  • were you nervous it all when you were doing this? I'm thinking about building my own computer what should I be concerned about?

  • @Mr15ization

It was just an irrational fear I had before doing this.

As soon as the build was complete and the OS and Drivers where installed, I realized that building a computer was not as scary as I thought. Pretty easy really if you take your time, don't rush, and follow the Motherboard instructions a bit.

  • @TemporalParadox1 k thanks

  • Could you list all the extra cables you purchased>?

  • @ASkydenSurvive

I didn't have to buy any extra cables.

The ASUS Motherboard came with 4 Sata Cables.

The DVD-ROM Drive came with a Sata cable.

The Corsair Power supply came with enough connections for me.

This is where you have to be very careful when ordering online, because every model of motherboard and PSU come with different amounts and combos of cables.

Just check the specs on the manufacturer websites.

Cheaper basic boards & PSU's tend to come with less cables - but some extra then.

  • This is LGA1155 is not 2011

  • @chnajuha

The 2nd Generation i3, i5 and i7 Sandybridge Intel Chips where released at the beginning of 2011 - they are all LGA1155 Socket Types.

So I have not got a clue as to what your point is ?

  • i build my computer with this tutorial and it works perfect thanks mate :)

  • @Brentgoesipodtouch

    Great stuff :)

  • What was the total cost of this machine?

  • @ajberlier

    Read the comments.

  • sorry for spamming your vids, but by any chance are you full aussie, if so im full aussie as well :P

  • @runey5

I am Full Aussie and Full Extra-terrestrial.

Still trying to remember where I parked my TARDIS so that I can get back home.

  • How much did you spend on the build??

  • @chrisdowling1997

$2200 Australian Dollars 12 months ago.

This price doesn't mean much now, because prices have gone down a lot and it's in Australian Dollars.

  • @MrA11u I'm getting my components from novatech. They're really good price wise. Either that or ebuyer if you live in America (I think that's what it's called :S)

  • May i ask where do you order your components cause im heading to build my own computer just cant find shop whit fair component prices.

  • @MrA11u

I live in Australia - so I am afraid I can't be much help for you.

In Australia I only shop online at PC Case Gear . c o m

  • I've watched about 5 videos on how to build a pc and this one is by far the most informative,

    thank you

  • @CheeseWithCarrots

Thank you very much - I appreciate your comment :)

  • Great video, you took time editing it and didn't talk too fast as most of the people building pc's do :P

  • @xKiteeN

    Thank you :)

  • Do you actually need the Antec Kuhler H20 620? Or is that just a bonus cooling system?

  • @EL1T3xProductions It's not really needed as the CPU comes with a fan, but the water cooling makes everything so much smoother, as an example when you're gaming or rendering a video or something else that uses much CPU, will run much smoother and with lower temperatures. Also with a "cool" cooler you can overclock and make the CPU/processor much faster :)

  • @xKiteeN Ok, thanks. Is there any site where i could find a basic list of ideal components for gaming and editing? I would like a list of what components are needed and which components that are not necissarily needed but help the computer run more smoothly.

  • @EL1T3xProductions You should download XChat (irc program) and connect to quakenet and join some pc related channel example #hardware and ask :)

  • how much all of those components cost? xD xD

  • @MilanCeranic

You are going to have to go on a very long journey to find the answer to this question.

Make sure you pack some lunch for the trip across EIGHT messages below.

  • I just want to thank you for making these videos, you are a true expert and i prefer your videos to neweggs. What a delightful gentleman you are sir!

  • @BusMafiaClan

    Thanks for your sincere words.

Staying calm when teaching is my preferred style, as opposed to being hyper-animated on a sugar rush and not making much sense.

  • Can I install a Nvidia Quadro 6000 on that motherboard Asus?

  • @Nelson1000Sonrisas

    I have no idea.

  • @Nelson1000Sonrisas of course you can. Why not? However, you would probably want to go with ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3. Z68 is a bit more versatile, up to date and Gen3 would allow PCI Express 3.0. Also 22nm Ivy Bridge won't be a problem.

  • @edsdrafts

I thought you could, but I wasn't sure.

Just about to build a new computer using Z68 for a friend.

  • What was the total price?

  • @Alkire22

$2200 Australian Dollars 12 months ago.

This price doesn't mean much now, because prices have gone down a lot and it's in Australian Dollars.

  • your not a nerd your a expert

    at what you do :D

  • @TheEditsHD

    Thanks :)

  • Hey, whats more improtant for editing hd video. A good graphics card or a fast CPU. I have a basic ati card and a dual core x8.5 ghz pentium processor. im kinda on a tight budget but just wanna figure out weather my money would be better spent on a new CPU or a Graphics card.

  • @gloshglosh

    Always CPU first.

You need a fast 4 Core CPU to process any HD Video properly.

The best value performer from Intel is the i5-2500 or i5-2500k.

In the AMD range I am in the dark since the new Bulldozer was released - because it apparently has problems in some departments. The old Phenom 6 Core Black Editions were great like 1090T and 1100T.

  • ohhh and another question from a Novice/beginner/noob haha.. You said that usually buying the type of Motherboard first would lead to your decisions to most of the rest of the parts. Are you able to give me a list of the things that needs to be in top priority when buying parts for your motherboard? I know that the power supply/Fans & coolers, CD/DVD players and Hard drives arent really related so you could buy any kind out there.

  • @MagicflierRawr

    Choose your CPU first.

All CPU's have a particular "socket type", 1155, 1386, AM3+,.....depending on what model CPU it us.

Once you know the socket number, you can then find a Motherboard to suite.

But you have to know "how many" HDD's, DVD Drives, Fans, etc...you want to hook up, because different MB's will more or less connection points - Sata Socket, Fan Header,.....

Look up full specs on Motherboard websites and start reading carefully - be patient & don't rush.

  • Any detailed details to what kind of ASUS P8P67 Motherboard you bought?

  • @hackrabbits

    Asus P8P67 = Asus P8P67.

Go to the Asus website and it lists ALL Motherboards and gives detailed specs.

  • btw guys when he sed always install your psu upside down DONT ALWAYS do that it really depends on your case, if you have a hole on the bottom of the case for the psu then you can do that but if where you install your psu upside down without a hole your going TO damage it! btw good build guide iv serched a few and yours is great :)

  • @Kole208

You would have to be an idiot to install it face down if there was NOT a ventilation hole.

  • @TemporalParadox1 trust me about what i seed lol you seed always have it faced down, some people take it the wrong way lol its hard to believe but its true iv seen it happen

  • @TemporalParadox1 how much did it cost for all of the parts?

  • Just going to say that if someone is doing just a gaming build than the i7-2600k offers no advantage over the i5-2500k. The i7 only has the advantage of Hyperthreading. It turns 4 cores into 8 virtual cores that operate at slower speeds. Heavily threaded applications such as Video Editing programs benefit hugely from this but no games use Hyperthreading and they won't anytime soon. The i5-2500k is all a gamer needs right now and will do as well as the i7 give or take a frame or two.

  • can i use 4 ddr's

  • @AVandSK

Can you use 4x RAM Slots ?

    Yes you can.

  • GOLD PENIS

  • It's just amazing that's it's your first time to build your own pc and you're now doing a how-to video!!!

  • If i bought everything now it would total £750 approx!

  • How much did you spend?

  • @PhotoSchoolFree

$2200 Australian Dollars nine months ago - which means nothing now because:

    a) Australian Dollars

    b) Prices have fallen dramatically now

    c) Many models for parts have changed

  • @TemporalParadox1 Cool, nice video.

  • @TemporalParadox1 where did you buy your components from?

  • @wmw0702

    PC Case Gear in Australia

  • What a pile of goodies

  • @x8xCdawgx8x Thanks but I already ordered a computer for $971 intel i7 2600, 16 gb of ram 2 tb with a monitor the only problem with it is the intel hd graphics but that's not a big deal

  • Love that case <3

  • how much it costs?

  • hi can you please tell me if how much did it all cost... cuz im on a budget..hehehe by the way nice video.. i'm planning to build one exactly same as yours

  • @atlimson if your on a budget this pc probably wont be for you lol

  • y do u have to change the fans

  • @galaxymode

You don't have to change the fans.

I needed to beef up my cooling, because I live in an extremely HOT part of the world in Australia.

All my older computers use to always overheat in Summer - so this was important for me to do.

  • hi very good your video! sorry for my bad English but, will try to make me understand! I'm riding my pc, my question is. I

install a ASUS GTX 570 DIRECTCUII or 2 ASUS GTX 560 DIRECTUII, please can someone tell me which is better and why???????. Thank you.

  • @danielbrugal

This is out of my knowledge range to give you a correct answer.

    Google your question "What is better 1 x GTX570 or 2 x GTX560?"

I'm sure someone on a Forum has asked this somewhere.

Also, check out LinusTechTips channel - he is on my channel home page.

    Try searching his videos.

  • @TemporalParadox1 ah ok thank you... :)

  • @danielbrugal if you get 2 GTX 560's its better then 1 GTX 570. A GTX 570 is about 15% better then ONE GTX 560, meaning if yoou SLI 2 GTX 560's you're better off. Mind you this does requier a power supply that can handle that. Also your motherboard must have 2 PCI 2.0 slots 1 at 16x and one at 8x. Both being 16x is prefered but not required.

  • @1and1isme ok thank you very much,, last tip! and if so with two asus gtx 560 Ti DCII TOP/2DI/1GD5, apart from the game to see movies in 3D TV connected to HDMI and if you can watch movies in 3D with this option? or if you can shed some light on this subject, I would like to be optimal for both graphics and rapidity both games blu ray movies (with equipment). ASUS DELUXE/GEN3 P8Z68 !!! and ANTEC 900 W Thank you ...

  • @1and1isme

Thanks for supplying an answer to that question.

I guessed that would be the answer, but I don't like commenting on things I haven't done myself.

  • just helpin yall out..if yall are on a budget and want a gaming computer, go to newegg.com (very good) and buy all the parts for a computer, buy them, put them together. saves a lot of money (: like this

  • Soon I'm gonna get AMD FX 6100. Is the LC Power 650W silent giant green enough to overclock the CPU from 3.3GHz to 3.7GHz and supprot Sapphire Radeon 6950 2GB in CrossFireX???

  • @VFXLuke

Go to Corsair Website - underneath "Learn & Explore" they have a Power Supply Calculator to determine what capacity PSU you need.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Thanks!

  • How good of a pc could be built for less than $850?

  • @MrStraightSwag go to newegg.com and build your own comp. just look into it trust me

  • no 1 use gtx 590

  • @affe524

If you have the dough - of cause.

  • what about this build? mainly for games :) Do you think it will run wow smooth?

    Intel Core i7-2600 3,4GHz 8MB LGA1155 BOX

    Asrock H67M (Intel® H67 Chipset) mATX

    4GB DDR3 1333MHz (4GBx1)

    ATi HD6870 1GB GDDR5

    500GB 16MB cache SATA2

    Ace Stac4 Miditower ATX

    Corsair Power Supply 750W TXV2

    Reply ASAP please :)

  • @supeeerstr

If you are trying to build a budget fast PC, then consider looking at this instead:

    i5-2500

8GB of RAM will speed processing times up

2 x HDD (1x OS and programs, and 2nd for large video files)

650W Corsair Power Supply would be more than enough juice, because you are not overclocking.

  • @TemporalParadox1 alright, im after a budget yet good gaming computer :) can you take a look at this site (Mrpc.se) and see if you can come up with something, because i couldn't find those things you mentioned, but the graphics card is alright?

  • @TemporalParadox1 forgot to mention the site is in swedish but maybe you could translate it with google chrome or perhaps you understand anyways, would be such a great help:) thanks

  • @TemporalParadox1 couldnt you just use a external hard drive instead of buying two?

  • @Harz77

External Hard Drives are terrible - because you loose large amounts of bandwidth and many of the older models spin slower.

Their good for storage and doing backups, but not for doing high speed processing.

Having a HDD connected directly to the SATA ports on a Motherboard, can give you up to 10 times the read/write speed of an Ext. HDD.

  • @supeeerstr yes it would very nicely (:

  • thank god i found a video about making a computer without some arrogant strong accented yankee rambling on about newegg! Yay!

  • 6:12 gold penis

  • no homo but your voice is so peaceful lol great vid helped alot thx but what is the total price of all this?

  • @romeo98210

The full list of all the parts I used is in the description box.

You can go to somewhere like NewEgg . c o m and price it out in "todays" prices - prices have dropped since I built this.

New Motherboard model is also released, Z68 series instead of P67 series.

GTX460 GPU is practically obselete, look at GTX560 + now.

  • @TemporalParadox1 yeah thx man should i wait for your 2012 video or should i just build now i checked the price in USA its 1,680

  • @romeo98210

The Heart of your Computer is the CPU.

The 2nd Generation Intel i5 and i7's are solid performers, that really took things a big leap forward as far as value for money, fast & reliable CPU's.

    GO for it now.

*Top recommendations are i5-2500k, i7-2600k or i7-2700k (all unlocked for dead easy overclocking)

*Look at newer Z68 Series Motherboards

*Graphics Card look at GTX560 or above in the Nvidia range

*ASUS Motherboards have the easiest & best O/C software

  • @romeo98210 lol true XD

  • i swear everytime i when it shows new segments that music is from spyro.

  • @sxechad

Interesting - I actually made the music with Sony Acid Music Studio 8.0 using Royalty Free Loops and Samples.

  • @TemporalParadox1 at any rate, it was a great tutorial! good work!

  • very good video!

  • @TheCrazyyGuy

    Thank you :)

  • excellent stuff, I'd be slow like this building too.. love seeing it all so carefully explained

  • @Grumpy49168

I actually build things pretty fast, when I am not stressing about a Video Camera, Sound and Lights.

Thanks for your +ve comment :)

  • i'm buliding a computer for a first time,i got a foxconn motherborad with a graphics card with the cup bulit in..i'm gonna have a 500gb hard drive and some onw said to me a 500 watt power suplie is recomened for my motherborad

  • @theAteamproductions1

I used a Power Supply Calculator on the Corsair website, to work out how much power I actually needed.

Go to Corsair - Learn & Explore

Sounds like 500 watt is right as a guess.

  • I'd rather gone for a i5-2500K and a GTX 570

  • Great video! :) Very informative, could you possibly recommend me a good graphics card in the £150-200 range? Thanks.

  • @Iceskaro Get a 1gb 6950 unless you're planning on running dual monitor set up go for a 2gb 6950. If you want to go the Nvidia route go for a 560ti.

  • @Iceskaro def nvidia gtx 560ti

  • Would a 32gb ssd work instead of a 120gb???

  • @ModZAnDTutorialZzZ

A 32GB SSD would work if you use the newer Z68 Motherboard Chipset.

Example = ASUS P8Z68 (just look for Z68 in names).

With this Motherboard you can combine a small SSD with a conventional HDD, to create a "Hybrid" Storage Device that the Operating System and most used files live on.

Under normal conditions though, I would recommend no less than 120GB, because it fills up pretty fast.

I actually loaded all my games onto my HDD because of their size.

  • @TemporalParadox1 i gunna get the 120gb one and run windows off that and then save a ll my other stuff to the 1tb hard drive would that work or not???

  • @TemporalParadox1 i also sent you my specs did you get them???

  • @thesupergamingmaster

it costs around £1,135 in the uk. I did not use just the one website, google shopping, hope this helped, thumbs up so people can see!

    brandyboy2202

  • great pc only downside of it is the graphics card it eats to much power for what it delivers in graphical resources but still your video helped me a lot of making my own pc and it works perfect:)

  • how much does it cost?

  • @MrJossy456

That question has already been answered in the previous comments.

  • @TemporalParadox1 well gee thanks now i need to go comment fishing

  • What year was it by the time you finished building the computer?

  • I have to admit I'm savy with computers. But god installing the CPU scares the crap out of me. Its one of the things you can really screw up. But thanks for making it look easy. I really liked this video.

  • @wolfmansmh1

I suppose it's like Sky Diving - once you have done it, you are either dead or you survived and can't wait to do it again.

  • I'm trying to stay awake while watching him do

I tried but I fell asleep half

    Sorry

  • i love the graphic card men 460 gtx 2gb

  • It's amazing that people think building computers is extremely difficult. I used to think that, but then I did my work experience and had to extract Hard Drives I discovered how simple the inside of a computer actually is. It's just a big shell around a few things connected together...

  • @xTobyMc

Brain Surgeons probably feel the same way after a couple of years.

  • nice video my friend i like it

  • @21angelgood

    :)

  • my only question, why do u talk so quiet

  • how much all in all? :)

  • @freedomfighter213

    Roughly $2000.

But that really means nothing, because that is in Australian Dollars 6 months ago.

Prices have gone up and down since then.

There is a worldwide HDD shortage right now, so HDD's are ridiculously overpriced until factories can be rebuilt since the Thailand floods.

I have a full list of all the components I used in the Video Description box, which you can look up in your own country.

  • @TemporalParadox1 you should have gone with the RAdeon HD 6870 from Powercolor at that price point. Though the 460 IS a great card and since you are video editing and not gaming it doesnt really matter

  • Great vid :) and if you dont mind me asking...about how much did it cost to build? because i want to build one and have a price range thank you

  • @TurncoatzMontagez

    Roughly $2000.

But that really means nothing, because that is in Australian Dollars 6 months ago.

  • @TemporalParadox1 alright thank you for letting me know :)

  • Hi

I use the same video card I was told that this Gaming card isn't adequate vs the Quatro FX 1800 card. I have been running into slow rendering using After Effects large video templates

  • @gcmcknight

I don't use After Effects, so I can't help you.

I'm sure Adobe would information about what GPU's are compatible with AE.

  • I really liked your build. I seen a lot of videos and yours is by far the best won. I think after watching your build I really want to try my own build. i have a question, did you overclock the cpu?

  • @lomont36

    Thanks for your kind comments.

It was my idea to show people that it isn't scary to build your own computer. There is a great sense of satisfaction when you have finished.

Yes I did overclock the CPU to 4.6 GHz.

It was very easy to do with the ASUS AI Suite II Software.

  • hard drives from WD are crap, YOU SHOULD BUY SEAGATE, THEY MAKE BOTH BUT ON THE WD'S you have only 1 year warranty and seagate barracuda xt you got 5 years.

  • For video editing you should have gotten a SSD with a HDD, instead of 2 HDDs', it would allow for faster computer boot up and allow faster access of files. Which is very important for video editing.

  • @elesey123

If you watch the end of part two, you would see me add an 120GB SSD as a Boot Drive and for all the programs.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Haha yeah thanks man I noticed after I watched the second one right after this one. If I could I would have taken that comment back, but other then that thank you very much man, I enjoyed the videos they are very informal and of great use to me (I'm thinking of building one my self) and I'm looking forward to using this video as a benchmark for what I want to do.

  • it costs around £1,135 in the uk. I did not use just the one website, google shopping, hope this helped, thumbs up so people can see!

  • hatters my god im building my first pc right now for swtor and i have seen a bunch of these videos and on ever one there are so many comments on what you should have got but with no resons behind it nice pc and good video

  • normally i would put the cooler on the CPU before doing anything else mainly because I dont want any dust to go between the cooler and the CPU

  • you should have given it 950W in my opinion.

  • @ExtremeGamer9951

That would have been overkill and a waste of money.

If I had say 2 x GTX570 then the extra power would definitely be needed, I only have 1 x GTX460.

I had concerns on how to select the right power supply until I found on the Corsair website, a Power Calculator Tool - I used that to make my decision and it has proved to be the right one.

  • @TemporalParadox1 OK. just computers of this build were 950W usually. But they had better graphics cards and more than one + more RAM.

  • Did you read reviews on your kit before buying?

  • @FlourescentPotato

    Of cause I did.

I spent a long time researching every single component, to the point of going round and round in circles at times. 6 months later I am happy to say that everything is performing very well. Three stand out components are:

    #1 Intel i7-2600k - 10/10 very speedy indeed.

#2 Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD's - extremely quite and very fast.

#3 OCZ Vertex 2 120GB SSD - 10/10 so fast at everything - couldn't live without it now.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Sounds good, hope you keep having fun. You'd be surprised how many people miss out obvious things.

  • how much would this actually cost?

  • @kuletxx001

Read some of my replies below.

Prices have changed dramatically since I made this.

Extremely rough price is $2000 Australian.

  • @TemporalParadox1 hahaha omg :) i was going to build my own computer for the exakt same reason as you xD thats why im watching this tutorial.

  • imma newbie :D

  • ALSO (sorry! :D) decided to go along with you and changed my motherboard to the asus 1155 p8p67 evo. built in bluetooth & the new fancy bios did it for me (more stuff for less money than the other motherboard haha)

  • @sonicboomish

I remember going backwards and forwards in my mind - working out what to get.

By time you actually buy the parts and do the build, you will feel like you have just completed one year of University training.

  • Me again haha, this is the third time i'm watching this! I'm too excited about christmas when i'll have all my parts haha. Swapping out your antec cooler though for the corsair version, mainly because I know and trust corsair to give a quality product and because apparently the instructions are really clear. Another question, do all the intake fans on the case have dust filters (im mainly concerned about the one on the front, i have a lot of cats haha)

  • @sonicboomish

The Coolmaster 690 II does come with filters.

It's nothing Hi-Tech, but it definitely does the job - mesh gauze.

There is a filter on the Front, Top and underneath the Power Supply.

I actually removed the top one, because the airflow is exhausting there.

The filters work quite well, because you can see the dust building up quite quickly - I vacuum the outside and inside of my case about every six weeks. You'll actually find the radiator needs cleaning quite often also.

  • Don't touche the CPU metal with your fingers, what he did (dropping in his hand) was stupid.

    Hold it by the edges.

  • @fsastudent

Why was it stupid to remove the CPU from the plastic that was holding it in?

A scientific explanation would be great.

I don't know if you noticed, but once the CPU was free from the hard plastic I was holding it by the edges.

And before you make any other observations, I was grounding myself continuously.

  • @TemporalParadox1 It was stupid because you have grease on your hands, and it it doesn't matter if you're grounded or not!

  • @TemporalParadox1 how much do it cost for everything ?

  • @vvbasvv

The prices have changed dramatically since I made this - everything is now cheaper.

The full list of all the parts I used is in the description box for the video.

Where is the best service, best price and best range of Computer Parts in the Netherlands (or Europe)?

In USA it seems to be NewEgg, Canada is NCIX, Australia is PC Case Gear.

I am trying to find out the best place for each country - because everyone keeps asking.

  • @TemporalParadox1 i life in the netherlands , and i think the mediamarkt or dixons are the best shops . you also have dynabyte and mycom ! i hope you can find some prices ! i'm a 16 year old student and i want to buy a good hd video edditing pc ! but i have no idea what the prices are !

  • @vvbasvv

Just take the list of parts I have, and then look them up at the local online computer stores you listed. That way you will have the most accurate prices.

Every country has different taxes and charges, so if I told you what it cost for me 6 months ago in Australia, it would be completely wrong for you.

  • @TemporalParadox1 yeah i got it ! but how much do you paid for that stuff ?

  • Thanks m8 for this video, doing some heavy upgrading myself and with almost excactly the same components =) and i'm a noob.

  • @Batchelli

    Your welcome :)

  • How much did this all cost? And where did you get all the computer parts from?
