Also why do they assume the leg bulge is a muscle. We know noise, water/air pollution, and european encroachment have all affect wildlife and Native populations, stress, depression and fear due to habitat loss can affect mating . Another point is the possibility that diseases brought by the europeans that decimated Native Americans could possibly have affected "bigfoot" populations.

I've watched this documentary with interest. I always thought that someone admitted to that patterson footage? That it was a hoax, but this documentary reviews the footage and attempts to analyse it scientifically. Did someone admit to it being a hoax in the end?

The film itself wasn't really prooven a hoax. There are a lot of stories out there saying this guy did it or Patterson hired a friend to do it. But he and Gimlin didn't admit to a hoax,

Hi, thanks for replying to my post! Since writing my comments Iv'e had chance to look at several documentaries on this subject and it's really interesting! Not in terms of whether there is actually an undiscovered species of ape livng on the North American continent somewhere (!), but the way in which we acually seem to want to continue to perpetuate this myth! Do people in 2009 still really believe in a bigfoot?!!Granted, Its a really seductive idea, but ultimately nuts! each to his own.

Hi again! I take the point you make but neither have pink elephants that fly around in the sky i suppose. That doesn't really mean there is a chance they still exist, or does it? I would love to believe in a bigfoot and used to love this kind of stuff when I was a kid, but on the balance of hard evidence, there is almost zero statistical probability that we have an undiscovered species of large man like ape on the planet undiscovered to modern science

1. It HAS been proven a hoax.
2. Roger and Bob never admitted to the hoax because that would be admitting to fraud and could be held liable. Roger wanted to leave something for his family.

I belive there was another video that some coal minors took. It was never proved a hoax until on the coal miners died and the others admitted it was fake. That may be the video you are thinking about.

They say this creature walks funny and they have the animated demonstration, but honestly... my friend even sort of walk that way he puts his knees in first and kinda swings them around... and whose to say it didn't have arthritis.

50 years? Shows how well informed the skeptics are. My people have told the story of the Sasquachis for HUNDREDS of years and it is a prominent figure in our artwork, along with the eagle, the orca and the bear. Are you going to tell me that the other three don't exist as well?

But 'your' people also recorded stories of creatures such as Pukwudgie, Apotamkin, Chepi, Sint Holo, Jenu, Wendigo, Kachina, Kushtaka, Piasa, Sisiutl and Urayuli as part of traditional mythology and folklore AND a number of these mythical creatures are very similar in appearance to the supposed 'Bigfoot'? The Native Americans knew a good story to scare children with like the rest of us didn't they? They never claimed the creatures were real though?

These things that you list aren't "creatures", they are spirits or states of being.
The Wendego didn't physically force us out on to the ice or make us eat of our own, it's the state of being that the person was in when they committed these acts, some would call it spiritual possession.

Creatures, beings, spirits. However you describe them, surely the fact remains were that they all figured as part of popular folklore and mythology. The native americans never described an actual animal such as Bigfoot literally? The modern explanation for no reliable physical proof of Bigfoots existence is that it is "elusive". But believers also insist that native americans used to interact with them to a significant degree. Seems like a contradiction in terms to me? You cannot rely too...

You are making a strawman argument and in it you ignore my original point. Yes, all of the other spirits that you mentioned appear in Aborigianal folklore. "Bigfoot", on the other hand, is found in artwork and folklore along with recognized animals like the orca, bear and eagle.
You're not going to find a ceremonial dress featuring a wendego and a bear nor are you going to hear a story where a chepi and bear are in alliance.
