go?

  • @cgreenmhd

Loved it :) It was very hard to catch waves, if I caught any at all... well, I didn't. But just relaxing on the board was awesome enough.

  • Another common error (i think) when catching the wave.... is sinking the nose ...

Im currently learning to surf and i've been there a couple of times (total wipeout).... hehehe

Thanks for the videos... really good tips man!

  • wait, do i need to learn to swim first?

  • i learned with a longboard

  • for learn to surf i need a longboard?

or i can learn with a shortboard?

  • @TheSerginho5 loongboard ;)

  • @TheSerginho5 u can learn with a shortboard but is harder and different...

  • @TheSerginho5 A short board is much harder and dependent of your size, nearly impossible. If you really want to go for the fast track to a short board than pick one that is around 6-10'' bigger than you and has a chest width around 20-45 (varies on your size). A fish board is a great board as well as an egg shape. Mind you, this will be costly and possibly painful. You must take care of your board and respect it. Fiberglass can hurt you.

  • @supercoolninjayo i have a shortboard 6'4

  • @TheSerginho5 Well if you are around 5'10'' it shouldn't be to bad in terms of balance, however, you still must take care of it. (not leaving it out in the sun for too long, don't lay it on a hard surf face, keep it safe, ect.) With fiberglass you also have to realize that it will break over time. I have a 7' foam that I have had since I was little and it still floats (despite me treating it like shit) but, my fiberglass board that I bought last year has pressure cracks in the side.

  • @TheSerginho5 I am not saying you made a bad choice, I am just saying you should be careful and be patient. It will most likely take you longer to learn and it may break before your first season is even through.

  • @supercoolninjayo thanks for the advice , today i have tried surf and is very difficult but with the time i can learn

  • @TheSerginho5 No problem and keep going for it. Give it about a couple of months and some dedication. You will be shredding in no time.

  • @supercoolninjayo thanks man :)

  • Hi Im going to use your videos to help me surf, really appreciate it :)

  • i luv u guys videos!! great job

  • song please ???

in the beginning of the lesson

  • Good videos, but not detailed enough. More substance is needed.

  • i have the same problem

  • Check how you pop up dude, make sure your not draggin your body forward when your preparing to pop up.

  • What does it mean that almost everytime I try to catch a wave, the nose of my board goes (nose-dives) under water? I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here.

  • you're standing too close to the nose of the board, so when you stand up than your nose is pointing downwards, and you nose dive.

  • LOL you were right, I really paid attention to what i was doing yesterday and I noticed that when ever i get ready to pop up that I drag my body forward some to get leverage. then once I get up on my feet im too close to the board an it just flys behind me. Thanks for that!

  • also instead of going straight down the wave, try going at an angle so you ride next to the wave, instead of going straight down it.

  • Well, I will try that but two days ago I split my board in half :(

It was a used board i got from craigslist so I think it was on its way out anyway because it was taking on water. So now I have to shop for a new board before I can try that. ON a side note i was very popular at the beach as I was walking with my board in two..lol Everyone wanted to talk to me. I'm going down to pacific beach tomorrow to find a new longboard.
