  • Lotta hate in these comments from both sides. Too bad. Phil deserved better.

  • Mediocre artist has to have his mommy in the audience...no talent, and his mom banged a nigger, WHO GIVES A FUCK!He is a talentless PLAGIRISER!

  • @DaBoyzInGreen Look at him, his hair is all fucked up, HE'S all fucked up.He had no talent, he whacked at a fucking bass and made mediocre pop music. He's not Malmsteen man, he's a fucking dead junkie...why do people think this fuck had talent?I cold play bass better, harder, faster, in a month. He's a fucking loser...

  • @DanielDumile Why are you looking at Phil Lynnott videos on You tube? If you don't like him, fuck off! Go watch Malmsteen wanky shit guitar videos and jack yourself better, harder, faster for a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gatorsofdoom He had no talent, all of you are just mad because you have good memories of this time...well, that time has passed so SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DIE!

Dead talentless nigger, who gives a fuck?!

  • @DanielDumile How old are you? Do you have mental difficulties? Seriously, stop watching Philo videos and commenting on them. Stick to the shit you know about. Your views are not welcome. Just look at all the positive responses you're getting. You're quite the charmer. Shut the fuck up and Die? Take your meds and stick your head back up your arse!

  • @gatorsofdoom He's a dead junkie. Are you an advocate for heroin? What is the big deal about this guy!

I can play bass with a broken arm better than this skag head!

  • @DanielDumile SHOW SOME RESPECT YOU DISRESPECTFUL LITTLE PRICK

  • @DanielDumile youre almost a big an asshole as yngwie paganni plagariser .

  • @phunkyboy Oh well, to bad this nigger is dead!

  • @DanielDumile He'll be remembered and loved long after you shuffle off this mortal coil. You'll never understand why he was loved. You'll die a lonely man. Your a lonely man to be coming out with nasty racist comments like that lad.

Start doing things in life that are worthwhile, so you don't have to hate on dead ppl to try and make yourself seem worthwhile. You do realize that your hate is a clear sign of your own self hatred, do you know about that pyschology? Ppl who spew groundless, baseless hate actually hate themselves becuase of their own inadequacies their own uselessness. Get help

  • @SouthernCross33 Yeah yeah yeah, too long didn't read.

Why you all ass hurt over a super-mediocre dead nigger junkie?

Are you a flaming faggot? He had no talent and was only popular because there are a lot of faggots around like you!

  • what a delightful interview...never seen this,absolutely brilliant,fag in mouth sitting back,mamy in the audience,gaybo at his best!good stuff!

  • Phil was genius. He wrote a lot of good songs. He was all about dedication and it came through in his music. We all have flaws and vices...so leave this man alone, even if he didn't use drugs you would still never realize how great he was nor respect his talent. Half this world numbs themself up on booze just because it's legal but maybe just a few people could put on a show like Phil. Rock took a turn for the worst when we lost this man. Freaking true genius!

  • another human being wasted on MAN MADE HEROIN

  • Phil Your A Legend, R.I.P.

  • rip philo your sorrowly missed, my dad has told me he knew phil and said he'd go out of his way to talk to you and was a pure gentleman, its amazing how he inspired some of the biggest, best and most influential musicians in the world like slash and james hetfield, if phil didn't do it there'd be no guns n roses nor metallica, all it took was an irish man

  • What a lovely clip! Lovely man! I was too young to see this at the time it was broadcast, so great to see it now! thanks for putting up this interview. Very nice!

  • i love how doen to earth gay was, great interview thanks to two geat men

  • Slag Gay off at your peril, I grew up with him on TV and looking back at these interviews am confirmed in my view that he was an outstanding interviewer - slow, sensitive, non-interruptive - he let the interviewee speak. Lots of the new folk could learn from this. Slow down and let 'em chat!

  • @claney01

gay Byrne is a patronising turd. His interview with Anniw Murphy is beyond a disgrace.

  • @claney01

Gay is as patronising as they come. An utter arse.

  • @mindhead2005 Your view, not mine.

  • @claney01

And its a view I'll stand over. Sensitive? Ha!

I don't know if you remember his interview with annie Murphy, where he as good as called her a liar, because Bishop Eamon Casey was a friend of his. A disgrace.

So much for his impartiality. He couldn't hold a candle to a aproepr interviewer like Parkinson, because his massive ego meant he could't NOT colour the interviews with his own opinions, and ultimately use them to push his own fame rather than the interviewee's

  • Does someone have part 1 of this?

  • a irish legend never forgotten in your music R.I.P my freind :(

  • i fukn love philip big time

  • Smoking on TV. Those were the days, man.

  • @Fergananym yeah its a bit mad seeing that!

  • 5 *****

  • What an absolute tragedy, and how prophetic to say Lizzy had at worse 3 years.

  • What an absolute tragedy.

  • Well at least he died on a perfect night. Thank you for what you brought to the world Phil Lynott. A true rock legend.100% respect.

  • Definitely from 1978 - I watched it live

  • MyMadra - the newspaper article was a very interesting read - thanks for posting the link

  • @rorygallag no problem mate! BBC4 9pm this coming Friday (21st Jan) if you have access to BBC there is a brand new documentary on Lizzy, presumably to tie in with the 25th anniversary. Don't know if it'll be any good, but it was worth mentioning in this months issue of Classic Rock magazine so give it a try :)

  • An endearing piece of footage. Thanks for posting, I love to hear Phil speak and to hear his slant on things, he seemed like the nicest of guys.

  • Thumbs up for mulatto rockers!

  • i met this guy when i was a child,i was with my grandad in a pub on caple street, dublin called "the boars head".philo bought me a bottle of coke and a packet of crisps,i couldnt wait to get home and tell my mother about the man with the "funny hair".thanks for the memory philo, ill never forget you :)

  • @LeBearExtrordinare awesome.

  • What year is this? Sure would love to see the rest. Where's pt 1? Pt 3? Phil was not just a great rocker, he was a great artist. He seems too smart to have fallen into heroin. Philomina is a very pretty woman. She must have felt devastated when Phil succumbed to the heroin abyss.

  • @gatorcarter Phil said he was 30 so that would make it 1979

  • @dirmo77 he was born in 1949 but maybe he was just abit to drunk to get it right!!

im not slagging him off, He was a great man for the irish music businnes. and will always be love by alot of us.

  • There were actually plans to make a sort of bio- movie about the life of Jimi Hendrix even back in those days i clearly remember reading at that time ;and PHIL was also asked to play the leading role(JIMI)!!!And i remember reading about this shortly before i heard the news of his death which left me numb for days...RIP Phil you are loved and missed by a great number of people one of them is me!!!!I'll see you in the next world...JB68

  • Once...a long long time ago unfortunately as though it feels like yesterday was a decade called the 80ies......and you had all these wonderfull beautifull talented pure gentle souls like this MAN Phil Lynott walking around....a once in a lifetime experience the 80ies growing up just like those of you who experienced the 60(HENDRIX!!!!)I will always hold Phil close to my heart, because he is one of my all time favorite souls on earth dead or alive..he was a great influence on a lot of people....

  • nice to hear Rory Gallgher's name in this vid

  • What a COOL dude..

  • phil knew the negativism which existed in ireland at that time.

  • My madra, methinks your comment was meant for tallicalad?

  • Its not where you are born, its whats in you heart, And Phils was always in Ireland!

  • @ceolnaghra It's not about where you're born, where you're from is whatever your heritage is....Lynott was of Irish and Afro-brazilian heritage meaning phil was indeed Irish....nothing English about him..infact Phil being Irish his ancestors probably hated the English

  • phil was a great gift to the irish people and all we are all proud to have been touch by such a nice gentle dubliner. sadly miss by all.

  • @GlAsSaRm faggot

  • @GlAsSaRm An Addict but a legend and legends never die.

  • We need more Phil Lynotts and Rory Gallaghers to counter the turd-sucking garbage shat into the world by Slime-on Cowell's bumboy Poo-ey Walsh.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom hahahaha

  • What bothers me about Bono(U2) is their tax exile status esp when the country is going down the toilet(they are paying their tax's to the Dutch Govt). They soon forget when they were starting out they got plenty of tax breaks from the Irish Govt. I mean it's not like they really need any more money so his save the world speaches have lost a lot of their sincerity for me anyway.

  • What an amazing guy!

  • Funny Phil lynott smoking on tv. His mother looks really young, she must have had him young. This guy was a brilliant musician.I just got into Thin Lizzy and its like its a new band to me.They did some brill stuff and are well better than posers U2. Phil Lynott had a GREAT voice for rock.

  • @XxpauldadudexX Posers U2....................lol.U2 are the furthest thing from posers i have ever seen,

  • @bustertypsy Lol you only have to look at BONER hahaha, and right there mister ego and his absurd sunglasses and name! He moans about what people should do for starving kids in Africa etc while living in like 5 mansions......Biggest phoney out there.

  • @XxpauldadudexX I respect your opinion, but he doesn't give up a lot of his time to help the starving for publicity, but out of genuine love and concern for the underprivileged.I think when you're the worlds biggest rock star for over 25 years wearing sunglassesis hardly an issue. As for his ego,he was born with that, and fair fucks to him.He has the talent, let's not knock him because of that.

  • @bustertypsy Well okay I agree with some of what ya say and I'm sure his position helps publicise the charities but I am just one of those rare people , I guess , who just dont like most of U2 music and I heard he sued a servant over a pair of jeans FFS so......Obviously U2 are a great rock band but just some people dont like em. Lol many like babybieber and jonASS bros but I bet you dont =D

  • @XxpauldadudexX and a tax exile...remember the point being made in ireland bout being all for african aid when not paying any taxes towards that? understand hes made a lot of money, fair enough, and wants to enjoy it in such a way, but what a creep!

  • @tippnick Lol woah dont say anything bad of Bono here...everyones got to think he's the new Jesus or else ;D

He is like a lot of filthy rich rock stars...like Paul Macartney and phil collins...greedy b*srds who r hypocrites.

My dads friend went on Bonos country estate to buy hay for his daughters pony...usually a guy takes the money but Bono was there this day..he actually said ..give me the money dont worry about the staff then said dya want my autograph...my dads bud said no thnx disgusted

  • @XxpauldadudexX haha brilliant story! think thats pretty much bono in a nutshell...but youre right, we should keep our opinions to ourselves, we dont know whos listening..

  • @XxpauldadudexX He is also a lousy tipper...

  • What a charming interviewer and of course Phil and his beautiful Mammy. It killed me when Phil said his age and the interviewer said "Ah, you'll be goin' for a long time yet" . I miss you like hell, Black Rose.

  • His voice was soooo arousing...! <3

  • He says he's not a "pretty face"?! I'd think most women then (and now) would have been clawing each other for him. He was a gentleman and a great looking dude. Not to mention a true entertainer.

  • I'd like to see the whole interview. What's with all the phones on the desk?

  • If he's NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that is a DAMN shame!!

  • He is such an underrated legend!

He should've been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame agest ago!

  • R.I.P. badly missed

  • spoken like a true Dub...this man was a genius & its just a pity the world didn't get to hear him for another 60 years..why do the greats die to young

  • How old is Phil Lynott's mother now?

  • @colmhearne In The Phil Lynott Story (Part 1) here on Youtube, she says she was 17 in 1947, so she will be 80(ish) now. She must've been late 40s in this video

  • @ Mindtpi Philomena är född 1931 så hon var gravid när hon var 17ten

  • why does the late late show always have irish hosts

  • Cos its an Irish talk show, longest runnin chat show in the world and its only had 3 hosts all irish gay byrne pat kenny and now ryan tubridy

  • What kind of a question is that you dumbass?

  • @k2g64 It has Irish hosts because it's an Irish show.

  • "Mammy"? Respect for Lynott for not knocking the sob on his arse.

  • na man, gay byrne was a cool guy. it is a bit embarrassing though to speak to his mam on the show.

  • I stand corrected - Grafton Street has his statue - I'll have to get home more often !

  • oh it's so sad to see philip gone wish to god he wasn't really really sad one of the gratest rock stars ever too come out of Ireland and thanks to philip he paved the way for many other Irish rock groups in Ireland at the time too amazeing man and I would like to thank him he's helped me so mutch with my bass guitar playing I'm now a profesional player thanks to philip and thin lizzy without you guys and philip I probley would of been a very poor playrer but I'm not thanks to philip. Stephen.

  • I was just thinking about Philo the other day. I don't live in Ireland anymore and I was listening to Thin Lizzy on the radio and it made me think of Dublin. Philo WAS Dublin. I like Freddie Mercury, but is it right we have a statue of him in Dublin and not Philo ?

  • There is a statue of him in Harry Street in Dublin.

  • have to disagree stephen, one of the greatest in the WORLD. if his legacy was handled better, which in my opinion it isnt, he would rightly take his place as a cultural idol. you see these images of elvis immortalized in pop culture, phil should be up there too. theyve just made a film about ian dury, why not philip? in my opinion better in every aspect than ian dury, but he gets a film. more people should get to know the greatness achieved by this man.

  • @tippnick You're so right. Phil should be in the Rock hall of Fame...

  • @musikfanat Wait a minute! Do you mean to tell me that Madonna has been inducted and Phil hasn't?! That's total insanity!

  • @Modes9 It is a bloody shame...

  • but yeah, apart from that, were agreed! long live lizzy. i love this interview, thanks for posting i always come back every so often and watch it, makes me smile

  • Phil, A True Irishman!

  • @ceolnaghra Aye, so Irish that he was born in England! That's where the most Irish people come from!

  • @tallicalad jealousy gets you nowhere mate.

  • @bansheewhiskey LOL you obviously have no idea what I'm on about mate. Why don't you ask what I meant instead of running your mouth?

  • @tallicalad running my mouth? I thought that was you.

    .

  • @tallicalad he was born in england however he moved to ireland when he was a few months old. he grew up in crumlin dublin his mother is irish and phil said numerous times that he was irish and he loved ireland.

  • @tallicalad Taking it FAR TOO SERIOUSLY. :)

  • @tallicalad He certainly has a thick english accent, no mistaking it.

  • @simondignam7 Indeed, I'm glad we're in agreement ;)

  • @tallicalad You're an idiot.

  • @simondignam7 Cheers man! You're pretty fly for a white guy!

  • @ceolnaghra Born in England and spent his first 7 years there

  • @yam500 as you probably already know, born in england, died in england, 100% irish! rip philip.

  • @tippnick nope, born in England, died in England, 50% Irish 50% black brazilian heritage wise, culturally he's 100% Irish..Thin Lizzy's my favorite band ever, and it's not just because they're Irish

  • @MyMadra haha, yeah thats what I meant. If you want to get into particulars, hes actaully half Guyanese, not Brazilian, as I recently found out. If you haven't read it already, there's a great article in the Mail On Sunday with Philomena. Very interesting reading :)

  • @MyMadra youtube wouldnt let me post the link, but just type in Irish Mail on Sunday Philomena to google and its the top result.

  • @yam500 but didn't affect him at all.that's what's so great about it.

  • introduce me to the mammy hahaha! legend

  • he loved his mum

  • @TheZanipolo just the way he said it was funny, good old gaybo!

  • R.I.P Philip Lynott, All My Love.

  • he's hot.

  • What year was this interview? Anyone?

  • 1981

  • I really do love this man. He is a huge influence on me and my music. Thank you Phil for everything

  • He reminds me of Jimi Hendrix

  • R.I.P. Legend, intellect and a gent.

  • Wheres part 1?

  • To the person who said he died in 1984 at 36 is wrong. He died in January of 1986. This is from 1979/1980.

  • My sister was around the Bailey and that in the Seventies, she said she didn't like him, turns out Phil didn't like her and he bought his drugs elswhere, she is a fairly bitter bitch. Phil was an is a jawed flenius, but aren't they all.

  • Prince totally stole his look!

  • @reverendd I agree totally...

Prince was trying to be Jimi, Phil, Jagger and James Brown all in one!

  • He was so charismatic. A really good example of one of his interviews.

  • He really had a way with words, I wonder what his opinion of todays Ireland would be.

  • Great clip, thanks for sharing it! A truely great and missed rocker!

    RiO from Sweden

  • Phil was a star. Sorely missed.

  • Legend

  • i get the scent of a lesser stag in your nostrils!!!!haha

  • ye think it was before the days of plastic surgery? you moron. haha phil had the dough.

  • god rest phil. just watched the "last philo interview" aswell, was some shot for the beeb i think, was sad. Imagine if he was still around today and all the years past, things he would have done.

  • charisma just fell off him!

  • What year is this from?

  • He says he is 30 years old in the interview. So if dead in 1984 at 36, this should be from 1978.

  • @Fangalatic He died in January 1986...

  • @musikfanat, my mistake. Then it is from 1976.

  • @Fangalatic Actually it is from 78 or 79. They hadn't done 3 tours of the US by 1976. I know, I was there at all of their US tours.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow his mom's a milf ... nd this was in da days before plastic surgery and all that shit ... she really looks amazing.

  • Wheres part 1!?!?!

  • gora lizzy!!!!!!

  • Where is part 1 then?

  • where the hell is part 1?

  • why the fuck is every one so concerend with hendrix is better than phil or kurt cobain could shoot lighning bolts of of his ass ! who gives a fuck its not a compition, they dont try and compete with each other so why compair them to eachother like football teams??

  • Brother well said ,all these people who compare these lads to each other miss the point. Its music, this great man gave us so much and i miss him, i would love to have seen him grow old disgracefully

  • love thinlizzy i am a grandmother and still rocking to their music

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post parts 1 & 3?? I know that thousands & thousands of Lizzy fans would appreciate it GREATLY!! Thanks so much for posting this. Peace.

  • curt cobain are nothing compared to phil lynott

  • Thin Lizzy is the best band to come out of Ireland, next to U2.

    Iwish Phil Lynott wasn't dead.

  • Did you know that Bono got the question if he was the" rocker" from Irland and he answerd -" No , that Phil Lynott"

  • Miss this guy so much and his music, and listening to his strong IRISH accent that he never lost makes me feel proud , he was a prince among men, a scholar, & never to be replaced.....wake up phil..... we miss you xx

  • 5:41 - 'Don't worry, you'll keep going for a while yet.' - I wish he did... I really do.

  • PART 3? x

  • PART 1?

  • hendrix or lennon couldnt hold a candle to lynott. you just keep thinking what rolling stone magazine tells you to think.

  • lynott is our lennon but rory gallagher is better than hendrix- jimi sed it himself
