A more perfect Union, yes this was the vision of many of our founders more specifically Roger Williams and his colony. And my one of my favorite sayings is "America, the land that never has been, yet, and yet, must be." Yes there were alot of things done in American history by people who professed to be Christian but that does not take away that the founding was founded on Christian principles. And yet a more perfect union needs to be figured out in the future. But Sharia law is not good.
This is one of those videos that restores my faith in America. But, nonetheless I seem to find myself frowning upon it. I love, yet hate this nation I'm proud of. I'm a huge patriot, and yet not all at the same time. Hopefully though, one day we can achieve being a more perfect union... but it'll take a lot of work, but in the end, it would be hell of a worth it.

hey uh don't mean to offend but atheism is a creed in itself ironic that no religion is actually a religion but dang where im from the biggest thing we have to worry about is agnostic atheist .
Great video, but sadly has anyone looked at the countrys history and noticed the more diverse it gets ( or less white) the worse it seems to get at least when you compare crime rates from the 1960s to now?
America was founded as a christian nation that welcomed others, but the others seem to forget that chrisitanity is one reason we welcome others
@utubecenseorstruth Read the Treaty of Tripoli. "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"
Islam is a theo-political system and Sharia refers to the sacred law of Islam! It is not compatible with our Constitution and secular separations of church and state! Trials are conducted solely by a judge(no jury).Instead of precedents or codes,Sharia relies on medieval manuals and non-binding legal opinions, or fatwas, issued by religious scholars.Testimony from women is given only half the weight of men and testimony from non-Muslims may be excluded altogether! Just a few examples of proof!
@Idiocracy2040 You live up to your name. First, I wasn't aware America had colonies in 170. Second, how would the founding fathers draft something so early in the 1700s? Could they write as infants or something? Third, the USA was never predominantly white, not really. The land was never ours to start with. We stole it from someone else! Fourth, the Act was drafted. But when was it passed? Because as I recall, they left laws, and the Acts stemming toward those laws, open for revision.
I watched this video in school today. I am 16 years old and confident that we WILL have our "more perfect union" within my lifetime. And if we all just come together, it will happen within YOUR lifetimes, too.
I've watched this dozens of times now... and it makes me think about how much we have changed as Americans over the last 228 years, and how much we have not... and how much we will change in the future... and how much we will not...
EEvery time I read the phrase "more perfect" I cringe. There is no such thing as "more perfect". Perfection is the apex, going beyond perfection can only go down hill.
@TheLastguy0 Then you misunderstand the meaning of the phrase. "...in order to form a more perfect union" means that the Union is imperfect, not going above perfect. In fact it means that the Union will likely never be perfect, but we can always strive to make it better, and further it toward perfection.
I KNOW NOT ABOUT WHAT BOOK THEY HAD BUT LEFT ME TELL YOU SOMETHING RELIGION IS WHAT IS USED TO CREATE CONTROVERSY AMONGST THE PEOPLE. ISLAM SAYS ITS A WAY OF LIFE WELL, IF WE LIVE AND LET LIVE WE ARE HONORING THAT WAY OF LIFE. WHEN MANS ONLY PREY IS ANOTHER MAN HOW LONG WILL THAT MAN SURVIVE? WHEN WE ALL REALIZE THAT WE ARE EITHER MAN, WOMAN, OR BEAST/ANIMAL/DEVIL/ALIEN.
HAVE YOU GUYS EVER THOUGHT OF WHO GAVE RELIGION TO MAN AND WOMAN? AND WHY? DOES ANYONE HAVE POWER OR CONTROL OVER BELIEFS?
If sharia were allowed to be implemented, Muslims would be in effect living under a set of laws different from those everyone else lives under. This is not equality, and those whose aim is the acceptance of sharia in American society should not masquerade it as such. Sharia would just lead to more division, and that's the last thing we need as Americans.
@eier In some ways you are right, but this is already the case for most religious groups in America. For example, with the latest Health Care reform, health insurance plans must cover birth control as preventive care for women, with no copays. However, Catholic institutions can opt out of this measure on religious grounds. How is this any different from a Muslim seeking a Sharia-compliant mortgage? Or a Muslim wanting assurance that food purveyors can't lie about the origin of their Halal food?
@PrepareNY I hadn't considered those situations, but I was thinking more along the lines of "modesty" codes for women and sharia courts. I admit to knowing little about what these would actually do, but I fear for the worst. I don't want to allow Islamic courts operating within the United States to chop off someone's hand for stealing. This breaches the Constitution's protection against cruel and unusual punishment.
@eier I don't want to see a court chopping off people's hands either and since we are a secular society governed by a Constitution, that will never happen. In fact, Sharia law requires Muslims to follow the laws of the land in which they live. Sharia is a code of personal conduct not a code to be imposed on non-Muslims. Therefore, the fear of Sharia Law taking over American courts is a manufactured fear. Check out the report "Fear, Inc." put out by Center for American Progress.
@eier Please also check out the Resources section of our website. There is a Curriculum there that consists of a series of fact sheets that is pretty digestible and easy to navigate. Also check out the Live Chat Transcripts, particularly the ones with Wajahat Ali and Burton Visotzky. Thanks!
@eier Shiiit, try being wiccan! we are still being burned at the stake!, we wishwe had it as good as the native americans purge and trail of tears. Wheres my religious freedom, yeah thats what I thought!
@eier I think you're forgetting one thing, though. The Consitiution declares itself the Supreme Law Of the Land, we would need another constitution to do this. Also, the US constitution does not establish religion, in fact it seperates the two, so something like this would not be possible. Also, people have the right to live under a self imposed law if they so desire, as long as it does not take anyone else's rights away. This type of talk just rasies unnescessary fear in people and is baseless.
I had that very thought: We are all descendants of immigrants and we fight against immigrants.
"Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information and religions destroy spirituality."
I've always felt the United States' response to the devastating events of September 11th should have been peaceful and reflective of our humanity. I created a video and posted it on my channel to honor those who lost their lives that morning and in the wars that followed. Peace is possible, but it has to start somewhere.
Sends such a powerful message I believe everyone should see.
Put differences aside, we are all people, we all think the same, were all one race, lets just work together. God Bless not only the USA, but the entire world and everyone on it.
Religion is holding the world back. It's all too evident that religion and community are not synonymous and lead to segregation, persecution .... and the list continues.
This is not about creating a more perfect union....this is a religious propaganda video.. If everyone stopped believing in magic people and more in themselves we would not have these problems.
@IKSDoomie No... this is a propaganda video for tolerance. In some of the most divisive issues in the history of mankind, such as race, ethnicity, classism, and yes, religion or "magic", we as a people is that we seek a union of respect for all citizens regardless of their beliefs. What a horrible thing it is to respect your fellow man, eh? But... it is your right to hold that belief. Which is precisely why this video is such a beautiful thing.
I am one of those that responded on 9-11 and I can tell you I have had it with all that know what really happened. What happened is that people died and crazy people do it. I posted my video about my ten years later and how I felt then and now. Please take a look you might like what I have to say
Think....there has been SO MUCH INFORMATION given in such SHORT time....But America...LEAD. We are the people! There may be destructive people out there, without peace...they may have never been shown....WE ARE STRONG, and we must remain that way, because where one soul is dying for freedom there is one lying captive.....We must continue and NEVER forget who we are
We are gathered here today on this page, featured on the internet..... YouTube page, We The People"....I say, "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" (Patrick Henery...lol)" My name is DownwHarmony, real name Angel! is lol :D (Is true) I once heard a man tell me that my name means something...In that case, I am an Angelic messenger :D WE ARE THE PEOPLE....ya know? What have we not been taught about peace so far? IT IS LOVE, we know each other! DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!! Tell your story it is u
Strange that when the majority of the Catholic Irish came to America in the 1850 they were the first to take to the streets in protest of the Civil War and started the Draft Riots. Strange too that Cotton from the South went to the fashion industry controlled by the Jews and the Jewish firm Lehman Brothers who were cotton brokers helped finance the South.
This seems to be targeted against the "Protestant" religion. Certainly there has always been dissonance. Interesting that America is made up of so many different religious groups. A country established by Protestants and for the most part controlled by them allowed so many others in? Odd, that the first Western group of people to allow Jews to settle in their country were the Protestant Dutch.
@greaterlightify This video is not "targeted" against anyone. It is meant to inspire a conversation about what it means to be a more perfect union. What does it mean to seek or to claim religious freedom for all. How have we done that in our past as a country? When have we fallen short? America is a great country, ever aspiring to be an even greater country. Freedom is essential but it comes with a lot of growing pains. That's the intent of this video produced by an interfaith coalition.
THE PERFECT UNION PLAN WAS TAKE OVER OUR FREE NATION AND REPLACE IT AS AN INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY. AMERICA IS THE ENTIRE WORLDS SLAVE INSTITUTION. THEY ALL TOOK PART IN THE COLONIZATION OF AMUIRIKA, WE HAVE BEEN UNDER ATTACK BY TERRORIST WAY WHEN WE SEE THAT GOVERNMENT CANNOT DO THAT WHAT WE DO NOT SAY THEY CAN DO. IF THE GOVERNMENT WAS CREATED BY THOSE WHO CHOSE TO BE GOVERNED AND WE DO NOT CHOOSE TO BE THEN WHY DO WE VOTE AND PAY AND SUBMIT, WHY ASK FOR WHATS OURS TAKE IT BACK IF ITS OURS!!
@vivaciousvanessa1973 note to viv, the caps don't help your point. As for religion, the point is unity to the believers of that particular faith, and the first amendment calls for respect to the nonbelievers of any given faith. As for slavery, how are americans slaves? Certainly they struggle to pay their corporate overlords to afford food and shelter at times, but they lawfully have the right to organize and effect change. In fact, the founding fathers said precisely that. Love, and let love.
My opinion of the never ending reminder to 9/11 watch?v=RFZrzg62Zj0, im not a mean person, i DO feel for those familys who lost their loved ones, but stop reminding us of a tragedy, us as americans need to look foward, no look back.
@PrepareNY My point is that currently there is a push in the Muslim world to regain power, by any means necessary. Since Muslims consider themselves part of the ummah or worldwide Muslim community, American Muslims must make a better effort to express their allegiance to the US and the principles upon which it is founded, even when those principles conflict with Islam. That means freedom of speech to be critical of Islam, equality of rights for women, equality for gays, etc.
@rozchatt Valid points. But unwise ones. Those that do not hate can grow toward such ends. Openly permitting criticism of all muslims only deepens the schism with Islam's followers. Same goes with that approach to feminists, homosexuals, etc.
IF YOU WANT TO BE FAIR ABOUT IT, DO A VIDEO ON ANY MUSLIM DICTATORSHIP THAT ENACTS SHARI'A LAW, THAT APPROVES OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING THEIR YOUNG GIRLS AND BOYS, THAT BELIEVES IN CASTRATION AND FORCED MARRIAGE ON THEIR YOUNG GIRLS, AND BURIES THEIR DEAD WOMEN IN UNMARKED, SHALLOW GRAVES OUT IN THE MIDDLE NO WHERE BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER WORTH MUCH IN THEIR LIFETIME.
AMERICA HAS NEVER CLAIMED IT WOULD ALWAYS GET IT RIGHT, BUT IT SURE AS HELL KEEPS AT IT. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Let's not also forget the Germans that were killed in the United States when we went into WWI. Many were lynched, had their homes destroyed, shot, and businesses burned to the ground.
The Bill of Rights says all men are created equal. That means all adult white males. women, children and non-whites were considered property. When Lincoln freed the slaves he did not give them citizenship or rights.
Our country was developed by hypocrites and is still governed by hypocrites
@Idiocracy2040 Also, to say that America was intended only for white christians discredits the brave black and native American soldiers who fought in the American revolution for their descendants and communities. Do not besmirch their sacrifice.
The video makes it clear that it is chronicling the struggle of the american people to create a "more perfect union," and part of that has been the updating of immigration laws to better reflect our country's needs and improving morality. The founding fathers had strong disagreements among themselves as to what the constitution and other early legislation of the US should be like, and the Naturalization Act of 1790 was one such document.
@cagedbirdflysfree Thank you so much for your comment. We can't grant you permission to use the video because the images licensed in it were licensed solely for this video. But we encourage you to check out the vast array of resources on our website that might help in your research. See description for the link. Best of luck to you on your documentary!
I'm all in favor for freedom and individualism. Religious freedom is tolerable and just because we tolerate doesn't mean we are weak and can be taken advantage of. This person who created this video clearly doesn't understand sharia law by any stretch of the means and it has nothing to do with fear. Its pure fact that to allow something that interfere with the Constitution itself is Unconstitutional. There are some things left be while others should be looked closely to. It is best this way.
@PrepareNY If this were a televised debate you'd lose...please explain yourself. Do you know what Sharia law entails? Whatever the message behind your clip was great up til the part you don't even know how to explain yourself out of. Sharia law is a form of government dictated straight from the Kuran where anyone who dares oppose will find themselves at the mercy of a gun. A religion that is tolerable is constitutional- sharia law is not tolerant and therefore unconstitutional. Get an education.
@strizhi Sharia Law is not a form of government. It is a religious code. Sharia is the system of moral guidance, which Muslims believe was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by God. It is a set of values, basic norms, and prescriptions for ritual, family and business life, comparable to magisterium/canon law for Catholics or Halakhah for Jews.
@strizhi Muslims who practice Sharia in this country do so on a voluntary, private basis. Essential dictates of Sharia involve, for example, practices such as daily prayers, fasting during the month of Ramadan, the use of marriage contracts and rules for giving charity and making investments. Muslims in the U.S. who follow these religious mandates do so without affecting the rights or practices of others.
@strizhi Islam makes a distinction between dïn (religion) and dawla (civil government). Dawla (civil government) protects basic secular matters, such as life, property and freedom. According to Islamic teachings, anyone living under the protection of a civil government owes obedience to that government.
@strizhi I wasn't aware they had guns back when they wrote the Quran... And just how tolerant are the other two monotheistic mammoths in the room? Let the muslims practice their faith, dangit! Because you have no idea what you speak of.
America has always been a beacon of hope and freedom and such hope has made this country what is it today. I hope my other country men see that all men are equally under whatever god they believe in "though i am christen to the soul" and continue to make this country a better place for the men and women that live within it borders. I hope we see no color nor religion when we look at each other, but see that each one of us are AMERICAN, that only want to better this nation and its people.
I support Sharia law and I support the westboro church and all it stands for. Maybe it will bring all this religious bullshit to a head and people will see it for what it is! Dangerous fiction!!!!!!
@somethingdiffereable maybe one day the people will agree with you... but it is not today. I think the WBC is horrible, because their message is horrible. Sharia Law on the other hand, is not the evil you imagine it to be.
Islam prohibits usury. America is about robbing the people, making them a slave for their entire life for the ruling elite. Islam cannot be tolerated in America, the land of debt slavery. If oyu don't believe me, check the numbers. Right now a record percentage of home owners are not current on their mortgage debt, a debt that demand interest for money that the bank created out of thin air when it was borrowed. Since the bank creates the money and not lend existing money, it is slavery.
A white Catholic and a Black Muslim who are rich will have breakfast together at the Ritz and discuss how to get more money for themselves. They will rather hang out with other rich people. A white Catholic and black Muslim who are mid class or poor will fight in the streets. A world controlled by the powerful will keep them divided over trivial differences such as race or religion, when class is re real divider.
Its like saying, man is man and always will be, if you dont like America, please try to understand that i think im the center of the world. You cant change me.
My answer: well try to go traveling in other countrys, learn how to be the minority and respect them, learn how to know people and overcome the walls your are creating, after you change, you are seeing the world differently, inside yourself, your racism, sexism, religion view will change radicaly. THIS...Period.
Any religion that goes against any nation's religious, political, ethical, and moral freedoms and liberties must never be allowed to exist, not allowed entry, must be stopped and reversed of all it's activities, and permanently exiled out of the United States. The dangerous religion is Evil Islam and Evil Sharia Laws which goes against God's ordained Judeo-Christian Euro-centric based-US Constitution!
Well, clearly i just don't see the point in all this, neither Religion. The only way History can repeat it self, is by the people who choose to let it be or duplicate. And YES! Religion and Belief is the cause of all this mess happening at this very moment.
Of the 7 primary founding fathers... one was orthadox christian. Several were, if not obvious in their time, discovered through their personal writings, downright anti-theist.
They were intelligent men, that doesn't lend itself as well to believing in ridiculous fairy tales.
They gave the ignorant masses the freedom to believe what they wanted, be happy with that, you can build and go to churches, keep your bullshit inside the doors.
@johnnyu278 I'm sorry, but not period. This country was founded upon fundamental Greek beliefs about the nature of democracy and its function in a republic, that to empower one faction(even christianity) was to endanger the balance of civil liberty permissible in a country where ALL men are created equal.
"I fully agree with General Washington, that we mustprotect this young nation from an insidious influence and impenetration, the Jews "In whatever country Jews have settled they have lowered its moral tone; depreciated its commercialintegrity; tried to undermine the Christian religionupon which that nation is founded, by objecting to its restrictions;have built up a state within the state; and when opposed havetried to strangle that country to death financially
/sigh not another film exhonerating islam and pointing the finger at xtians. Seriously, why does the left love islam? Think of EVERYTHING you hate about xtian identity... "islamic identity/Sharia" has these same qualities, to a much greater degree. Islam is far, far worse than xtianity has been in a very long time. Anti-sharia legislation would be a HUGE step forward for us. Who wants to see slavery return? Women re-subjugated? Gays persecuted? Jews pogrommed? This is Sharia. Look at Europe.
@Swiley11780 No it is not Sharia law. Well, yes it is but at the same time, it's different here in this case. In America we are to have seperation between church and state. The fundamentalist muslim countries do not. There is room for muslims to behave like muslims, but no room for consequences considered illegal. But you wouldn't understand that because you're right wing and don't believe in a rule of law by big government. You fear phantoms, Swiley11780.
I am a practicing Muslim, and I appreciate the freedom of religion I enjoy in America. It hurts me that many here perceive me and my fellow Muslims as some sort of evil, anti-democratic cult, carrying out a secret plan to destroy American freedom. We are humans, just like you. We love our families, care about the community, love our God, love the freedoms this country gives us. If you love your country and freedom, then don't be a bigot and stop spreading hatred. Peace to all.
sorry but this is bullshit propaganda. You're an ignorant moron for trying to blame the Christian. It's as retarded as blaming the Jews or the Muslims. You're doing exactly what you are condemning. FAIL
@rgs11 Did we watch the same video? Where exactly did it blame Christianity? Or are you saying that Christians by way of being Christians are incapable of evil?
one thing i must say i hate when atheists say if god is real y didnt he/she prevent this tragedy i realy hate tht because maybe somthin worse could of happened for all we kno
@MaxamillianArturo Google or Wiki "the Christian Identity movement" or "Christian Identity". There is not room to post all of it here. And while there have been plenty of terrorist attacks carried out by Christians, this video is specifically referencing the radical, fringe sect of Christianity.
@PrepareNY you mean acts were carried out by so called christians because a real christian would not have done these acts in the name of Jesus Christ.
@indman101 Research "Christian Identity." Eric Rudolph is an adherent of Christian Identity and he bombed the Atlanta Olympics (and committed a number of other bombings as well.) Your statement is a good one though. Most Muslims do not consider Muslims terrorists to be true Muslims, just as you do not consider Christian terrorists to be true Christians.
@indman101 and a real muslim would not have carried out 9/11. Radicals are in and from every religion. You shouldn't judge just because of a label. What are we, in high school?
@MaxamillianArturo Lord Salvation Army. IRA. KKK. What is the definition of a terrorist? Let's all work together to stop terrorism world wide. Despite religion, despite race, despite countries of origin. Let us stand together against those that wish to terrify us all into submission.
The leaders of this great Nation “judges, congressman and senators” are trading small trinkets of gold for personal gain driven by greed in exchange for our Prosperity, Freedom and self government.
This is muslim propaganda. Plain and simple. I will never live one nanosecond under the lying dog muslim sharia garbage. allah is NOT a real god, he was a demigod. A small, evil god. Only Jehovah, the G-d of Israel, is the REAL Creator of all that is. Videos like this are perpetrating the lies of islam. Please don't believe a word of it.
@CalypsoPeg4811 Is this when we state that there's no "J" sound or similar in the Hebrew language, so the name couldn't be "Jehovah"? And also to point out that the reasoning people use that pronunciation is because when the name of G-d is written in Hebrew, the vowels for the word "Adonai" are used instead. Because we don't know today what the name is.
@CalypsoPeg4811 That is your belief, and you have a right to it. However, I believe in Jesus, you believe in Jehovah, and you must understand that muslims believe in Mohammed. Maybe we are wrong to not worship Jehovah, but in the US, we have every right to make that mistake. You worry about your spiritual affairs, I'll worry about mine, and let them worry about theirs. And then let's all sit at the pub later and relate over a nice fish and chip.
British international bankers. We should have thrown all the loyalists into the sea after the revolution. Our freedoms have been taken with our money!
People talk like religion is the one thing that causes bloodshed. Realize that man in adherence to his ego will use anything as a basis for his beliefs and act out his anger or hatred. Whether it is Islam, Christianity, Judaism, or anything he holds as his creed. How bout this lets not use religion right now. Can anyone tell me which religions were at war in WW1, WW2, or even the Vietnam war? Capitalism and Communism were the main forces butting heads. They're kinda like a religion right.
@ZEOtheguardian Well as for the other two, idk, but WW2 was caused because Hitler wanted "the master race" to prosper and he wanted all others dead, especially Jews. But it's almost ironic in a way as he was raised and was Catholic. As for your last statement, no, they're not. Capitalism and Communism are different ways to control and regulate the economy, with free trade, or no. But Communism being so bad was mostly propaganda. Im honestly no expert so dont take anything badly.
@ZEOtheguardian And now it is Capitalism and Socialism. Playing out in the field of religion. Kind of like the Federal Law versus States Rights in the Civil War, played out in the field of race and jurisdiction.
Religion was never a big part of our history as this is trying to show, a government of religions, these did not shape our country, people shaped our country, advancement shaped our country, science shaped our country, you can sit here and watch this with its easy going music to try and get you to believe religion played its part, but it didn't. There is no freedom of religion, we don't accept we deny religions that are not are own, we deny people of no religion. Don't be fooled we are not equal
@joshuafatherofnoah I too believe in Jesus Christ and I believe this video teaches us to love our neighbors, and that if they slap our cheek for this, "we are to offer them the other."
Sharia Law is that...a law, within a religion and that means that if you have a legal problem with connections to Sharia Law, it should be decided inside the mosque, where your religion and law is taught, upheld and practiced, not in our American Constitutional court system that abides by a "Constitution" law which is our law...not your Sharia Law! Get it?
Try doing or saying what you want in the middle east!! They are the worst!! MLK would never to this very day be able to walk for equality in the middle east!!
@classicvox Yet more and more revolutionaries are popping up in traditionally muslim countries demanding reform. Actions speak louder than words, Vox. People are mobilizing for equality as we speak.
This is a stupid and pointless video, offering a bullshit narrative of american history yet pretending like all they want is "conversation". What a load of crap. You want to hear my thoughts? Then don't start by shoving your mamby pamby topsy-turvy tropes down my throat.
Islam is not just a religion. Islam is a political, legislative, and social system. Statistics show that as a nation's muslim population grows the nation becomes more violent and oppressive and muslim sharia law becomes more ingrained in civil law until Islam is the rule of law in that nation.
@johnnychemonic What is Christianity? What is Judaism? What is Deuteronomy in both? Have you studied religions? Have you read the Qur'an? Have you read the Bible? Have you read the Torah? The reason some come to the conclusion that Christianity and Islam aren't both like that is that the Bible is (for much of its contents) in chronological order as opposed to ordered by laws. Just like the Bible/Torah, the Qur'an commands Muslims to follow the laws of the countries they live in.
@TheBallplaya23 please see the facts you are asking for on the Prepare NY website. There is a great set of fact sheets that presents, in a well balanced way, the stats and other info on this topic.
@johnnychemonic Then what do you call Vatican City? I'm pretty sure you won't find any Islam there. Granted it's not violent... for now... Borgia, anyone?
The general message was good but useing george bush made me cringe because he was an inept, puppet, criminal, election steeling, conspirator and should have been impeached. So the entire time I am feeling the more perfect union I am being reminded how we got bent over by our elite oligarchs. Much of the film showing how we repeatedly fall back into fearful hypocratic persecusions is because of our lack of willingness as a polity to actually explore our differences within our educational system.
@grecorivera then perhaps we should start supporting, endorsing, and demanding reform in those institutions. After all, the point of education is to impart knowledge, and in the proper context, anything can count as knowledge. But no one ever said it wasn't risky to teach unconventional concepts. Then again, the pursuit of power is a risky thing; if knowledge is power then it follows that the pursuit of knowledge is also risky. Why? Because pure knowledge can cause change. Change turns tables.
Sharia Law is more than what it shown here it has a darker side as well Punishments that would break US laws if Sharia is allowed then It will be the beginning of the end for the US Constitution every country in the world that has allowed Sharia has adopted it as the primary LAW forcing non Muslims to convert to Islam or be beaten or killed , Don't believe the Propaganda do your research Islam is Bullshiting Americans
@StompingRabbits There are many comments on this page that "spell it out." Also please feel free to read the resources and fact sheets on our website.
@StompingRabbits You are mistaking a religious faith with actual law. In America we have the Rule of Law. The seperation of Church and State. Of course it is one law for all, you needn't reiterate that fact. But there are many faiths, and each of them have a place in America, and each one if different, with varying ideas. Some are controversial, like the WBC. Others are satanic, worshipping the devil. Others are mislabeled, like Sharia Law. Speak to a follower if you want the real truth.

TheLastguy0 5 months ago
@TheLastguy0 Then you misunderstand the meaning of the phrase. "...in order to form a more perfect union" means that the Union is imperfect, not going above perfect. In fact it means that the Union will likely never be perfect, but we can always strive to make it better, and further it toward perfection.

Sharia would just lead to more division, and that's the last thing we need as Americans.
eier 5 months ago
@eier In some ways you are right, but this is already the case for most religious groups in America. For example, with the latest Health Care reform, health insurance plans must cover birth control as preventive care for women, with no copays. However, Catholic institutions can opt out of this measure on religious grounds. How is this any different from a Muslim seeking a Sharia-compliant mortgage? Or a Muslim wanting assurance that food purveyors can't lie about the origin of their Halal food?
PrepareNY 5 months ago
@PrepareNY I hadn't considered those situations, but I was thinking more along the lines of "modesty" codes for women and sharia courts. I admit to knowing little about what these would actually do, but I fear for the worst. I don't want to allow Islamic courts operating within the United States to chop off someone's hand for stealing. This breaches the Constitution's protection against cruel and unusual punishment.
eier 5 months ago
@eier I don't want to see a court chopping off people's hands either and since we are a secular society governed by a Constitution, that will never happen. In fact, Sharia law requires Muslims to follow the laws of the land in which they live. Sharia is a code of personal conduct not a code to be imposed on non-Muslims. Therefore, the fear of Sharia Law taking over American courts is a manufactured fear. Check out the report "Fear, Inc." put out by Center for American Progress.

Strange that when the majority of the Catholic Irish came to America in the 1850 they were the first to take to the streets in protest of the Civil War and started the Draft Riots. Strange too that Cotton from the South went to the fashion industry controlled by the Jews and the Jewish firm Lehman Brothers who were cotton brokers helped finance the South.
greaterlightify 5 months ago
This seems to be targeted against the "Protestant" religion. Certainly there has always been dissonance. Interesting that America is made up of so many different religious groups. A country established by Protestants and for the most part controlled by them allowed so many others in? Odd, that the first Western group of people to allow Jews to settle in their country were the Protestant Dutch.
greaterlightify 5 months ago
@greaterlightify This video is not "targeted" against anyone. It is meant to inspire a conversation about what it means to be a more perfect union. What does it mean to seek or to claim religious freedom for all. How have we done that in our past as a country? When have we fallen short? America is a great country, ever aspiring to be an even greater country. Freedom is essential but it comes with a lot of growing pains. That's the intent of this video produced by an interfaith coalition.

vivaciousvanessa1973 5 months ago
@vivaciousvanessa1973 note to viv, the caps don't help your point. As for religion, the point is unity to the believers of that particular faith, and the first amendment calls for respect to the nonbelievers of any given faith. As for slavery, how are americans slaves? Certainly they struggle to pay their corporate overlords to afford food and shelter at times, but they lawfully have the right to organize and effect change. In fact, the founding fathers said precisely that. Love, and let love.

That means freedom of speech to be critical of Islam, equality of rights for women, equality for gays, etc.
rozchatt 5 months ago
@rozchatt Valid points. But unwise ones. Those that do not hate can grow toward such ends. Openly permitting criticism of all muslims only deepens the schism with Islam's followers. Same goes with that approach to feminists, homosexuals, etc.

@Idiocracy2040 Dear idiocracy,
The video makes it clear that it is chronicling the struggle of the american people to create a "more perfect union," and part of that has been the updating of immigration laws to better reflect our country's needs and improving morality. The founding fathers had strong disagreements among themselves as to what the constitution and other early legislation of the US should be like, and the Naturalization Act of 1790 was one such document.

It is best this way.
strizhi 5 months ago 2
@strizhi Sharia Law does not interfere with the Constitution.
PrepareNY 5 months ago
@PrepareNY If this were a televised debate you'd lose...please explain yourself. Do you know what Sharia law entails? Whatever the message behind your clip was great up til the part you don't even know how to explain yourself out of. Sharia law is a form of government dictated straight from the Kuran where anyone who dares oppose will find themselves at the mercy of a gun. A religion that is tolerable is constitutional- sharia law is not tolerant and therefore unconstitutional. Get an education.
strizhi 5 months ago
@strizhi Sharia Law is not a form of government. It is a religious code. Sharia is the system of moral guidance, which Muslims believe was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by God. It is a set of values, basic norms, and prescriptions for ritual, family and business life, comparable to magisterium/canon law for Catholics or Halakhah for Jews.
PrepareNY 5 months ago
@strizhi Muslims who practice Sharia in this country do so on a voluntary, private basis. Essential dictates of Sharia involve, for example, practices such as daily prayers, fasting during the month of Ramadan, the use of marriage contracts and rules for giving charity and making investments. Muslims in the U.S. who follow these religious mandates do so without affecting the rights or practices of others.
PrepareNY 5 months ago
@strizhi Islam makes a distinction between dïn (religion) and dawla (civil government). Dawla (civil government) protects basic secular matters, such as life, property and freedom. According to Islamic teachings, anyone living under the protection of a civil government owes obedience to that government.
PrepareNY 5 months ago

Islam prohibits usury. America is about robbing the people, making them a slave for their entire life for the ruling elite. Islam cannot be tolerated in America, the land of debt slavery. If oyu don't believe me, check the numbers. Right now a record percentage of home owners are not current on their mortgage debt, a debt that demand interest for money that the bank created out of thin air when it was borrowed. Since the bank creates the money and not lend existing money, it is slavery.

Whether it is Islam, Christianity, Judaism, or anything he holds as his creed. How bout this lets not use religion right now.

Get it?
klg1956 6 months ago 2
@klg1956 And of course, Constitutional law supercedes fundamentalist or sharia law. Case and point? Cruel and unusual punishment.

Try doing or saying what you want in the middle east!! They are the worst!! MLK would never to this very day be able to walk for equality in the middle east!!
classicvox 6 months ago
@classicvox Yet more and more revolutionaries are popping up in traditionally muslim countries demanding reform. Actions speak louder than words, Vox. People are mobilizing for equality as we speak.

This is a stupid and pointless video, offering a bullshit narrative of american history yet pretending like all they want is "conversation". What a load of crap. You want to hear my thoughts? Then don't start by shoving your mamby pamby topsy-turvy tropes down my throat.
muel0341 6 months ago
@muel0341 yet you contribute to the conversation with that comment. Besides, it didn't say anything that wasn't true.
danielcontoro 5 months ago
@urautubeloser1 Actually, you are wrong. Unfortunately. I will have someone post more details for you later. Thank you for your comment.

Islam is not just a religion. Islam is a political, legislative, and social system. Statistics show that as a nation's muslim population grows the nation becomes more violent and oppressive and muslim sharia law becomes more ingrained in civil law until Islam is the rule of law in that nation.
johnnychemonic 6 months ago
@johnnychemonic Which statistics?

@PrepareNY The statistics he just pulled from his ass.

SuburbanShinobi8000 6 months ago
@johnnychemonic What is Christianity? What is Judaism? What is Deuteronomy in both? Have you studied religions? Have you read the Qur'an? Have you read the Bible? Have you read the Torah? The reason some come to the conclusion that Christianity and Islam aren't both like that is that the Bible is (for much of its contents) in chronological order as opposed to ordered by laws. Just like the Bible/Torah, the Qur'an commands Muslims to follow the laws of the countries they live in.
DarkAnderebu 6 months ago
@johnnychemonic You realize Sharia law is no different than Halakha right? Do you even know what Sharia is? lol

The general message was good but useing george bush made me cringe because he was an inept, puppet, criminal, election steeling, conspirator and should have been impeached. So the entire time I am feeling the more perfect union I am being reminded how we got bent over by our elite oligarchs. Much of the film showing how we repeatedly fall back into fearful hypocratic persecusions is because of our lack of willingness as a polity to actually explore our differences within our educational system.
grecorivera 6 months ago

@GrayWulf316 This is not true. Please see the Sharia fact sheet on our website under the sub-tab "Curricula by Tanenbaum" which is under "Resources".

danielcontoro 5 months ago
@StompingRabbits You are mistaking a religious faith with actual law. In America we have the Rule of Law. The seperation of Church and State. Of course it is one law for all, you needn't reiterate that fact. But there are many faiths, and each of them have a place in America, and each one if different, with varying ideas. Some are controversial, like the WBC. Others are satanic, worshipping the devil. Others are mislabeled, like Sharia Law. Speak to a follower if you want the real truth.
