@ShurikenDragon16 That's not really true. Toei was already starting to film Kakuranger during the time the Zyu2 footage was requested by Saban. I just don't think it ever got to the point where they said "We can use this!" and went on planning anything.

Plus, I don't think any of these battles were filmed with any overlying story arc in mind or anything, so it would have been more of a headache for Toei to NOT make it look like Power Rangers. It's so easy to spot a Zyu battle from a Zyu2 battle

Well, for Pteraranger laying on the ground, it's obvious that it's missing footages. You can also notice the fake Tyrannoranger in different places in 2:47 and 2:50.

My guess is the Tyrannoranger warning to get away was the real, and the fake was among the others and he turned around and hit Pteraranger in a critical part, and the real Tyrannoranger jumped back to join Pteraranger as well as the others, then the fake shoot them.

But the weak shit for brains Saban used "Fooled ya" instead.

No. Zyu2 is a code for the additional footage that the Zyuranger team in Japan filmed exclusively for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, their US equivelant. MMPR was originally given 40 episodes and use much Zyuranger content. When Fox saw the tremendous success of MMPR they opted for 20 more episodes. In order to do this the Japanese team shot more footage that was never used in Zyuranger, but only in MMPR. Primator ended up airing as one of the first monsters in MMPR season 2.

Uh, doesn't the Dragon Ranger usually kick the monster's asses by himself? Why is he so insignificant here? Normally, the core team gets tossed around, then the Dragon Ranger makes the save. In this fight, he doesn't really make much of a difference. Am I missing something?

there isnt really much supporting evidence, but the dragon ranger might have some weakness or detriment to him. as far as this footage dictates anyway. i'd like to think it's more than just incorperating the green ranger's waning power subplot.

I'm beginning to favor the "waning power subplot".

Now that I think about it, Burai dies in Zyuranger and gives his power to Geki. It's equivalent occured In MMPR (Season 1) when Tommy surrendered his power coin to Jason. Perhaps this footage WAS shot to accommodate MMPR's storyline. Burai is dead, after all. Any Japanese footage with the Dragon Ranger after when Jason used the Dragon Shield can't really be considered to the a part of Zyuranger.

It's not considered part of the Zyuranger storyline, but Saban did contact Super Sentai to make more footage for him seeing as how he did not have money to make footage for himself at the time. And it uses the Zyuranger suites so technically it's zyuranger in a non related way.

Because the Green Ranger's power is currently weaker at the time this monster showed up. If you watched the series, you would know he originally had to give his powers to another ranger before they once again fell into Rita's hands via the Green Candle. Later on in the season, he was given his power back, but he needs continuous recharges to keep his power intact.

Even though the looking at the wrists is something included like the brainy blue ranger, the pink/green romance, and a few other things, I think there's also probably a Zyu2 reason for it, since I don't think Toei would include something for no reason if there was a possibility of a ZyuRanger sequel at the time. This brings to mind another question, since Alpha was obviously not in ZyuRanger or Zyu2, how did the blue ranger know to have him look in a mirror? Is there some more missing footage?

umm.... thought: why didn't primator use his ability during the zord fight? maybe he did. maybe he turned into the megazord. maybe that is why he edited it out. maybe he did this to confuse the dragonzord.

I've also wondered, and I still do wonder if Primator did try the same transformations as the cyclops monster did in the green candle. That's probably why the zord fight for Primator was so short in MMPR. Even though there is all ready a zord battle reconstruction of Primator, I would love to see someone else have a go and maybe try splicing green candle footage.

The first thing that sticks out to me about this battle is how useless Tommy seems to be. At the end when all rangers jump to attack, we don't even see him land a blow, and when he returns to the ground he stumbles to the back...

My money says the "Green Ranger losing his powers" gimmick was included by Toei on purpose. I don't really have anything else to prove that though.

One reason I can think of for Primator to want to fake Burai's death is that the other Zyurangers would feel sorry for him so they would drop their guard, giving primator to attack them whilst their guard is low working the same way as Primator disguising himself as Goushi after they both fell off the top of that cliff.

Unless there's something else in the other Zyu2 footage to further support it, I think that theorizing that Toei included the "Green Ranger losing his power subplot" is giving more credit to something perhaps far simpler in the scene.

When the three rangers appear, it could very well have been that the Toei footage was being directed as if the Green Ranger impostor was informing the others that he just got beat up by the monster whereas the Saban just dubbed in that subplot into that scene.

I feel that's going with the whole loose characterizations that Toei implanted on these sequences where the footage coincides more with the Power Rangers show.

If you notice, the Red Ranger is continually shown in the Zyu2 footage as not only THE leader, but also as being very abrasive at times and even short tempered. So him kicking the fake Green Ranger is just going with that characterization.

I just love how the Zyu2 actors contacted "Zordon" and teleported(I know the effect was rotoscoped in America,but still)probably following specifications from Saban? ^^ And something that bothers me is how obvious the male physique of yellow ranger is. That dude's TALL! They should've kept the Primator stunt double, that guy/girl would've been a better trini, don't ya agree?

i think the teleport effect was just something randomly thrown in and perhaps not something toei had to honor in their footage.

that crossing wrist motion used by tyranno ranger is typically the "take out your weapons!" prompt.

the better explain myself, think back to mighty morphin mutants. the rangers get blasted by the faux ranger's howling cannon. right before the imposed teleport effect, they all make that hand gesture for weapon unsheathing.

american footage comes in, all zordon does is give the rangers "improved" and "more powerful" versions of their weapons. wham, bam, thank you ma'am. >_>

cut back to Zyu2 footage, the battle commences. seems to me that command center bit wasnt at all needed.

Beg to differ. They do dissapear from the same frame, when they teleport. Now either the Toei makers where aiming for a long shot of the japanese rangers running away from the shot (which i highly doubt) till it was empty or they mimmicked the teleporting.And about the wrist motion...it was put on purpose.Just like Blue was made smart and Pink and Green began flirting with the suits on.End of story.
