Its hardly called being a MUSICIAN if you have to ask other people to use their music in your songs. If he was so inspired, he'd cover the songs and make them his own, not use the music and sing over it.
God are you people stupid or just ignorant????? Kid Rock didn't rip off Sweet Home Alabama or Werewolves of London. He has already said that ihe was given permission to use the music in his song, since it represented what he listened to as a kid. You were "suppose" to think of those songs when you listen to the beginning of All Summer Long!!!!!!!!!!! Here's a thought folks............Don't speak if you don't know what the hell you're talking about!
Thanks to the updated version of YouTube, it is now obvious why the Kid Rock version sounds funny. It is in fact not Kid Rock at all. It is rather a cover thingamiaig band called The Pop All Stars. It now says it over by the buy on iTunes button. Not ranting or anything, just pointing out.
I knew this the first time I heard it and started singing Werewolves. Today you can copy any song, put your own words to it and win national awards for mimicry- Kid rock won CMT award for wild video, and Lady GaGa won MTV music award for Madonna's song "Express Yourself"/ "Born This Way." With all the covers, apparently originality has lost its meaning.
I'm just going to be saying the same thing as "imsomelicious04" and "Belablasco" a part from a few bits were the transition is a bit hard on the ears (7:28) I really love this mishmach of these songs. Of course I love Werewolves a bit more because it's the original one, but people have got to calm down and just appreciate the music sometimes.
I was at a store one day, and the music was on some random station. I didn't like the music, but then I heard "Werewolves Of London" come on. Then I thought "at least they play some good music," but then I realized that it was Kid Rock's "All Summer Long............."
Supreme Court "Pretty Woman" only change from the original was the "Pretty Woman" walking down the street was a hooker. Only difference. Good enough, protected as "satire".
Brilliantly done - been trying to find clear ways to demonstrate how blatently Zevon and Kid Rock ripped off Lynyrd Skynyrd for about a year now, and you just pulled it off perfectly - though Kid Rock does at least acknowledge the original, and, let's face it, Zevon's is better than the original LOL
@MagickTemple zevon wrote it out before sweet home alabama came out. the song was just released after, so him and skynard wrote it around the same time.
Werewolves Of London was released in 1978. Sweet Home Alabama was released in 1974. All Summer Long was released in 2008. Kid Rock simply made another great song out of 2 classic tunes.
Your mix falls under the "fair use" clause of the Copyright Law. You are creating a NEW piece of art using "segments" of original published art, not just reproducing it. Maybe that's why they haven't shut you down. I think you did a great job. Kudos.
Kid Rock ripped off Warren Zevon and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama simply have similar riffs; Werewolves relies more on piano while Alabama relies more on guitar/bass. All Summer Long just robs both of them. Both are great, classic songs and are catchy as hell and Kid Rock stole from Zevon and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
@beatle0922 - Again, sounds fine to me. Must have ripped a lesser quality version than you are used to, who knows. I've always thought Kid Rock's vocals sound odd, but i'm not a fan of his anyway.
When i was working a couple summers ago "all summer long" came on the radio and i got really excited and told my co-workers to listen to the song and then out of nowhere it turned from zevon to kidd rock, and i died a little inside
Seriously, anyone who lived through the 70's and listened to the first 16 bars of All summer long and didn't hear Warren Zevon should not be allowed to choose music.
Where is all the bitterness coming from MD2oo3? "Sampling" the practice of taking the words or music from another song is probably older than you are. Anyone with even one unburned out brain cell and a modicum of rock history knowledge knows that Kid Rock took Werewolves of London. I mean how could you NOT? When i first heard the song I laughed at how he combined two great songs into an "original" lol. Had to mess with the speed of Sweet Home though to make it match didn't you lol? (more above)
love the mix. Kid Rock actually suprised me with that song and i hated it on principle at first, but now i realize its actually a good song but the way you blended all three together is exellent. A+
You had me until the very last frame- the last title frame shown.
What may have been a real homage to Warren, both from Kid Rock and you, turned into a silly pissing contest.
I was lucky enough to spend a few fleeting moments with Warren on his trips to Aspen- I think if he could have heard Kid Rock's All Summer Long, he'd have smiled.
He probably would have enjoyed your video, too- until the last comment. He wasn't wired that way.
There was no mention of it being a homage from Kid Rock to Warren; it was about fast quick cash. End of story.
Thanks for the comments, the end comment on the video stays, as it is true to form and informs all those that didn't realise it was ripped (mostly younger people who would flock to my shop to buy this track without realising it was a re-hash of something better).
I kinda like this mix..I would have to say I like Werewolves of London the best, then Sweet Home Alabama then All Summer Long..but they sound great mixed together!
Md2oo3 your mix is absolutely brilliant. I am stunned by how well done it is. Thanks for confirming my feeling that I "heard it before", several times.
This video was disabled by You Tube. It irritates me that all three of these videos are freely available on You Tube and that's what I used, their content. I just mixed them all together to show a comparison of the three. Come on You Tube, if you disable this video, disable EVERY VIDEO WITH THESE THREE SONGS IN!
ok we all know that kid rock used the piano lick by warren zevon but dont say he is a piece of shit for using it. He probably herd it said thats real good and put some words to it. Nowadays its impossible to make music that doesnt sound like something in the past Dont say that he sucks and for the people who say warren zevon is so much better we all know he was a way better musician Look at all summer long as almost a tribute song to warren. Kid rock is very talented as well so dont say he sucks
i really dont think you can say that anyone sucks when they have that many hits and fans thats my opinion you have to at least respect him for mixing rock with rap and being one of the first to do it and make it popular
i think kid rock should have written his own song and showed some actual talent instead of ripping off one of the greatest rock singers ever, who happens to be dead
Only if Kid Rock did do something within his track to pay tribute to Werewolves of London. A visual of himself turning into a Werewolf, or even him doing an 'aaa-ooo' would have been enough for most of us to know that he acknowledges, respect and pays tribute to the originals. But he didn't. :-(
okay let's get this shit straight kid rock ripped off warren zevon since he's the eldest artist on here and, sweet home alabama was worked in cause rock a big fan of theirs
I work in a music shop, you'd be surprised how many youngsters bought Kid Rocks track without even knowing or even caring about where it came from. Mad me so sad. :-'(
Someone needs to get rid of kid rock at his shitty label, if for no other reason than ripping off skynyrd an warren zevon, not to mention rhyming things with things. HORRIBLE!
This is a totally cool mash-up. Could you do it again but with Lynard in the same tempo and key? That'd totally rock. I'd like to try this, two singers, one for Warren, the other for Kid Rock, combined for Lynard.
Very creative mix.Thanks for posting.
