worked very hard at various places such as this over the last 25 years Fantastic patient care better than today . A real sense of asylum in the true sense of the word and home for those who could not get back there. Amazes me that people have a negative image about mental health care back then given how harsh and exclusive it is today

we have two very old major facilities here( Ararat,Victoria,Oz) Aradale Lunatic Asylum, And J Ward for The Criminally Insane. Both have been retained and are open to the public.Aradale is Viticulture college now. Like most large country towns, all had thier own places, Victoria being a Penal Colony since the early 1800s, as was NSW and Van Deimens Land. Many institutes. I think the spooks move out when buildings are used in a different way. J ward is still very depressing tho, closed in 1993.

my father worked at cane hill he was a boot and shoe repairer. my sister and i used to go to the fair they had there once a year for workers and residents it was quite an experiance

Only some parts were burnt; the place was largely intact until demolition started last year. The fires were caused by stupid arsonists who have no respect for architecture and just think it's fun to burn things.

Well we used to smash stuff up there too. What is wrong with that? It has mostly been demoed, so we were just helping.

If you have never tried taking a great lump of concrete into some old toilets and smashing every single basin and WC you should have a go. It's great fun!

And the Silent Hill team picked all 3. They really did their research, didn't they? No wonder they were regarded as the pros at survival horror for 3 games straight.

I would say hospitals are the worst for me. Wide open spaces, tight corridors, sharp corners. Very disorienting, and you could never put yourself at ease.
