It seems like a lot of people don't realize that Dir en grey are all in their mid-late 30's now. When they dressed all amazing and were a visual kei band was almost 10 years ago. They've already been there done that with the vk scene and just want to mature and try new styles. If you like their vk music then go listen to that. Artists always have to reinvent themselves. I myself love Withering to Death and Vulgar the most, but I'll still follow their growth as a band.
I LOVE this Band! I wish I would've started liking them sooner! (I heard them a couple times in 05' but all I really liked was their popular songs) Diru is the best band ever!
Lol@the fans complaining about them being too "American". Get over it. Move on. Dir en grey is Dir en grey. They're going to change, whether you like it or not.
I can hardly watch this video. I miss the Saku type videos where Kyo is screaming his heart out. I know bands have to grow and mature, but Dir en Grey has become so Americanized, it makes me sad. I mean, a shaved head, really? I remember meeting Kyo with his orange hair and him smiling at me... T_T Go back to your roots, Dir en Grey! Stop trying to appeal to American audiences!
@MeowMorrigan Yeah, how DARE they make better music. Plus this sounds more like Classic dir en grey than Saku did. Dum Spiro Spero is better than Withering to Death in EVERY WAY.
@druglesshippie I never said anything about their music. However, I don't think this is better than their older stuff in any way. It's simply more Americanized to appeal to American audiences, which is probably why you might like it more. But I don't think it's bad at all. Just not anything like their older stuff. Withering to Death was amazing. There's too much 'growling' on their new album, which is hardly Japanese. This is only my opinion, but I know for a fact I'm not alone.
@MeowMorrigan Yeah, sure, but Withering to Death doesn't even count as old dir en grey. If you're gonna go there, you need to reference Macabre, Gauze, Kisou, and possibly Vulgar. Not their 2007 album...
@MeowMorrigan Also, Growling is in no way american. Try looking at Norway/Sweden, they're the ones who really started doing it. We just stole it from them 10 years later #trufax
@druglesshippie well using it for the main vocals americans started it by actually using the vocals england had it in early hardrock/metal but they were studio manipulated but also america had one singer who did a light growl in a early jazz song but it was more for fun and tongue and cheek
@summerchange Ha, same here^^ I started exactly 2003 listening to them and I turn 21 too. They're getting better each album, no matter what others say.
@summerchange same here lol i started to listen to them back when i was in high school and and they have been my fav since then and im 22 and i never thought i would never see them live and ive seen them 3 times already i love them!
