okayyyyyyy - and i am the Easter Bunny. The movie had about as much relationship to the book as Hollywood history movies have to what actually happened. Compare Dune to LOTR for example: the former takes amazingly silly detours from the book, while the latter is very close (although i still think they should have included Bombadil, lol!!). Dune the movie was a complete abomination.
@HolyMotherofGrid - can't compare the two - Lynch and Herbert wanted to make a 6-8 hour mini series style movie for Dune - the producers said there wouldn't be an audience for a movie series that long, hence the compressed nature of the movie...personally I think that with the constraints placed upon it, Dune does very well...I liked it and still watch it ocassionally - read all books as well.
I would like to see a Proper remake of this without either compleatly missing the point of the Book or having silly outfits and bad acting of the last botched attempt. Tbh I think this is the best of the two but seriously go read the book -)
Proper remake is impossible in the current Hollywood environment. Even if you involve Lynch. Since the millennium, Hollywood has been feebly churning out useless pictures with ever decreasing quality. Given the number of movies made I'm surprised every single year that there is still about four or five movies worthy of an Oscar nomination. They would focus too much on effects and the story would suffer, not to mention actors would probably be picked to kill all incentive to see it.

poor frank herbert, he must be so sad in his grave. This is so wrong in so many levels it makes me cry. Please read the books, dont watch this desacrated movie version.
He also wrote God Emperor of Dune and Rebels of Dune - two of the worst Sci-fi books in the history of the universe..... he was an enigma!! Thank goodness he TOTALLY redeemed himself with Chapterhouse Dune, which was every bit as good as Dune itself, and removed the sour taste from the movie endorsement and the previous two bombs.... he went out in style and with the utmost of class, for which i was truly grateful.
I may get a thumbs down for this but... I think they could have said "Sally go brush your teeth"...or better yet "Butt wash" and those weapon things would have fired off.
Dont get me wrong, big fan of Dune (book and film). And of Kyle and Lynch. And i know the wierding modules were mentioned in the glossary of the original book. But wtf were they thinking. The Fremen were hard enough without silly weapons
LOL It's Topher Grace from "That 70's Show" (yes I know it's Kyle McLaughlin)
Muad'dib, the killing name, that's step 1. Step 2, now pit it against Fus Ro Dah!

Frank Herbert was also right about sound weapons. "Some thoughts have a certain sound". Jericho in Old Testament proved it...

When he is talking about thoughts and stuff in the begining, it reminds me of Synesthesia!

In the first few seconds, the guy on the left has something that looks like a Fat Man from Fallout 3.

Fucking travesty....someone slap the shit out of the director for poor Frank Herbert. "My name is a killing word" is NOT from the book.
