Wow..... Grover got his little slam in there. But I suppose Muppets are Muppets no matter which show they're on. Shamelessly funny and witty and quick. I grew up on Sesame and Muppets. i think that even though this video was very fun and bright, Katy Perry's dress was a little low for my taste. If she had not been showing too much cleavage none of this would be happening.
@smendozahth hahahaha...oh boo hoo! a little skin was showing. you need to grow up these kids aren't going to care about the boobs but hey if your kids in kindergarten are staring at a girls boobs and getting corrupted and excited by them. its time to give them the talk anyhow. if they become tramps or get an std then guess what that was your fault not sesame street not katy perry yours. XD hahahaha...idiots like this make me laugh.
Well people have different taste. And u can't say which are good and which are bad. Some people like family guy, others don't. Same with the muppets. People express art in various ways. I mean look at Lady gaga. She's certainly unique and controversial, which many people hate. But I find it bold/daring and she's certainly talented which makes her artistic in my opinion. You may love kids show, I love used to love them too, but I grew out of it but I respect your opinion.

You can't always be serious, you need to have fun too, and you can even as an adult.
@tmla: I know. But, the thing is...there various sides, such as those who ignore responsibility & remain immature (ex: shows like MAD, SNL, Robot Chicken, et al THRIVE on that stuff) & those who become responsible & mature. BUT, there is also a distinction between those of the mature sort who lose what it is to have fun by being serious a good chunk of the time & the rest who are young-at-heart in some ways. THAT is why the Henson brands are for all ages, they appeal to everyone on some level.
At 3:54 I like the way Grover kind of bashes everyone who complained about the Katy Perry video. "...how do you like my new outfit? It is not too revealing, is it?" I thought that was like a big "Screw you too." Everyone laughed at what grover said.

oh really wow the adults have never worn a party dress to a dinner or have ever had a teen in the family with a party dress??? wow HELLO EARTH 2U GUYS!!!! they've probably seen tht within ur family and mayb even commercials so u wanna ban it for sesame street now? wow kids grow up and its a dress its not its something there seeing tht they wont ever see becuz in lyk they will 1 day jst think about it......................
people just look for somthing to complain about ALL THE TIME the will.i.am video is very encouraging and a confidence boost for children and now people are trying to say that will.i.am throws up a 666 sign cause he made the shape of an O with his fingers.
@tmla: The teenybop stuff is NOT for the YOUNG. THAT is what Playhouse Disney--soon to be renamed Disney Junior--is for. The teenybop stuff is for PRE-TEENS (i.e. ages 11-12) & OLDER. The FAMILY FILMS are for EVERYONE of all ages, both kids AND adults. Walt HIMSELF said, "You are dead if you market just to kids, for adults are kids grown-up anyway." In lament's terms, you should go for QUALITY & VARIETY, which "Disney" has NOT really done since re-branding itself as primarily a pre-teen network.
@tmla: It's not about the outfit, though it could stand to be less showy. It's also about song choices. I mean, I'm sure she's good, but when her most well-known hit is about her lip-locking with another girl, we know her being chosen as a celeb choice was questionable. I've nothing against homosexuality myself, but given the Street's traditionally-minded viewership, it was natural for parents to flip, given that Katy isn't one for modesty during performances to start off with, anyway.
@TherealRNO Ok, no offense, but you seem a bit weird. You're an adult of 26 yo obessessing over kids stuff. That's creepy. Grow up! Plus the majority of the comments agree that it was exagerated and that katy's outfit was perfectly fine. I am not a fan of Katy, I just find it ridiculous that some people take things way to seriously.
1. As the adage goes, "you have to grow old, but growing up is optional".
2. Like Disney BEFORE everything went to hell with the tween stuff, the Henson brands--Sesame Street, too--are for EVERYONE. Late head writer, Jerry Juhl, said it best, "Sure, Sesame Street was/is for kids, but we had to entertain ourselves too, and we knew it wouldn't work for the kids if we ourselves didn't enjoy it on some level."
3. There are more adults fans like me than you would think.
@TherealRNO Ok you know it all, I really don't care or have time to learn useless facts on sesame street. And fwi, I'm a uni student studying psychology and I think you're afraid of growing up because you don't like to deal with new situations or what life gives you. You want to stay a child because everythig was more simple. However dear, life is all about growing up and change. Either that or you just didnt have a proper childhood and are retaking it right now by obsessing over kids stuff.
@tmla: Listen here, I graduated high school with honors & left college with a Bachelor of Science degree under the Information Resource program, so don't you blab theories to me when you're still learning. I want to keep my childhood, for unlike most adults who forget theirs & thus, lose what it is to be young-at-heart, I am happiest being such, as I've found that those who keep the eye of a child actually enjoy life more.
Besides, when the world has 6 year old wanting to be like Miley Cryus--when her show is superficial and she herself is now addict to a drug--you know something is wrong. So it you who needs to get back your studies and look into why the world's going to hell in a hand-basket & use your theories to try and fix it.
@TherealRNO Miley may not be the best role model but she's not a drug addict. It doesn't mean she smoked salvia once (which is legal in california) that she's automaticaly a druggie. Many teens experiment at that age because of peer pressure and other forms of socialization but you learn from your mistakes and move on. So I dont blame her, she's still human. And btw, entering adulthood also has other forms of happiness (independence, love, sex, family etc). Each stage of life has its own rewards.
@tmla: "Many teens experiment..." All I hear is an EXCUSE by society , just so that teens can CONTINUE to ruin their futures. Some can be smart. I know I was, but then, I've already been straight-edge, and I know that said lifestyle is not for everyone.
@TherealRNO What do you mean ruin their future? It doesn't mean you experiment, take risks, or drink underage that you don't become successful. It's just a phase teens go through but they move on by learning from it and by becoming more mature. According to Freud, teens go through a sensation-seeking phase, which is part of the genital stage in life. It's biological and is part of their cognitive development, 3/4 of successful adults have done stupid stuff as a teen. It's human nature.
@tmla: They COULD became more mature WITHOUT having to go through all that pointless "life-changing" garbage. As to Freud, this is the same man who assumed that we conceived our sexual thoughts as young ones, with the males longing to be with their mothers and females with their fathers, which we know damn well is not true.
@TherealRNO Well many other theorists in social science would support Freud arguments and explain why teens are risk takers. Just look at Piagets theory of cognitive development or Bandura's social cognitive theory. And btw, I plan on becoming a psychologist because I like analyzing people and giving advice, so I believe firmly on those theories since I'll have to apply them eventually. There's nothing wrong with mad tv or stupid shows, their parodies. Do you have a sense of humor?
@tmla: Yes, but here is where your theories can be applied...Not everyone LIKES the style brought by SNL, MAD, Robot Chicken, and the like. SOME actually like humor that's simple & family-oriented, WITHOUT the need for fart jokes, strong sexual stimulation, intense racism, and graphic violence. Example: The Muppets & the Warner Bros. style BOTH made "adult" jokes WITHOUT going to the extent those *other* shows did, hence why The Muppets & Warner Bros. have endured.
I mean, seriously, compare Animaniacs!--with its classic Warner humor--to SNL. They're similar in ways, yes, but dis-similar in others. Where you would get an anvil crash by Warner, you would get a mangled body (often with severed limbs) on SNL. THEREIN lies a perfect example of the different tastes in humor.
@tmla: Jim Henson HIMSELF said The Muppet Show (his vaudeville-esque variety show starring Kemit & the gang at their own Columbian-style theater) was for ADULTS--the pilot was even CALLED "Sex & Violence" for pete's sake--yet when you compare it to say, a show like Family Guy, The Muppets are certainly the more tame--and dare I say it, decent--of the two.
@tmla: Psychology is part science and like all science, it is susceptible to changes in what is accepted by supposed "schools of rational thought". What is true one decade may not be so the next (ex: for traditional science, the definition of Pluto would be one, since it was classified as a planet in the 90's, but was demoted to "drawf planet" in the late 2000's).
UGH! Little kids won't even pay attention to her cleavage. And have you seen what some of the Disney princesses wear? Especially Ariel. Gosh, parents. Gosh.
It's true i have two boys a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old and they do not care at all about her cleivege. They liked the song and how Elmo talks and laughs. Then they wanted to play tag. They had no clue on what was showing and it wasn't that bad. I live in a bad part of town they see worst everyday with these girls barely wearing anything at all. they are little boys unless told otherwise it all doesn't matter to them. Those parents need to calm down get over it.
The fact that they have stars that kids don't even know on Sesame St shows that kids don't give a shit and barely notice anything beyond the Muppets and songs. Your 4 yr old doesn't know Colin Farrell or Ricky Gervais's work or even who they are but they sure as hell know how to count to 10 and what a square is because they don't fucking care.
@chasingparkedcars Miss Piggy was NEVER on Sesame Street and she never will be on Sesame Street. Miss Piggy was never meant for kids, either. The Muppet Show was meant for families, but mostly for adults. Sesame Street Muppets and the Muppet Show Muppets are two different things.
Go to this site for the facts (just take out the spaces): w w w . toughpigs . com / stop - being - wrong
@chasingparkedcars ...You are so RIGHT! I never thought about that...She's all bustiers and push up bras!!! LOL What a jacked up world we live in! LOL
Let's respect each point of view, i don't se anything wrong with this but i'm sure most of you are not parents, we are all diferent and we have to respect and not offend other people, besides sesame street had the fault when they let katy wear this dress and then cut this video, besides why are you complaining, you are watching the vide here in you tube anyway...
@StephenYamato: AT age 12, nimrod. They do NOT learn of it at pre-school age, UNLESS told of it. Sadly, society in general (ex: Disney & Nick with Miley and Miranda) is demoralizing itself, whereas Sesame Street has tried to maintain its purity.
it ok to for Ricky Gervais to ask elmo wat is necrophilia but when is katy perry playing a friendly game of tag in her dress it a whole different story
I understand....older kids will notice boobs. I don't know that I would have spoken up if i was a parent, but i don't think it would have hurt them to bring up the cut of that dress by two inches .
Oh who the fuck cares! I swear parents in the US are morons.

We let our politicians run things with lies, half truths and soundbites rather than with research and proven effective types of communication
We let Medical companies charge exorbitant rates while they put research $ not into cures, but into things we have to pay for over and over
We spend money in a very disorganized way while creating a crushing Natl Debt
We constantly let big business get away with robbery that we regret later (Housing, financial crises)
And Katy Perry is evil? Hypocrites!

God, parents that complain about everything just have no life. Seriously, there are more slutty outfits on hannah montana
tmla 1 year ago
@tmla: Yeah, but Hannah is MEANT for teens and adults, NOT little kids. The fact that Miley is now seen as a drug addict is proof of this.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@TherealRNO What do you mean adults? Disney is for kids. Anyway, Katy Perry's outfit was fine and I think people are just exagerating over this.
tmla 1 year ago
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@tmla: It's not about the outfit, though it could stand to be less showy. It's also about song choices. I mean, I'm sure she's good, but when her most well-known hit is about her lip-locking with another girl, we know her being chosen as a celeb choice was questionable. I've nothing against homosexuality myself, but given the Street's traditionally-minded viewership, it was natural for parents to flip, given that Katy isn't one for modesty during performances to start off with, anyway.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@TherealRNO Ok, no offense, but you seem a bit weird. You're an adult of 26 yo obessessing over kids stuff. That's creepy. Grow up! Plus the majority of the comments agree that it was exagerated and that katy's outfit was perfectly fine. I am not a fan of Katy, I just find it ridiculous that some people take things way to seriously.
tmla 1 year ago
@tmla: Three things...
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@TherealRNO Ok you know it all, I really don't care or have time to learn useless facts on sesame street. And fwi, I'm a uni student studying psychology and I think you're afraid of growing up because you don't like to deal with new situations or what life gives you. You want to stay a child because everythig was more simple. However dear, life is all about growing up and change. Either that or you just didnt have a proper childhood and are retaking it right now by obsessing over kids stuff.
tmla 1 year ago
@tmla: Listen here, I graduated high school with honors & left college with a Bachelor of Science degree under the Information Resource program, so don't you blab theories to me when you're still learning. I want to keep my childhood, for unlike most adults who forget theirs & thus, lose what it is to be young-at-heart, I am happiest being such, as I've found that those who keep the eye of a child actually enjoy life more.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
Besides, when the world has 6 year old wanting to be like Miley Cryus--when her show is superficial and she herself is now addict to a drug--you know something is wrong. So it you who needs to get back your studies and look into why the world's going to hell in a hand-basket & use your theories to try and fix it.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@TherealRNO Miley may not be the best role model but she's not a drug addict. It doesn't mean she smoked salvia once (which is legal in california) that she's automaticaly a druggie. Many teens experiment at that age because of peer pressure and other forms of socialization but you learn from your mistakes and move on. So I dont blame her, she's still human. And btw, entering adulthood also has other forms of happiness (independence, love, sex, family etc). Each stage of life has its own rewards.
tmla 1 year ago
@tmla: "Many teens experiment..." All I hear is an EXCUSE by society , just so that teens can CONTINUE to ruin their futures. Some can be smart. I know I was, but then, I've already been straight-edge, and I know that said lifestyle is not for everyone.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@TherealRNO What do you mean ruin their future? It doesn't mean you experiment, take risks, or drink underage that you don't become successful. It's just a phase teens go through but they move on by learning from it and by becoming more mature. According to Freud, teens go through a sensation-seeking phase, which is part of the genital stage in life. It's biological and is part of their cognitive development, 3/4 of successful adults have done stupid stuff as a teen. It's human nature.
tmla 1 year ago
@tmla: They COULD became more mature WITHOUT having to go through all that pointless "life-changing" garbage. As to Freud, this is the same man who assumed that we conceived our sexual thoughts as young ones, with the males longing to be with their mothers and females with their fathers, which we know damn well is not true.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@TherealRNO Well many other theorists in social science would support Freud arguments and explain why teens are risk takers. Just look at Piagets theory of cognitive development or Bandura's social cognitive theory. And btw, I plan on becoming a psychologist because I like analyzing people and giving advice, so I believe firmly on those theories since I'll have to apply them eventually. There's nothing wrong with mad tv or stupid shows, their parodies. Do you have a sense of humor?
tmla 1 year ago
@tmla: Yes, but here is where your theories can be applied...Not everyone LIKES the style brought by SNL, MAD, Robot Chicken, and the like. SOME actually like humor that's simple & family-oriented, WITHOUT the need for fart jokes, strong sexual stimulation, intense racism, and graphic violence. Example: The Muppets & the Warner Bros. style BOTH made "adult" jokes WITHOUT going to the extent those *other* shows did, hence why The Muppets & Warner Bros. have endured.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
I mean, seriously, compare Animaniacs!--with its classic Warner humor--to SNL. They're similar in ways, yes, but dis-similar in others. Where you would get an anvil crash by Warner, you would get a mangled body (often with severed limbs) on SNL. THEREIN lies a perfect example of the different tastes in humor.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@tmla: Jim Henson HIMSELF said The Muppet Show (his vaudeville-esque variety show starring Kemit & the gang at their own Columbian-style theater) was for ADULTS--the pilot was even CALLED "Sex & Violence" for pete's sake--yet when you compare it to say, a show like Family Guy, The Muppets are certainly the more tame--and dare I say it, decent--of the two.
TherealRNO 1 year ago
@tmla: Psychology is part science and like all science, it is susceptible to changes in what is accepted by supposed "schools of rational thought". What is true one decade may not be so the next (ex: for traditional science, the definition of Pluto would be one, since it was classified as a planet in the 90's, but was demoted to "drawf planet" in the late 2000's).

Those parents need to calm down get over it.

sarahweirdo5 1 year ago
The fact that they have stars that kids don't even know on Sesame St shows that kids don't give a shit and barely notice anything beyond the Muppets and songs. Your 4 yr old doesn't know Colin Farrell or Ricky Gervais's work or even who they are but they sure as hell know how to count to 10 and what a square is because they don't fucking care.

Have these parents ever seen Miss Piggy's outfits?
chasingparkedcars 1 year ago 135
@chasingparkedcars Miss Piggy was NEVER on Sesame Street and she never will be on Sesame Street. Miss Piggy was never meant for kids, either. The Muppet Show was meant for families, but mostly for adults. Sesame Street Muppets and the Muppet Show Muppets are two different things.

does anyone know anything called sex-education? Children learn about it!
StephenYamato 1 year ago
@StephenYamato: AT age 12, nimrod. They do NOT learn of it at pre-school age, UNLESS told of it. Sadly, society in general (ex: Disney & Nick with Miley and Miranda) is demoralizing itself, whereas Sesame Street has tried to maintain its purity.
