this was a clean hit, the backside defender hit Boldin first and that caused Boldins body to bend forward which caused the helmet to helmet. Its plain as day, Eric Smith commited no penalty.

Both players led with their helmets, and both players launched themselves off of the ground. This is as definitive of a "defenseless receiver" hit as there is. And @tiatrips: It was 56-35 with 27 seconds left in the game. So what if he scores? You don't lead with your helmet, and you don't launch yourself off of the ground like that. End of story.

That first defender doesn't hit him, it doesn't become a helmet to helmet hit, but the Cards might score. I think Bolden broke or fractured his jaw and his sinus after this hit. He took a few weeks to get back in.

Thts some BS tht they said it was helmet to helmet. Yes the first hit was helmet to helmet, yet the second helmet to helmet was caused by the first hit. No reason for the player of the second hit should get in trouble. Just saying.

@3lit3Cossack What hit were YOU watching? He lead with his helmet. The shot was not accidental, it was deliberate. Don't try to justify your fave team's dirty play, just admit he led with his helmet(as opposed to using his arms or turning his shoulder) and the hit was dirty.
