See, with no backing track and other instrumentation, and still being able to seemlessly impose such a full, vibrant atmosphere considering the two handed style, is why this man is (almost) unprecedented. (That previous parenthesized almost is might possibly not exist.)
Well, it's not unprecedented. I've actually heard even more of a full atmosphere in the realm of fingerstyle guitar, but this is probably the best solo electric guitar song I've seen that does it so freaking well, love it.
If you want to see some other musicians who get a "full, vibrant atmosphere" out of a single guitar, you should check out Michael Hedges, Antoine Dufour, Andy Mckee, Don Ross, T-Caphony, and many, many others. The idea isn't unprecedented, but it's still awesome as hell!
To be fair, there is no need to be overly defensive when people suggest that his music reminds them of Vai. Given the amount of notes on the guitar, certain passages will always sound slightly like other songs. For example, several of the phrases do sound quite similar to the 'I Know You Are Here' solo Vai played at the G3 using his triple necked guitar, however Bob certainly does have his own amazing style.
this dude owns on slash, kerry king and jeff hanneman from slayer, that nile dude, and a lot of others. none of them hold a lead riff while playing a rhythem at the same time on the same guitar. slash is a very tastful guitarist and the slayer and nile guys just have speed going for them, which bob zabek has as well. its that simple. andy mckee might have the leg up on bob zabek but still they are both miles and miles beyond where all the others i mentioned will ever be.
just because his playing style is innovative and compelling but that doesn't mean its better, Nile have perfected heavy metal guitar work, if you don't like them you don't understand their music. your opinion weather its better or worse is your own but i can write my opinion.
although there amazing, you cant really compare them, they play a completely different genre of music to this. Slash is over rated and I personally think he's a twat.
karl sanders (from Nile)and Jeff Hanneman (Slayer) are better. don't agree? then check them out before commenting me back - and i mean both of them. where as slash is a total over ground over rated prehistoric emo who should go 'slash' himself. he isn't fit to go to the shop and purchase string for bob.

Great guitarist but I imagine that when you take the visual aspect out his music would actually be borderline unlistenable.
Needs to apply all that skill and technique to writing something that people can feel rather than just be impressed at.

I hope you aren't serious...if you can explian why Slash is a better guitarist I would like to hear it. If your reply has anything to do with 'ripping it up' or 'shreds faster' I will immediately ignore you. This guy has great technical skill. Not saying Slash doesn't, however compare apples to apples and let's see who is more skilled.

You should think about doing stand up with comments like that... Dont get me wrong slash is one of the great players to come from the late 80's through to now, he also has amazing feel in what he plays. However this guy is also great.. weather you like this tune or not as you said he is a good player but why compair him to someone like slash when their music is so clearly diffrent?

Tuck and Patty have been putting out music like this since the late 80's. Even so, very nice technique; I wish we could see your face while playing so we could see the emotions that obviously go into your playing. Love the wobbly video in sync with tremelo at end!!!
