Stanley francis Rother was known as father Aplas served that village as parish priest for 13 years and was murdered in 1981 by government para militia.
He had left Guatemala once because of the danger but came back because he couldn't stand to be away from his people.

The people of Guatemala are even more beautiful than the lake.
For just $150 a week you can get one on one Spanish instruction there 4 hours a day and room and board with a Guatemalan family.
My family is planning to take 2 weeks doing exactly that.
