I don't wish to take anything away from Christopher Cross but he's always going to be Chris Geppert to me; that awkward fat boyish man with the beautiful angel voice that you love to hear. I'm old Austin and not embarrassed about it. I still say Town Lake too by the way.
music today sucks.. and i have a strong feeling it'l suck harder in the future.. the industry will never go back the way it is in the past.. where music will just lift you up in the air.. they all will die, but not the classics. thre are alot of potential musicians today that might change the world once again, but sadly doesnt have enough money to share thier talents to the world. sad. so sad.
I like KORN, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Combichrist, SwitchBlade Symphony.... etc... But when I listen to this kind of music it changes everything.. very nice rhythm and lyrics... hoooaaa!
If i i will be having my kids, i wouldn't introduce them to the artists today like Justin bbieber.... but instead on Christopher cross, richard marx, bryan adams...etc.

@CFSprayAndPray yeah, i get what you mean. Look at the music industry today, always talkin on sex and money. If you're goodlooking and hot, you'll gonna be famous.. unlike before that is purely on talent.. just sayin..
@jednightingale91 Agree 100% with your comment.. writers like paul carrack, Christopher cross, jimmy buffett will live on. I'm a 70's born kid and get great pleasure in listening to this music along with some of the music from the bands in the 90's.. but bieber music i have no time for.. just marketing hype music..
@jednightingale91 absolutely! music these days don't compare to those back then. I grew up on Bryan adams, toto, mr cross, ect. love those days and i'm only 33.

hey drumtour621, i am glad someone your age appreciates a great piece of music. no auto-tune, no pro tools , no studio tricks here.......once in awhile someone writes a song that takes your soul to a faraway place out of this world. i wish other people your age could be exposed to this and learn from it
Im in San Jose, driving I-17 to Santa Cruz with my girl hugging my right side as my Dodge hurtles the embankments , I cant take my eyes off her, I cant stop thinking of her, What a woman, She backs me up like I do her, Perfect trust and gratification.
Fantastic, genious, a song for a life time, and a life time of a song, words that mean nothing, but have very deep meaning on the beholder. A song that on paper has an ending, but spiritually never ends, A time traveler song. Christopher I will never have enough money to pay you for what this song is worth. Why there are songs that will for ever bring the best of people. Christopher you inmortalized this song.
This is not just great music or a terrific song... it's a time in one's life, if you're fortunate. A time when you could attach a musical memory to your travels through an otherwise hum-drum existence and make it special. Cross was/is very gifted, a regular guy with a great voice and knack for coming up with timeless lyrics. Thanks Chris.
@Bodebodango great mind's think alike my friend...u enjoy life..that is what this song is about...who would not groove to this song...get on a boat, with your dog or cat...a bottle or brew, or tea...and just escape...and thank God for the beauty of the ocean or lake...now that is my paradise...was my brother's last wish...and he was very macho!! ...green beret he was....xo...btw...I am a woman giving u xoxo
@Bodebodango I'm back here to my friend....tell u what...when I go to Nags Head...I want u to join me for a ride....bring family and friends...the more..the merrier..xo
@Bodebodango this song has Always been Timeless... and Chris has a "one of a kind" voice and is SO COOL, love to watch him play and sing... this has been one of the GREATEST songs of my Life, Still is... just BEAUTIFUL and it really does "take you away" to another place, another time perhaps, to someone or something, and evokes feelings inside of your Soul, at least for me anyhow... I "dedicated" this song on Capt Phil Harris (Deadliest Catch) profile, as he meant "alot" to me too, "fitting"...
I'll be sailing away on a boat in a lil over two weeks and just like the song, I can't wait to get away from everyday life for a few days!!! We all need to get away sometimes, thats for sure :)
Fantastic, can't even mark it out as an era? Possibly cos I'm 50 and have alway's loved his music .... ride like the wind is sublime......can't understand why this man's music hasn't had more acclaim?
Im 21...full sleeve of tattoos...9 piercings...play in a total rock band. I look like i would listen to megadeath to put me to sleep. One thing I know is THIS IS REAL MUSIC. The opening guitar line spells music. Please pray for the generation under me, they have no idea what anything like this is, or that its even out there. Keep supporting great artists like Mr Cross. @drumtour621 Yo Drumtour......you can never hide a good song that's for sure! I'm 54..no tattoos, no piercings..but if I listened to your music and it spoke to me, I'd love it just the same. The 70's and 80's ..trust me...had some zingers for sure, posers and copycats with zero originality. They just copied the hits and popular songs ...they brought their music from the head not their heart, and it sucked. We just lacked 'the net' to bitch about it globally! :=) Rock on brother!
this song brings back GREAT memories of the 80s, and is one of THE BEST songs of my Life... very soothing, ZEN... LOVE IT! I miss Chris' voice out there on the airwaves...
Ok, Cross sounds incredible after all of these years. What a beautiful, almost effortless sounding voice. Can you imagine just how awful some of today's so-called singers are going to sound 30 years from now? Ah, miss these days.
Does anybody know why the Criss Cross lp "Nothing Will Change" was never released in the US. It was made in 1991 and featured Eric Johnson on the entire lp.
There are a couple of Chris Cross' tunes on youtube with Eric Johnson. Not only did they jam together before they both were famous, I believe Eric ended up on a lot of Criss' studio songs. He also spent time jamming with Stevie Ray Vaughn. All three of them came out of the same studio in Austin, TX.
Reminds me of traveling to Florida as a kid and then with my wife and kid the last few years. Something about a special song that will always bring back the memories and this one is one of them that does that. Thanks Christopher! Love it!

Man I was 14 in 1980 going on one of my first boxing trips. We stopped off to eat at a Boston Pizza and one of our senior fighters walked up to the juke box and this song cam on. Ya ...this song came on and it just poured into my soul and filled me with passion. I'll never forget that moment in time, in my life and thanks for the great song. It gets better every year, oh and by the way i won that bout. Take care Mr. Cross. Your a real contender.
@mikepariswater...way2go mike :) glad you won that bout. And I just love hearing old stories and there connection with classic songs like this one. Although I'm 17, I can really appreciate lovely music like this. I'm taking ballet and i always have this song on my i-touch lol
Esplendoroso a melodia desta música, aliás, todas do Christopher Cross e Banda. Edson F Gregorio - Brasil - Minas Gerais - Varginha.
wooo..78 dislikes..??young people now dont appreciate this kind of music...it replenish your mind and brings peacefulness in our hearts..this is what you call music...

It was made in 1991 and featured Eric Johnson on the entire lp.
cooltooth112 11 months ago
There are a couple of Chris Cross' tunes on youtube with Eric Johnson. Not only did they jam together before they both were famous, I believe Eric ended up on a lot of Criss' studio songs. He also spent time jamming with Stevie Ray Vaughn. All three of them came out of the same studio in Austin, TX.

Dreamy 80's!
How many of us would like to revisit that time.

Reminds me of traveling to Florida as a kid and then with my wife and kid the last few years. Something about a special song that will always bring back the memories and this one is one of them that does that. Thanks Christopher! Love it!

Wow...his voice has not changed at all! I cried a little bit listening tot his song.

He did a better job on this one, by far, than in the live performance of 1980 which is also on YouTube. And had better instrumentation, too.
I love this song.

Afffff.

I liked the one where he was wearing the Earl Campbell jersey and playing the double neck bass.
ih8suvz 1 year ago
@ih8suvz He was playing a 12 string-the other neck was just a standard 6 string. No bass.
