The dimensions dont matter when the game is going. The fact that the arm will be folded before it starts is what makes it ok. The dimensions only matter during the start.
This video was taken before the final cut of our robot, as before we put it in it's box, we cut down the claw just enough so it fits within the size limit.

yes nice idea but you are out of the max dimensions on 28 by 38 inches the ball is 44 inches so your hook claw thing is out side max dimensions
