Very Helpful - can you tell me why the p9x79Pro instead of the Rampage Extreme IV. Do either have Firewire, if not how do I add? I am not a gamer, but want fast HD Video editing - what mobo would be best for me?
@rfmemail P9X79WS workstation mobo!!! I just ordered it with the Intel 3960X LGA 2011 processor and 32gb 2133hz ddr3 ram, two Dell U2410 IPS monitors, AMD Firepro V7800 3D video card, 2 ssd (120gb for OS, 250gb for programs) and 4 2tb 7200rmp hard drives for Raid 5 and much more and will be posting the build in a couple weeks when every component is here. This will be a professional video editing system for Adobe CS5.5 Master Suite running on Window 7 Professional.
well, i know u gonna hate but here it goes: Asus sucks(i has a bad mobo that they refused to trade), compared with msi it has less quality, and stability, and also seems flimsier(i has bad engrish!)
Sorry to hear about your negative experience my opinion is of course bias but I would disagree with your statements and hope through time and experience with using our products your opinion and outlook changes. Thanks for the view.
@ASUSIlluminati Hehe no problem. I actually don't own any Asus products but I am planning to do my next build using one of your z68 boards and possibly your gtx 570 tri-slot if my budget will permit it. That card is a bit expensive in my country. By the way I wonder if you can help me. Do you know if the antec Kuhler 920 will fit in the 400r? I just moved my system in it and am thinking of using that cooler for my future build. Thanks in advance.
Sorry to hear your negative experiences but would like to point out we continue to be the number vendor year after year on a global level and used by more system integrators than anything other vendor due to our reliability and consistent quality and performance. While i can understand and respect your perspective due to the experience you have had with our product it is atypical. Regardless thanks for the view and support.
580 would be a great upgrade from a 285 especially if you are running a resolution that will showcase the performance offered. In addition the card would also be quieter under idle and load operation does not get much better than that. Thanks for the view and support.
ASUS boards are excellent when it comes to performance, but unfortunately are not longlasting and have reliability issues, die or start giving problems after 1 yr ! of high use ! i had a asus motherboard die on me, on many ocassions since 2009 i am using a gigabyte mobo and i am still running the same in 2011 without any reliability issues !
Thanks for the open and honest feedback but I would strongly disagree with your statement if we had worse long term reliability than other vendors we would have not been the first vendor to standardize 3 year warranties or 5 year for SABERTOOTH. In addition we maintain our position as the world’s number 1 selling board vendor because of our quality and stability. In addition this has help ensure we are used by more system integrators than any other vendor. Thanks for the view.
As I noted to a previous user my apologies on the negative experience you had but our overall track record has validated our long term reliability. While i can understand and respect your perspective due to the experience you have had with our product it is atypical. Our consistent long term reliability, quality and above average performance has given confidence to more users and system integrators than our competitors. I hope in the future you have positive impression.
Erik is new to being in the videos but is a great guy and has been helping with getting videos more polished you will definitely see more of him so watch out. Thanks for the view and support.
Corsair is a great vendor one of many we work with and they have been supportive in providing product during our build considerations on top of that though they make some of the best component hardware on the market and work well from a performance standpoint as well as value and quality of design. Thanks for the feedback and support.
@MrAvatar9999 Have the back fan to blow the air out,it's best to blow air in from the top so that the top part of the motherboard is cooled, the fan on the front will pull air in but it won't reach the top of the motherboard that easy,so that's why pulling air in from the top is best for the X79
That is right if you have watched my other videos this is what i have recommended it is really key for this platform especially once you OC passed 4.4 or 4.5GHz.. Thanks for the view and support.
Thanks for the feedback i will check it out. Carbide has been tough to beat for 100 dollars but i will definately check out the Sorprano. Thanks for the view and support.
LOL i think alot of people are in the same boat .... wanting to build an ultimate box. Thank being ntoed the base components are really just the cpu and motherboard which is actually pretty doable for an enthuiast build ( K part with a Pro or SABERTOOTH. Thanks for the view and support.
awesome post man, jus wondering if you plan to post a video on how to set up a ram disk for games e.g mw3/bf3 it sounds like it could help it run alot faster, i have 16gb of corsair vengence 1866mhz dual channel, is this efficient enough to set up a ram disk? thanks in advance :)
