I'm amazed that almost every technique i enter in the youtube search engine, i end up with a Ken Primo video. Keep up the great work man, you're dominating youtube.
great wrestling. a little more then just a single leg take down though. lots of moves that need to get broken down before a person can actually accomplish this series. once again thank you for the vid. uro pavi darkside mma.
To say this doesn't work in a street fight isn't true. It's like saying you can't punch someone if the face in a street fight because they will kick you. Every move has a counter and it's just a case of knowing how and when to execute it. Great vid with clear instruction.
Well broken down. The more we know about the individual technique, the better we can adapt it to other styles (to all the lame "that's not mma" comments people)
Question for the poster: In wrestling, if they spin with you before you can capture the second leg, would you still hold onto the (first captured) leg and take side control?
i always thought this was the stupidest take down. it works great for wrestling or bjj only but in a real fight someone will knee your face and knock you out so easily.
@jf1gd2 dude this is a wrestling move who cares about a street fight you wouldent use technical wrestling moves in the street anyway maybe a few but thats it
@jf1gd2 Check out the story at the TMZ website titled "HERO Who Stopped Knife Maniac Gets UFC Praise". It looks like this did work in a real life fight.
@daddypedro thats cause people who carry knives are too weak or dont know how to fight without a weapon. try this on a person who can fight and you will get ktfod for being stupid enough to stick your face down there.
@jf1gd2 The point is you made a blanket statement which isn't true. You said it wouldn't work in a street fight, and you were wrong. And then you say that people who carry knives are too weak. People don't carry knives in a ring, or in a cage, they carry knives IN THE STREET! And apparently, the guy used a single leg takedown to stop a guy, carrying a knife, IN THE STREET! Do you disagree with that statement? If you do disagree, it's totally nonsense. It's that simple.
@jf1gd2 the guy in ny who took down the dude stabbing people took him down with this move, get in a fight with him and i'll bet he does the same to you.
@raisitup the guy in ufc who did this to james irvin wound up getting knocked the fuck out and carried on a stretcher. try this move on him and i'll bet he does the same to you.
@jf1gd2 Unless it's 1v1 on the street, purposefully taking any street fight the ground is stupid. However, if it is just 1 on 1, no, a leg takedown (when properly executed) can be extremely effective. That's why you see fighters in sport MMA use them despite the fact knees are allowed. It's all just about being fast, smart, and having good form.
@jf1gd2 Tell that to Kazushi Sakuraba who's taken down some of the best strikers in their prime, in Pride with more relaxed rules on knees to the head, with that "stupid" move. Learn before posting child ;)
@jf1gd2 wrong. An untrained member of the public used this move to take out a mass killer in New York "Lozito, a Lincoln Centre ticket seller who has never trained in mixed martial arts but has watched the ultimate-fighting sport since 1993, said he fought back with a move known as a single-leg takedown."
ken, just curious... if i drop my knee to the mat and extend my right leg, i can no longer drive into my opponent. if i dont get the single leg straight away, i have to make another step and drive. does that make sense. thanks for the vids
I have yet to see a bad video from this guy, excellent videos no bullshit outdated techniques that are all smoke and mirrors. Thanks I can't wait to try these out at the gym.
