That's really great of you to be willing to ask the nation to help your dad. I'm always sad when you mention PKD since, even though I don't have it, I only have one functioning kidney (since birth) and have a history of it functioning below normal. It's been tough for me and my mom and I know I'm lucky not to be on dialysis so it always hits close to home with me. I sincerely hope someone is able to donate to your day and you stay in good health yourself. I'd donate myself if I could!

My dad also has kidney problems along with a plethora of other health issues. He has about 13% function right now and has to say below 15% to go on the transplant list and if he goes below 10% he will be going on dialysis. He straight up refused to take a kidney from anyone in the family though. I guess he doesn't want to take the risk of the surgery or future problems if we had kidney problems with only one.
A good friend of mine actually had his wife give her kidney to him (crazy right?) but he has to take all this anti-rejection medication now since half of the side effects I guess from them are "death"......it seems like such a scary experience all in all. But the transplant is better option....and I would totally donate mine to you. You rock.

I know it is very hard to watch someone go through so many medical problems. I feel sad for you that you are going through this. I bet it is nice to have someone you are close to like your gf so you can lean on when your dad's disease gets to you. When my mom was going through surgery for skin cancer...I would have loved to have someone next to me at the hospital to say everything was going to be alright. I was a nervous wreck that day..it didnt help my nerves that the power went out.
Thanks for making this video. I recently found out that my mom has pkd (thankfully her kidneys are still high functioning), which means there's a 50% chance I have it. This might sound weird, but it's actually kind of comforting to hear about other people going through the same thing.
The nation loves you. And many would at the very least get tested to see. Im A+ but have a twinge of hypertension, so that may knock me out of the running. But i would try!

I would love to give a kidney, but someday I want to have a family, and as bad as it sounds, I want to have both of mine so if my kids ever need one, I can give one to one of them if needed.
Hey Phil, wish I could spare a kidney for you but sadly I'm kind of in the same boat. I was diagnosed back in early January of this year with an aggressive form of IgA Nephropathy. There is, at the moment, a 30% chance that in the next 5 I could develop end-stage kidney failure. Although kidney disease sucks ass, you can't let it get to ya. Just keep living your life the way you see fit and as the saying goes, "live well, love much, and laugh often." Wishing you and your family the best man.
I WOULD donates a kidney, buuuut, I'm not quite 17 yet, haven't lived much yet, aaaaand I just really don't know what my parents would think if I said I wanted to give a kidney to Philip or Papa DeFranco, soooo, yeah. I would't have much a problem if I got to hang out with you later on and stuff, that'd be cool. Ya know, that'd make my absence of one of two vital organs worth it.

Had a kidney transplant because of CKD, (chronic kidney disease) and was only on Dialysis for 3 months thankfully. Granted that was my summer...but I was able to get a brand new kidney in October of 2010. 2 weeks away from my birthday, needless to say..pretty damn great early birthday gift.

Hey Phil, I know what its like to have a father who has kidney failure. My dad had to get a kidney transplant in 2006 when I was only in 6th grade so I didn't really understand the situation. My dad was very lucky to not have to be put on a list because his brother was a good match with a healthy kidney and same blood type. It is a very serious and scary situation, best of luck. Also i find it weird that my mom is an accountant like your mom. My parents are alot alike yours.We should be friends

Hey Phil, wish I could spare a kidney for you but sadly I'm kind of in the same boat. I was diagnosed back in early January of this year with an aggressive form of IgA Nephropathy. There is, at the moment, a 30% chance that in the next 5 I could develop end-stage kidney failure. Although kidney disease sucks ass, you can't let it get to ya. Just keep living your life the way you see fit and as the saying goes, "live well, love much, and laugh often." Wishing you and your family the best man.

I guarantee that a thousand people would gladly give up a kidney. Not that it's a bad thing, but I wish people would do this for normal people. Had a kidney transplant because of CKD, (chronic kidney disease) and was only on Dialysis for 3 months thankfully. Granted that was my summer...but I was able to get a brand new kidney in October of 2010. 2 weeks away from my birthday, needless to say..pretty damn great early birthday gift.

Hey Phil, I know what its like to have a father who has kidney failure. My dad had to get a kidney transplant in 2006 when I was only in 6th grade so I didn't really understand the situation. My dad was very lucky to not have to be put on a list because his brother was a good match with a healthy kidney and same blood type. It is a very serious and scary situation, best of luck. Also i find it weird that my mom is an accountant like your mom. My parents are alot alike yours.We should be friends
