Hi I tried this on my wii version 4.1 not e or u just 4.1 but when I go into wii channel then sd card the homebrew channel isn't there,followed everything in you're video.Do I need different software or could it be my sd card compatability?This sd card i got out of my camara (EMTEC) first I formatted it and then unpacked the files direct to sd card then put it in my wii.can u help Greets lee

@leegorsy Try an old SD card. Wii's don't seem to be able to read SDHC cards (which is most cards larger than 2GB). I had to use a really old one to make this video.

@lizsta1 either you didn't put it on the card's root directory or your wii menu version is newer than 4.2 (and if you dont know what a root directory is, you shouldn't be doing this)

@kryceksangel The wise person would have a backup of their NAND (system memory) before attempting any sort of hacking of the wii console. Installing Homebrew channel opens many possibilities for the wii. One being WiiMC, allowing streaming of videos.

@Lynn909090 As far as i know there is no way to download it directly to the wii. You'll need to download from your pc and transfer it to the wii using an SD card.

@EddieEddieEddie90 SOL means Shit Outta Luck. If you brick your wii, as the name implies your console isn't going to work. You can send it in for repairs, but Nintendo will charge you for it since you installed unauthorized software on it. It's a risk you have to take.

@jp4859 you'll need to leave the card in the wii after installing. The homebrew channel itself is on the wii's memory but the apps aren't, if you take out the card there will be no apps in the list

@pyroxis SD cards are a form of storage media, like flash drives and CD's. They're usually used by cameras but the wii uses one to store lots more save data and channels (a 2GB SD card will hold about 15,000 blocks)

Yes, but be sure to download the correct HackMii Installer for your system. There is an older one for the previous versions and the new one specifically for the 4.2U.

@supertrickster101 Okays I'll try to put it simple as possible XP

1: once you download it, open the zip file with your program of choice (I use winzip myself cuz it's free)

2 right click the file and click 'extract to"

3:Do NOT extract to the desktop, that's what messed me up! extract it to whatever drive the sd card is set to (Mine says G cause I have a multi disk sd reader)

4: be sure to make an 'apps' folder before you install it.

5: Select the SD card icon do NOT go to the wii channel

If that doesn't work you should go to wiki and look up homebrew channel there will be a section on the versions of how to install it.

Twilight hack, bomberban, and indiana jhones. download one of the last two and you can get it without needing a gecko loader even if ur in the us, hope it helps :3

Got the installer for V 4.2, extracted it to the root of my card, put it in and turned my Wii on, and it never comes up.

The card is formatted as FAT.
