True manliness and goodness never lose their charm, Steacy783... and I wasn't belittling your Lee Marvin... jsut saying, in my opinion Scott stole the scene.
Thank you for that. I'm a moive buff, yet I have never heard of this film. Have you seen the Japaise film Audition? It is the best one of the best horror films that I have ever seen. Seek it.
I think it's one of Lee Marvin's defining film roles - some of his best acting - really an underrated film! And this film was released just before he launched his "M Squad" TV series, where his acting also shone..
@kso808 what about lee marvin? only two things you need to know about lee marvin: he was one of the toughest bastards in hollywood, and one of the best actors ever. randolf scott was pretty damn good too. back in those days people actually put more effort in making a western. now a days, its all cliche.
Hell fire....I'm sick of you people trying to make perversion look normal.
R Scott was a die hard conservative. Would he have voted for people who disapproved of
his supposed right to have a relationship with C Grant?
Incidentally, he was maried to Patricia Stillman for over 40 years. His family to this days swears he was both "straight" and very religious 'nother contradiction, eh?
Hi, I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1930's movie star cards. They include: Randolph Scott, Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Maurice Chevalier, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford ....

Some think Gail Russell was the most beautiful of all actresses.

@marcxopoco She looked fucking awful in this film.

@JuanMacready is a foul mouthed gay (?).
marcxopoco 1 year ago
@marcxopoco Gail Russell looked about 45 in this film due to her heavy smoking and chronic alcoholism.

@JuanMacready is human garbage.

"Short on spine," I believe it was.

Great scene. My favorite, though, is where Marvin says (I'm not sure about the city):
"I said I was FROM St. Louis; I didn't say I was BORN there."
[gestures with gun]
[sarcastically] "Pow"
It's great. Imagine him saying "pow" like most people say "Jeez" in exasperation.

Lovely ensemble work. One of the best scenes in a film full of great scenes. The opening is a real kicker.

Did I read correctly? No offense to all you Lee Marvin fans.. I can sure appreciate a truly masculine profile.
But has any one noticed the gentleman next to Gail Russell?
I hate to say it, but Scott steals this scene, without saying as much as a few sentences.
charminsouthernbelle 3 years ago
Naw I DON'T think SO !!! The scene,,was Marvin's !! Don't make it something it never was !

What about Lee Marvin? I've read a few little known things about him. I do have to admit he was one of the sexiest film villains ever.

@bstanwyck Scott was a self-hating closet homosexual. Of course his family are trying to keep his screen image alive.

How about Lee Marvin himself alongside Cooper?
kso808 3 years ago
As good as I think Lee Marvin was, Cooper would have made him pee in his diapers.
And then let him live. And Marvin would have been okay with that, since he was an actor.
grabit1 2 years ago
Cooper was already very ill in 1956.
