  • Lol wow u really need to learn your history buddy. Win7 came before Iphone. The iphone is not a pc. Win7 started touch technology with the pen tablets. And u r saying the iphone is so great? Really u have to retouch the lil ass screen, and the touch technology is hit and miss. Lol u don't even have windows 7. U got ripped off paying 10 times to win7 and u have cheap parts. lol i laugh at u guys. Macs have grey screens of DEATH. or Kernel panic. Have mouse panics.Mac copied win from the start.lol

  • Lol go mac! Also touch has replaced the mouse... Sort of... The newest apple magic has multitouch

  • Apple have been ass fucked by microsoft for donkeys, Apple has better implementation stick to multi touch mouse trackpad etc

  • Guys, yes he may be talking alot about touch screen but he has some really good points. Windows offers what Mac does not have and that is price value and Mac offers what windows does not have and that is performance as far as being on lower specs. Lay off guys just because you like one side or the other does not mean you have to be arrogant fucks...

  • You can get MS Windows 7 for free now!

    download blinks . C [] M

  • Apple is technically superior. Reliabliity etc.

  • Are you serious ? You are talking about Windows 7 and all you approach is TOUCH SCREEN ??? You do realize that stuff will interest about 0.1 of the users. Talk about the real important stuff like SPEED and STABILITY....that's where Vista failed.

  • ROFL PAUSE AT :23 !!!!!

  • very well said drbuk keep up the good work ;)

  • I bought Vista a year after it was released, and I have yet to have any problem with this operating sysatem. Its actually exceeded my expectations. I have NO crashed at all. Of coarse, I believe that's more a function of what hardware you use, rather than OS.

  • Also, don't buy an OS the day its released. That's just stupid - no offense. Especially when you see its release it delayed more than once... especially then... wait and see what real users are saying before risking your primary PC. That should be common sence.

  • Apple now has task switching using apple-tab EXACTLY like Windows started doing 15 years ago. So while yes some concepts were copied from Mac it goes both ways.

  • What came first, the Mac or the PC? That's a non question and has been that way for a long time now. Good God man, the Mac is a PC!!! But who copied who goes back and forth all the time.

Who invented Copy Cut and Paste? Mac.

Who implemented universally accross every program? Windows!

There are still Mac programs being created that don't implement the same shortcut keys for Freakin Copy Cut and Paste.!!! And apple programs that can't share data amongst them. That's non-sence!

  • areo snap and tileing windows windows preveiws and all of those fancy fetures taht windows claims they made. has been in linux for years. linux had those fetures even before vista. flip 3d? linux has ring switcher shift swither and a carasel switcher all at once. the multi touch was in mac first. i acn proove microsoft stole every feture windows has from an alredy existing source. the only thing they made are those pretty transparent windows. thats it. and linux has that now too.

  • Just because Microsoft manufactured Surface, but the HP TouchSmart's touch screen's performance IS NOT WIN7!!!! And you never touch the screen, there's a touch panel over the LCD, and it's sync'd up, so CPU and GPU clock speeds will improve it most, and thusso you can have a glossy screen

  • 7 = win

    Vista = fail...

  • In my case windows 7 is very hardware dependent, it works pretty good (as far as windows goes) on some computers but on others it just keeps crashing and having problems. I've been running Leopard for over 3 years on my MacBook Pro, using it every single day for running Logic Pro, Aperture, Photoshop, etc and it has never froze on me or even crashed. On my studio desktop however, has problems constantly (and it's running 7). Its all a personal preference but overall OS X is better.

  • AMEN I had a G4 when they first came out, never froze never crashed. Now I have a loaded Mac Pro. Never froze never crashed. My PC that I must use at work is a piece of crap. Runs out of memory and fails, END TASK DAMMIT END TASK!

  • Vista with all the service packs, I think there are 2 now, is pretty stable, but my mac mini with 1.6 processor runs mac os x way better.

  • @designedfor exactly

  • tank yoo, com agen

  • Umm.. Was this video made in his daughters bed room?

  • k so the touch screen is cool. but im not about to spend the 1200 dollars or whatever to buy one of the special touch PC's when i can go buy a macbook for about the same price. personally i trust apple far more than windows right now. but i admit windows is trying.

  • You sound like you're lost

  • oooo the windows vs mac rants never get old.. my opinion?

    I use both

    mac at school

    windows at home

    i like windows better..why?

    upgradeable - easily....customizeable Interface

i also find it easier to use..although this opinion may come from me using windows more and first..so i may be biased..but its just preference

  • Yeah, counter those things, great.

    And BTW, Nettops kick ass.

  • apple propoganda

  • vista is xp with a new look and 7 is vista with a dock.

btw where do you think microcrap got the idea of the switching backgrounds? ;)

  • .... they rewrote a lot of base engines for windows 7 where vista was running on engines that were written for windows 2000 and they just kept building on it to the state where it got to unstable for vista. windows 7 is a huge improvement hasn't crashed on me before yet.

  • Windows 7 is the repaired version of Vista, and it does run very well.

Not sure why everyone is concerned with having tons of new features with every release. Obviously features don't always matter. You can look at all the ppl who switched from Vista to XP to prove that.

Even though Microsoft has been pushing it for years now, seriously, who's going to use a touch screen with their home PC? Not many.

  • i think it was a good comparison

  • actually windows 7 has even copies the iphone with touch gestures, thats just pathetic, if u remove all the mac idea put into windows it will be shittier than before. Windows copied them and made the ui worse, they just cant replicate OSX

  • apple wasnt the first one to find touch gestures

  • but apple was the best with the best touch gestures, check out the iphone

  • Windows copying Apple is just Windows being Windows.

  • Windows 7 wont take, why because recession and ppl cant afford to upgrade and Businesses dont want flashy new features for average workstations - most terminal servers i see are running 256 colours... Windows 7 will be quickly be replaced by Windows 8 and so forth...

  • Why would anyone switch to PC??? that makes no sense...

  • personal peference

  • Because its better in almost every fucking way.

  • Windows is better in any way? like...? i can make a counterpoint showing mac is better to no matter what you say.

  • I can build a PC with the same hard ware as a mac for half the price.

I dont have to pay asanine amounts of money to get my PC fixed, ever.

Windows does every thing a mac does faster.

    Mac OS has no DirectX.

I dont think you can over clock a mac. At the end of this year i KNOW i will have a Corei7 over clocked to a speed no mac on earth can compare to stock. Oh, and for less money BTW.

Windows has been getting updates to Adobe products before mac such as 64bit PP.

  • 1. i highly doubt it and even so i dont care it will still run sloer than a mac.

    2. bullshit

    3. Windows is faster? you have got to be fucking me? i'm on windows right now on the same hardware i run os x. THIS IS SLOW AS HELL!!!! you have obviously never used a mac... and this is without snow leopard.

    4. yes you can overclock a mac.

    5. yeah thats smart... lets give hollywood updates last... right...

  • Fking pathetic. Your a dumb ass bro. Every cunt on earth knows crapple charges 10x to much for their hard ware. Get a fucking life you shitard.

  • 10x... no way

at the most 2x AT THE MOST and not even.

it depends on the computer. i have found a dell more expencive than a mac

  • what no you cant. jk

  • IGNORENT...If macs were better, why does it only have 10 percent of the Market?

  • Because people believe bullshit rumours like they are $2000+

    actually they start at $600

and they arnt compatible... they run windows... PC's arnt compatible

  • 5% buddy

  • because since windows based PC's are generally cheaper, people tend to buy them more. Macs have standards and expectations that must be met, which is why you cant go to the apple store and buy a mac for $500. also, windows is used by many companies, HP, dell, compaq, etc. so, duh, there going to sell more.

  • I know that. I am not praising Windows because it sells more. I know why they have a greater market share (many, many factors). I can't tolerate fanboys because they're so IGNORANT! I personally think Mac V PC argument is pointless and a waste of time...SERIOUSLY! I'm an open minded person, and I think macs has some cool features, but at the same time I prefer Windows out of my own preference. Windows & Mac are a consumer good; why should peeps fight each other because diff. preferences of goods

  • because people are ignorant to what Macs are capable of

  • Yes! Macs can do what PCs can do! It does have features that PCs don't have! BUT...there's a but...If PCs can do what Macs can do, why should I switch. I don't have to worry about Vista's wrath anymore! Win 7 is great! Yeah, if I was ALREADY using a Mac, I would stay with it rather than going back to the PC for the same reason. With both OSes being great, there is really no more point of arguing. It's now solely personal preference!

    Cheers!

  • @Nazmus1992 Macs can't play some games, therefore macs can't do what pc's can do, but pc's can do what macs can do.

  • Who cares about games if I want to play games I'd get a PS3 or Wii and connect it to my 55" LED TV and stereo.

Malware crashed systems during Windows security updates

Have fun with your viruses and crashing!

  • @scottskitchen I never had one crash ever. And i take it you don't know how to remove a virus. Take a look at the comparison in graphics in a pc to a ps3 or wii or an xbox. Nothing compares to a pc. Have fun not knowing anything about computers!

  • @dvsenjoi20

Why would I need to know something about removing a virus? Sounds like stupid insignificant knowledge being a Mac user. I would rather spend my time being productive rather an having to troubleshoot viruses or hundreds of many problems with Windoze.

But I'm sure you're reeeaaaalyy good at it. with much experience no doubt. mommy is proud 'cause you removed viruses from her PC too. Such a good boy *pat* *pat*

  • @scottskitchen lol there are viruses for macs idiot, just not nearly as many. viruses are mainly targeted at businesses. and it doesn't take much time removing viruses and i get just as much time being productive. If macs maybe had 30% of all computer users in the world, you would see quite a few viruses on your "pretty" mac. I know im a good boy, thanks for the compliment. You still no nothing about computers if you can't remove a virus, simple as that

  • Did I ever say there were not viruses for Mac? Back in the days before OS X, the number of viruses which attacked Macintosh users totalled somewhere between about 60 and 80. Today, the number of viruses actively attacking OS X users is...NONE! There are 114,000+ viruses for PC. 1. Listen 2. Get your facts straight 3. enjoy your viruses lUzer

  • @scottskitchen So there aren't any viruses for mac os x right? "We first published information about the discovery of the first Mac OS X virus in February 2006. Because of the large number of people visiting this webpage to investigate the malware threat on Apple Macintoshes, we have expanded the page to include information about other Mac threats."

Thats a quote from Graham Cluley. So why should i listen to you? and i did get my facts straight, and i am not stupid and know how to remove one

  • @scottskitchen The only reason is because less people have Macs, so less people make viruses for it. It has nothing to do with Apple.

  • @scottskitchen

You know, i met a very mac talented guy on a site and he said in a post that there's still big holes in Mac Os. If Mac marketshare keep on increasing like this hackers will start to think about throwing viruses on mac.

  • @scottskitchen "I would rather spend my time being productive rather an having to troubleshoot viruses or hundreds of many problems with Windoze"

That is...until your mac gets a virus then being a productive mac user would go out the "Window" wouldn't it? And hacker contest such as Pwn2Own have showed that macs are childs play to hack and manipulate. And are you really making fun of dvsenjoi20 for knowing how to use a computer and how to fix problems? Thats sad.

  • not all games run on a ps3 or wii or can be contoled as well as on a PC. My favourite games do not have a console version. and why do I need a computer and a ps3? I wanna do everythng on one machine not have 10 boxes at home for each thing.

Malware crashed systems during Windows security updates

Have fun with your viruses and crashing!

  • Nothing is perfect, windows in general is more user friendly people like that, Mac you have to get august to it sum do not like that, and Linux to hard for general people to use to geeky cool visuals but to geeky to install things

  • All this talk about vista / windows 7 and osx. windows is better osx is better, blah blah blah blah !! All these comments from you people and nothing sensible came out of the argument. Its like this... OS X= expensive , nice looking crap. Windows (any version)= cheap, almost looking good crap. Linux, which not one person mentioned, is free. FREE, also very functional and stable. Why pay for something that kinda works, when you can get a free os that beats both win and os x hands down any day!

  • You're just a pathetic liar, just a teenage kid with a big mouth. Your claims are the total opposite of the claims that true Linux professionals make in the YouTube video called "Desktop Linux Sucks, And What We Can Do About It "

Also anyone can go to WineHQ and see how "Well" many of the Windows applicatiosn run in in Whine... (rolling eyes)

  • To~ 82vv28, Pathetic liar you say, teenage kid you say, with a big mouth. Okay, seeing how i was born in 1980, I far from qualify as a kid. Moving on, At least when i make a comment, I got the balls to keep my account on here open, unlike you, that commented, and closed your account and ran away like a scared little bitch!

To~ the public : Click on his/her gutless spineless name. It clearly says that the account is closed. Perfect example of pathetic liar, and bigmouth teenage kid!

  • windows 7 ultimate is 300 bucks, snow leopard is only 29 bucks to upgrade, so careful when u say something without researching.

  • Touch screens have been around for quite a while - My 4+ year old Sony camcorder has an LCD touch screen. Also MS surface computing was in development since before 2003 - and when did the iphone debut? 2007?

  • I have a macbook running leopard obviously but I also run windows 7 beta using bootcamp facility. I have the best of both the worlds so I know what I am talking about. Now Mac OSX is definitely the best operating system on earth, no doubt about that, don't wanna argue on that but having saying that, win 7 is not that bad, well not as bad as vista, it has some cool features which I won't say is copied rather inspired from OSX, things like expose stickes and spotlight.

  • I'll still buy a macbook and refuse to embarrass it with MS garbage

  • I pity you

  • Yeah if I use bootcamp it's going to be Ubuntu Linux running Wine

  • great review !!! the thing abt mouse and pointing devices is so true ,, mean , why move so many muscles on big screens when you can use 2500 dpi pointing device ?

  • I can see this technology being good for doing small quick task, like as a kiosk at a store, but to use it for an extended period of time as a home computer or work does not seem feasible, try holding up your arm for just 10 minutes and see how tired your arm gets.

  • they wont get rid of the mouse and keyboard in this life time. thats for sure.

  • oh also, vista is not "ok" now its a pile of shit. seriously . . . use it for 20 mins and try not to get something not responding.

  • i've been using it since it got released; no probs related to vista.. maybe router problems or mice malfunction, but vista rocks.. can't wait for win 7 :)

  • Im willing to bet you werent dependent on fax or scanning or printing or etc. because THAT is what drove me to OS X. I needed to fax, and scan, and print (which xp was doing awsome with) until vista cam along and....

    FAIL NO SCAN FAX PRINT!

its just not practical to have to w8 for vista to work out its bugs... vista is buggy, xp is outdated, the only reason i can't wait for win 7 is because that will tell me if Microsoft is crap or not...

  • i'm sorry to hear that you blew $3000 because you didn't know what to click.. which you could have found out if you googled it. and yes, i did use the scan utility once on my hp scanjet; worked perfectly. srsly, in my opinion, putting aside the "way of life" that apple sells with it's macs... macs are for n00bs who can't figure out windows :P

  • It shouldnt take a computer geek to run todays computers... If the average person cannot run a windows machine, than microsoft has failed... Macs are easy to use, have infinitly better UI than windows os's and from my experience, Mac is MUCH more stable.... (not to say that os X is perfect cause no operating system is perfect...

  • well thankfully, the average person CAN run a windows machine. and yes, they can also run a mac as well, but why pay more if both do the same job? and if you say, well mac is more stable, and bs like that, it's a dumb argument. macs crash as well. you might as well buy better brand name products like WD, Antec, Cooler Master, Enermax, etc. other than a proprietary machine from one company, apple.

  • they dont both do the same job... while windows owns gaming and busniss, Macs are MUCH better as PERSONAL COMPUTERS. its not about the money, its about the value... ask a gamer, if they would get a $300 computer to play games, or a mad pimped out $3000 computer which will pwn. if everything was about that money, than we should all buy cars from china, and watch them fail... buy vista, and watch it fail...

  • my gaming pc i got all the parts for 900$ 4 gigs, oced to 5ghz dual core and a 4870 gpu so :P just to let you know spred the love and money is a valid argument cuz you can basicaly find any mac exclusive software (not the same but like a copy) that works well for pc =D so its no contest BUT if mac was used by more people then it would be somthing to consider

  • Have you used it? No, you haven't obviously. At least you haven't used it with Service Pack 1.

So, before you try, painfully, to bad-mouth an excellent OS (gasp! did he say 'excellent?'), try to give it a chance. It's better than XP ever was, and Windows 7 will thwart both Vista and XP.

And don't even get me started on Mac OSX. There aren't enough characters in this text box for a rant like that...

  • TRY VISTA FOR A YEAR WITHOUT SERVICE PACK 1 WHEN YOU NEEDED SCANNING AND FAXING FOR YOUR JOB! il bet you thats impossible with a huge precent of faxing things u used in xp... people who were dependent on things like that shouldnt and couldnt w8 for vista sp1.... it was xp or OS X.... and over time.... xp was outdated. Vista was made before its time and was born retarted... sp1 helped but vista was still flawed, i cant tell you how frustrating it is to buy an hp set up and see it fail with vista

  • How is Vista flawed with SP1? With SP1, its pretty much XP with a different UI and some different features.

  • What a lovely video and a fair point of view.

  • oups, another fucktard!!!

  • Thank you SOOO much for the non-bias review. I'm running windows 7 and it is pretty close to flawless in a beta (Haven't tried the touch features). Awesome in just about everything. I can now print on printers that didn't work with Vista and overall it's been a really great experience. If this is just the beta, I can't wait to see what final release will be like.

  • I think if their multitouch needs TWO hands then it doesn't work right. And yes, Apple has the awesome response time & user experience that puts them far ahead in the industry.

  • yes its true after a bunch of try hahahahahhahaha

  • thats just a program that they used as a demostration of Multi Touch - If u continued to watch that video you would have seen him zoom in and rotate a foto with his fingers lol

  • 6:33 on video this think dont want work {windows 7} hahahahahahah

  • Which video are you responding to? I can't find it...

  • I wish the mac pro 8 core was cheaper tho

  • Yeah Your Right Man Windows Needs To Step up There Game This Year........Because Snow Leopard Will Be Out Soon.....It's Like 7 Times Faster Than Leopard 10.5

  • DRBUK, I suggest you think some more about your positions on primary input interfaces. You say we're not gonna stop using a mouse in favor of multi-touch on screen controls. Why not? You spoke about how very very impressed you are with the iPhone. The ONLY input interface in that device is multi-touch. So, can you not imagine OS X being updated so that touch is easy?

  • i think i feel better using touch on the iphone because its a smaller device. i have the same feelings for a windows mobile touch phone, there smaller devices so its easy and more convient to use touch, bigger 24 inch screens would be a pain, but it depends, i may liek it more as things develop further, so i rule it out now, but yeh sure im open to things if they are implemented different to how i think. im not being osx exclusive, if mac had touch on its computers id still think same on touch.

  • windows 7 is seriously going to shut apple up

dont believe try it for your self

  • Actually no Mac user would ever switch back to Windows !

Windows 7 might prevent a few potential switchers from going away

but other than that not much problem for Apple cause they have a more advanced OS

and in the long run people will realize the value offered and switch n e way !

  • i wanna OSX fall when it hits 20% :)

osx should cost cheaper because OPEN BSD and UNIX = FREE :)

Windows 8 will not be a NT base os. there doing what Microsoft should've done with vista. Re program the OS. hopefully your statement you gave me will be not true.

plus why question me and i do this for a living. i am a programmer for c++, and i know your making this up all the way because its easy to make someone switch back.

  • Remember Competition is good for everyone !

So Pc users should actually be grateful to Apple

Cause now Microsoft has to innovate to keep marketshare unlike before

and as far a Mac users switching back... not happening ! here's why

    at present Leopard is far ahead of n e version of windows {even Windows 7}

Infact when I use Windows nowadays I feel like Im in the stone age or something

    and

Even if Windows is better than Mac OS in the future Which I highly doubt

Remember Macs can run windows too

  • yeah. but windows 7 seems advance windows os for me. it has some features Leopard needs also :)

  • oh yea, how about if your Mac bracks? and you cant repair it. the other option is to buy a pc and get better costs for the fraction of the price.

    pcs own there

  • Thats the point Macs don't break or brac like you like to call it !

There's a reason Why apple has the highest customer satisfaction rate in the industry... it's because Apple makes quality Products !

if you r really that bothered by it

you can get Apple-Care which gives you 3 Yrs of service

and Apple's customer care is in a different league from Dell/Hp etc

they replaced my broken keyboard in 5 Mins flat

    try doing that else where...

and when you build your own Pc it gets worse

  • Dude I've owned 3 PCs and none of them "broke".

I haven't had a BSOD since 2003, when XP came into my life. And even then I got very few BSOD. I was one of the few 98 users who knew how to streamline and stabilize my system.

You apple fanboys need to stop fabricating statistics to help your pathetic arguement.

  • Thats good for you ! But do you honestly think everybody is as lucky as you ! I've was a windows user myself for many years ! when I was using windows I always had problems mostly stuff I could fix, but still problems Also I never enjoyed computing back then it was a bland tasteless experience Call me lazy, BUT it was a chore Doing Virus n spyware scans every week Defragmenting my hard-drives etc When I use my Mac now I actually enjoy using it U should try using a MAC before judging others
  • The whole virus/spyware debate is a moot point.

Apple doesn't even use EXE, what most fucktard virus/spuware writers make using C++. PC is like 80% of the market. Ppl who write viruses/spyware are attention whores looking for MAX exposure. Why target only 20%.

Defrag needs to be done like maybe once every couple of months, nice try.

And who's judging anyone? Mac fanboys lie constantly about BSOD. I HAVEN'T HAD ONE SINCE 1999.

AND ITS NOT LUCK. More likely user error on your part.

  • again since you seem to be happy with Windows thats good for you

as for me I prefer using a MAC

Since when does using a different computer make you a fanboy !

I agree some MAC users go overboard about the whole MAC vs PC thing

I personally don't hate windows, I still use it for gaming etc.

it's just that I prefer OSX

IMO it's a personal choice the user has to make

  • A decent respectful response. Thank you.

I admit I was trolling and hoping for a "fanboy" who I could work into a frothing rage until he became suicidal.

I apologize for any offense towards you. Its just that I don't see much difference between Win/Mac/Linux except for specialty uses.

Mac - video compiling and rendering

Linux - servers, networks and file storage

Win - office and gaming, plus cheap standard computers.

  • No problem, I hate all these Mac vs PC arguments

I've been in my fair share of them !

    as far as MACs go desktops r expensive as hell {I'd never buy one}

but laptops compare really well in price

    Especially the Macbook range !

  • I agree. The laptops have become competitive price wise.

I have a question. PC is "x86" architecture. What's Apple? Is it still the same even though Apple now uses Intel processors?

  • When Mac switch to intel yes it is x86 architecture, it was the only way to keep up with the power demand. Personally I am not fond of x86 it has very inefficient coding and you can see that with netbook, labtop and umpc having low battery life. I look forward to ARM unveiling their multicore cpu uses for netbookk and labtop in the future, they have very efficience and low heat design. There is one particularly powerful handheld device called the OpenPandora that's interesting to look at.

  • Also

Most PC fanboys (at least the intelligent ones) don't hate Apple hardware, or OSX (it does use a Unix kernel-stable and awesome).

We just can't stand the cult mentality of apple fanboys, or the jewiness of Mr. Jobs and company.

Got a coworker who changed their profile on their Ipod. Damn thing erased all its music.

I guess it thought it was under new ownership.

MP3 players should be able to erase themselves.

I could picture Steve-O saying "we can't let anyone get something for free"

  • Excuse me

MP3 players should NOT NOT NOT be able to erase themselves.

  • I personally don't use a IPod, So I can't talk about it !

but as far as Apple fanboys go, ya they r some brainless ones

I'm sure even the Pc side has many as well

There's no point in generalizing, thats just the way it is !

and there is Too much Steve Jobs Emphasis by everyone

    both MAC and PC users {The guy's human after all, let him be}

BTW Windows 7 looks good from Wat I've seen

looks like Microsoft has finally upped their game

    have you used it ?

  • No not yet

  • my rockboxed sansa mp3 player can erase and create files within itself. so does all archos pmp I think.

  • Hp Touchsmart was a attempt

  • Please don't bash Vista. Everyone hates it...Why? Buy/Download Ulitimate. The problem with Vista is the started Ultimate and than cut the legs underneath it to save costs.

  • i like xp better than vista for a few reasons...basiclly i think it is simpler and a bit better with downloading many files.if xp looked newer i would still be using it lol

  • Emeek is back! His new username is applesoldier

  • We. Don't. Care.

  • iDo Care!

  • i do. Dont speak for everyone. You dont care, I do.

  • To be honest, I don't care who copies who. I don't know why people put so much emphasis on this.

  • One other comment, just about all touch screen phones other than the iPhone suck. It's not just your O2. I've tried the HTC Diamond which is brand new, the new Nokia phone, and the latest touch screen from Samsung. They all have terrible, unresponsive touch screens as you experienced.

The reason is because Apple uses capacitive touch screen technology, and they have the patent on it. All other screens use pressure touch and they're unresponsive as a result.

  • Get your facts straight. Apple cannot patent capacitive touch. It is a hardware feature (that is not made by apple). The bb storm, android g1 and some sumsung phones use it

  • Get your facts straight you boob.

"The best source of information on the iPhone's touch screen is Apple's patent application. The most relevant one is #2006-0097991, dated May 11, 2006 and entitled "Multipoint Touch Screen."

The patent describes two different implementations of projected-capacitive touch technology. The first, which Apple calls "self capacitance," is a simple passive array of 24 x 36 sensing electrodes in a single plane."

  • The patent describes two different implementations of projected-capacitive touch technology. The first, which Apple calls "self capacitance," is a simple passive array of 24 x 36 sensing electrodes in a single plane. This is commonly known as a "matrix" touch panel, and it is commonly used in applications such as industrial control panels, membrane keyboards, and other situations where a limited number of well-defined areas on a surface need to be made touch sensitive."

  • Who cares about patent? If one system is better, I use it. Afterall, what's the point of discussing WHO made WHAT first. LG had multitouch first, if that's what yr discussing. Or was it Samsung?...

    What matters is;

What is best for YOU. Not who made it. How does that actually matter?..

  • I never said cant apply for a patent for the way they use a capacitive touch screen. I said they cant have a patent for a capacitive screen. (slight difference, maybe you misunderstood what i said or vice versa). I even went as give examples of competing phones that are presently are being sold with this type of screen to prove that apple cant patent that.

  • Once again, don't fall for the hype. Those 'surface technology' movies are just special effects. The system isn't really capable of it. If you want to talk about make believe computer systems the matrix is much cooler. If we're talking about real ones, then 'surface' doesn't count :)

  • I'm testing for 7 :)

but don't doubt it the 3rd milestone not beta's or anything.

was already twice as fast as vista.

I'm guessing the final version will be like 3-4 times faster (just guessing :P).

but I'm going to have to get an external hard drive. probs SATA.

but I need to find one which the BIOS settings will work correctly so Windows 7 can actually 'boot up!'. :P

  • However when Apple bring out a tablet PC, with touch support fully integrated into the OS, and into the applications (iLife etc which are controlled by Apple) it will rock.

Windows will face a chicken and egg issue. Developers won't write apps until there is a large market of touch screen PCs. People wont buy touch screen PCs until there are apps.

Apple can overcome this barrier since they write most of the apps themselves. Microsoft can't. All in all my prediction is Windows 7 will flop!

  • Surface is going to be more microsoft vapourware. Don't fall for the hype man. The real problem in my view with touch screen technology, is that it really depends on a good user interface design to make it work well, efficiently and in a natural way.

The reason tablet PCs have done so badly is due to the poor user interface design. Now here comes the problem, microsoft is TERRIBLE are designing user interfaces. So their touch screen technology is going to suck big time.

  • they are using hp touch smarts right?

  • Nice response vid. it'll be interesting to see how windows 7 pans out. Cant say im a fan of the touch though, i own an iphone and that thing smudges up pretty quick, cant wait to see how smudgy a 24" monitor would get.

On the subject of the touch being glitchy, my phone also goes odd from time to time and doesnt recognise im touching it. Probably something that will be worked out eventually.

  • tat

  • You didn't make a MacBook video, isnt it?

  • I like my iMac but I have to admit that my Vista is great.

  • does anybody know why emeeks account is suspended

  • Your best video in a long time! This is a really good look at Windows 7 and I feel the same as you.

  • emeek77 account suspended, 23 december 2008

  • I doubt its suspended, I have to say that he was removed because of the new youtubes new policies

  • it came up on my system emeek77 account was suspended.

  • It may come up as that but chances are his account has probably been removed

  • i have a copy of windows 7, still like the vista with bits taken out ie: side bar and other tweaks but the basic plumbing is vista, its not even classed as a beta its alpha test version, the beta testing of it starts early 2009 to be out in shops by end 2009 as if.

  • i think windows is going in the wrong direction with this touch thing. First of all touch monitors are going to be expensive. so that already rules it out for other people who cant afford new hardware. I also had real problems with windows mobile on my brand new samsung omnia. i sold it on ebay within 2 weeks and bought an iphone. windows is far too bloated with "senceless" programs and code. and they need to resolve basic issues before trying to make it more glitsy. w7 is going to fail... badly

  • Actually windows 7 doesn't even use touch screen moniters, and in case you don't even know, windows 7 is based off of the fixed vista kernal, which means it won't have any of the problems vista has, and as far as im concerned i know people using it and they say its what vista could have become if it wasnt for an early release

  • i know but i was emphasizing the fact their making such a big deal of touchscreen capabilities in the demo's when thats simply worthless for desktop pc's in the real world. A yes they may say that is "based on the fixed kernel" but i'll bet there are still hardware/software compatibility issues that users are going to have to deal with. im sure these people you know havnt extensively tested it out yet.things may have improved as you say but we shall see when its officially released and in stores

  • software and hardware compatibility problems with brand new os's have always been a problem, especially when basing it off of a brand new kernal system, which is why xp got such a crappy start off, because of the new kernal system, same thing with vista and its early release, i doubt they will make the same mistake as before

  • Yet an other fanboy moron... Go get the facts, don't use your common sense to make allegations as you knew the real thing. Tipical thing with Mac users, used to have everything setup and not spending brain time messing with their systems.

  • im not a fanboy, i am merely saying my point of view. I was an avid user of windows but switched to the mac. I am pretty excited about windows surface technology and hope the best for windows 7, i want windows or microsoft to make me switch back, why would i stay with mac if windows 7 or etc is better ? im sorry if i came across that way, as being a fan boy but i am not. mistakes.

  • Thanks for your reply, and sorry for been so hateful at first. Windows vista is capable of handling all that surface thing, in fact, any OS is, the lack of implementation of a GUI like this is just the lack of system's capable of doing so out there, Most issues with other touch sensitive GUI's are hardware. BTW, Windows 7 is indeed the name of the next Microsoft OS. Multitouch, it is like the mouse was when it first came out, its the future, it was first implemented by Apple, not invented by thm.

  • Great video.

I always wandering, you are very knowledgeable and interested about this camputing topics, but you are taking Pharmacy in college.

You should take computer engineering or programming instead.

  • There is a huge difference between speaking about computer related topic and know what actually goes on in the background.

  • biased

  • i find most apple users are really touchy if something is the same or similar to there stuff, tho its different because its written different, i hope this OS is good

  • Vista is a lot better now. It has been a lot better since earlier this year when Service Pack 1 was released.

  • All I can say is that I don't believe in upgrading Windows OS anymore. Better to just buy a new PC with the new Version installed.

  • In my opinion, Windows has a far greater responsibility to make sure that their OS actually works when they release it, because they are responsible for 90% of the computers in the world, in turn that makes the fact that Vista isn't up to par, even worse!

  • You forgot the link to emeeks vid mate

  • his account is suspended so i cant link it

  • how did it get suspended then if u know

  • I installed Vista on my Boot Camp partition and it's growing on me lol. The demo's multitouch didn't look very smooth though. I'm looking foward to Windows 7.

  • flip 3d?

  • Flip 3D = Application Switcher

  • I was the same way when Vista came out
