  • Amazing performance, but the voice? What happened?

  • only diana can suprise like that! That was fantastic with that dress drop! Entertain away girl!!!

  • Diana is the perfect artist. Every song, which this great singer covers, turns into a Diana Ross song.

  • Miss Ross is wearing a gown that cost $18,00 (fabric, sewing). Yes! She designed it. You are correct,. 3 visions of Diana-mite without leaving the stage. Now tell me what are you wearing. Oops!

  • what the fuck is she wearing?

  • No wonder MJ was in love with her lol

  • i give up!

  • tears, tears, tears.....

  • She reslly doesn't "do" others songs, she does the DIVA thingy to get through it!

  • 3 costumes in one - yep baby that's a diva

  • Give it to us! I Surrender! Go Miss Ross!!!!!!!

  • I never saw this clip of her before. For someone who was about 63 at the time, not damned bad-looking or -sounding! In singing of Stevie, it shows how she can tackle songs like that as not many of her contemporaries can--I wish she still did more of those "standards" in her live acts--but actually, she has so many famous songs of hers and The Supremes', she couldn't probably fit those all in her shows, too! Go, Di! :)

  • Anyone know when this was recorded?

  • @rickw1100- not sure of the exact date recorded, but it aired on Fox in early 2005.

  • Great dress and arrangement etc but I don't really rate her as a performer, here at least. I just don't think she's got a voice that's that good..

  • @alibyrne7- you don't rate Diana Ross as a performer? You've obviously never seen her in her prime. Please keep in mind she's past 60 here...

  • I love, I love, I love Diana Ross. I even married a woman who looks like her. I know...I need help!! LOL!

  • im a gay guy and diana is amazing. Everytime i hear her music i cry

  • @bobby051476 And your real reason for saying all this is what?

  • Diana Ross has always been the epitome of glamour and class. There's only a few Black female stars that has stood the test of time and still exuberant timeless beauty with a command stage presence like Ms. extraordinare, Diana Ross.

  • GLAM no wonder the gays love her!!

  • beautiful!!!

  • Diana Ross is a godess!

  • Damn she's HOT!

She's more hotter today than yesterday... XD

  • her intro was everything!

  • EPIC... Billboard really did her well this time!

  • There are singers and there are legends on the stage, and forever this beauty will be known as one of the most spectacular lady performers of the Century! The INCOMPARABLE MS. DIANA ROSS !!!

  • Chesneysimon person...read your music history, for you are speaking only from a matter of your personal opinion which doesn't hold much weight here! Diana Ross is one of the greatest entertainers of our lifetime, and one day when your taste in real music and performers matures properly, even you and your lame attitude will realize this!!! LMAO at you!!!

  • Diana Ross paid tribute to Wonder, performing pieces of "My Cherie Amour," "I Just Called To Say I Love You" and "For Once in My Life," while Mary J. Blige turned out a rendition of "As" and Destiny's Child contributed a version of "Livin' for the City."

  • firstly, every single that ever lived emulates or copies something from some one, being inspired is natural, beyonces career is based on lies does this even make sense, she is not overrated at all, if anything beyonce is underrated for her singing talent. diana ross is the one who is overrated, she doesnt even make it into the top twenty of greatest singers alive, her voice is audinary, fuckin the boss to get somewhere isnt legendary mate.

  • @chesneysimon- what is "audinary"? LOL

And do you honestly believe the reason Diana Ross was able to survive in the business for 50+ years, have 18 #1 hits, win a Tony, a Golden Globe, an Oscar nomination...was ALL because she was, as you say, "f***** the boss"???

i think the Diana/Beyonce comparisons are tired...but don't try to bump one up by tearing the other down...

  • @mnmcv1 i clearly made a spelling mistake, 2 points to you......i didnt try and 'bump' any one up, i was replying to something, i have no reason to tear diana down, and i dont believe i said that was all because she was fucking the boss, but the fact remains she got her leg up because she got her legs over, what she done after i never really contested. 18 number 1's? on what official charts? working in the business 50+ years and being successful for 50 odd years are two very different things.

  • @chesneysimon-

#1- what chart??? The Billboard Hot 100 chart, of course. But if you factored in her hits in the UK and all around the world, the number rise considerably.

#2- Diana came to Motown when she was still underage. Most people confirm her relationship with Gordy didnt start until around 1965-66, AFTER the Supremes had hit it big.

    (continued)...

  • @mnmcv1 # 1 diana does not have 18 billboard number ones, she personally dont have anything near that.

#2 be that as it may, her solo success was help considerably by her man, simple.

#3 hitmaker? what was her last hit, that had any real success. diana sells out because her name, more power to her.

ps. a man pushing his child is not comparable to having sex with your boss, much different.

  • @chesneysimon-

#1- sorry, that includes the #1's that she sang lead on with the Supremes (in some cases with anonymous backup singers). I guess you're saying she has NO claim to them, even though it's her doing most of the work?

#2- his main contribution to her solo career (Lady Sings the Blues) was AFTER their relationship. She was already married to another man.

#3- her last UK Top 10 hit was in 2006. Between 1991 and 2006 she had 12 Top 40 hits in the UK, 5 of them in the Top 10.

  • @mnmcv1 well its like beyonce claiming all the record sales destiny child got all for herself. the 12 the supremes got are classsed as all members.

like i have reiterated to u, diana ross got an extra 'push' if you like, because of her involvement with the boss.

i didnt say uk, i just said hit, i guess we can narrow it down, what was its name and sales

  • @mnmcv1 that is correct Mary and Cindy did not appear on "Love Child" or "Someday we'll be together", the "Supremes" last 2 US number one hits. Diana Ross was lead vocalist on 18 US number ones. The Supremes are her only credited backing vocalists, even though on some releases it wasn't vocals of the actual Supremes you were hearing. Mary and Cindy were lucky to be credited on at least 2 number one hits they didn't even sing on. Diana is unmistakable on all 18 .

  • @chesneysimon

    ...(continued)

#3- I said "survive" in the business for 50 years. But since you mention it, yes, while her chart success in the US cooled after the 1980's, Diana has still been a hitmaker internationally, & is still able to tour and sell out concert halls in the US & arenas in Europe/Asia/Australia. It's very hard to be around for 50 years without some career lowpoints. Just ask Cher.

PS- & she did this all without Matthew Knowles around to push her to stardom from day one.

  • Diana paved the way for Beyonce, just like Lena Horne paved the way for Diana. Beyonce hasn't really opened any doors for anyone, they've all been opened.

  • she looks absoulety stunning and great voice

  • throws those arms straight up and never looks twice at her feet comming downthe staircase.. yep baby that a diva

  • @dianarossfannoone LOL! That's right, because she's DIANA ROSS and even gravity knows not to mess with her.

  • @dianarossfannoone damn straight!

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO. SHE LOOK THE SAME ON TV AND IN PERSON I REMBER SEEING HER IN CONCERT AND THE NEXT FEW DAYS SHE WAS ON TV I CRY I AM HAPPY TO SEE HER AND CAN NOT WATE TO SEE HERE AGAIN IN 2011 OR WHEN SHE GET BACK ON TOUR LOVE YOU MISS DIANA ROSS

  • diana is cool as hell and a real legend but her voice is not very good...I guess her talent is a matter of style!

  • @puximball i think you're right. she has made some great recordings, but she doesn't have the power of a patti labelle or chaka kahn, or the soulfulness of aretha franklin or gladys knight...but she does have an undeniable quality. she's got charisma, doesn't she?

  • like usher or chris brown..they will never be in the league of mj

  • would you compare diana in LSDB with byoncee in dreamgirls(wich she play diana BTW) ...or you watch the dancing piece that diana do at the holliwood palace and then you see that she is a better dancer than shaking ass byoncee...diana is a LEGEND byoncee is a copycat wannabe

  • oh come on now! beyonce will be NEVER a legend like diana ross, michael jackson or stevie wonder...she don't even has a classic album (crazy in love, single ladies are shit and soon forget)...she is just take in consideration cause the lack of talent nowaday and her screaming voice seems gold but there is nothing special in what she do.

diana breaks barriers and she perform in every aspect of entertainment (she win a tony award also)

  • @prettybabymj beyonce alreadt outsold diana and can sing unlike diana oh abd she has 16 grammys you mad

  • @damskooo To be a legend takes a lot more than "outselling" someone. Sure, succes is needed but that's only a piece of the pie. Beyonce copies from everyone. Her career is based on a bunch of lies. Her songs are forgettable. I don't hate beyonce, but she's overrated! Just because you show up everywhere in the media does not make you better than everyone else. It is what it is. Diana can't sing? LOL. She sings much better than Beyonce who CAN sing but

  • does too much screaming and unnecessary melisma without evoking ANY sincere emotion in her songs. She's overrated, period.

  • @damskooo - well, the only thing i'm really mad about is your frightening illiteracy...

  • @prettybabymj calm down. in 40 years beyonce will be considered a legend. Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Usher, Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige. They will be considered legends. the same stuff ur sayin about beyonce is the same thing they said about Diana ross back in the day. and look at what happened... she became a livin legend along side Tina Turner, Aretha, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight and Dionne Warwick.

  • @cchllover What about Gaga?

  • @napatpalm I have to wait and see after a couple more albums, but im pretty sure she will.

  • @cchllover I already consider Mariah one. MJB will be one too. The rest won't be to me. They have some talent but nothing extraordinary nor did they do anything to change the game or be innovative.

  • This is the best Dramatic performance with a dress by a Diva Yet.

  • She looks SO BEAUTIFUL i adore her she is my idol

  • when stevie was young he asked her "diana are you beautiful"? " then why does everyone like you"?

  • i LOVE WAtChiNq ThiS WOMANLiVE

  • What the hell HAS happened with her voice??I just can't figure out what the problem is and why it can't be fixed!!She sounds so hoarse and so strained...so unlike Diane!!God...i just pray it comes back...such a special tonality she had...!!Sendin all my positive thoughts and vibes to diane...the wonderful girl that she IS (an i mean the 'private' Diana...i was lucky enough to get to spend a lot of time with her,and i love her dearly!!)XXXX!!

  • @TheMrMarilyn she's been running all over the world singing nonstop for the last 3 yrss that's what's wrong with her voice.. it's over worked.. the bad news is she still has a lot more dates in the usa then she's off to Japan and europe and coming back and doing more usa shows..

  • @TheMrMarilyn This was a very hard period for Ross. The flop tour, divorce, drinking, smoking, jail time. She was weak here but on her way back!

  • Love you Diana, you are Royalty!

  • THE FIRST LADY OF MUSIC

  • I can see this sort of tribute being given to Beyonce in about 20 years...she has is being called the "Diana Ross" of her generation. I guess we will see.

  • ha! nice try

  • @Annazayla girl ur delusional beyonces "music Career" is a joke she is not the Diana Ross of our generation....shes the mediocre talent of our generation...what are they gonna sing "single ladies" oh yea those songs have great meaning to America....

  • @LILRuthlessplaya88 Well, no one kicked up dust when people were referring to Aaliyah as the "Diana Ross" of her generation before she died...you, like many others might think that Diana Ross has mediocre talent, nevertheless, didn't Diana Ross also? Single Ladies is the best dance video I have seen since "Thriller." And NO I am NOT comparing Bey to MJ--the two are on diff. levels.

  • @Annazayla of course not she had talent.....aaliyahs music had meaning...i was talking about beyonces talent is mediocre....diana ross is legendary!

  • @LILRuthlessplaya88 Beyonce is talented tooshe can dance and sing...Aaliyah could dance her butt off, and her voice was ok....and Diana Ross paved the way. All three ladies have made their contributions to the world of music and will be remembered.

  • @LILRuthlessplaya88 naw you mediocre! Beyonce is Legend material with your dumbass!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 i dont even have to look at ur profile to tell ur a crazed BLACK ignorant uneducated beyonce fan...hope ur happy in ur trap..LOSER HAHAHAHA

  • @LILRuthlessplaya88 Frankly my dear, i can carelees what you may think of me but truthfully you really are dumb!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 i know but ITS THE TRUTH RIGHT...THANK YOU !!!!! HAHAHAHAA

  • @LILRuthlessplaya88 no it's not so don't get it twisted!!

  • What happened to her voice??? Do you realize how old Diana is??? She's doing darn well to sound this good.

  • Well,Guys..Let me say this I saw Miss Ross at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall in 2007 and 08 and She sounded flawless. Every Singer has an off night and i've seen them when they do. Ross is no exception. She may not sound Her best in this Performance, but Miss Ross still got it and she's still touring the World without a hit Record or something to promote. Todays Young Folks absolutely couldn't or wouldn't do that. Hell You think Beyonce will sound the same in 7 Years from now?

  • @nubianprince1985 Maybe not in 7 years, but maybe in about 20 years....I do believe that Bey will be considered a legend of her generation..not only her but Kelly, Michelle, Alicia Keys, Brit Spears, Christina A., Leona Lewis, Jen Hudson and a host of others. Don't you think so? what makes

  • Excellent point @kindezi1 @nubianprince1985 This was only a few years ago the woman is blessed to be in her 6O's and rockin the house like this...touring the world without a current project out- She's pretty awesome... Singing in her comfort- vocal range is a good thing also - she knows folks still want her to sing Baby Love up High but -truth is she is not 20 years old anymore -and she still sounds good! Rock on Ms Ross!

  • Let's not confuse her good looks with good singing... this is some of her worst. just awful... what the hell happened to her voice?

  • mahoganyflame AMEN !!! ROSS IS THE BOSS, and for you Ross haters take your miserable exsistance elsewhere, now let the comments begin, LOL

  • rather Diana's voice is clear as it use to be or not,,the fact remains is she is still one fantastic performer/entertainer who can not be compared... and that is a FACT

  • Oh...give me a burrrREAK!!!!Diane is an OLD AGE PENSIONER fo fuk sake...it's just the laws of physics that human bodies (yes,INCLUDING ones VOICE BOX!!) break DOWN towards ones lifes end...FACT...an Diane's performance of this track in THIS instance IS dreadful...but then again...it's being compared to her legendary lifes work, which, for the most part IS flawless,so even SHE comes off 'badly' compared to even her OWN legacy, but this 1 'bad' showing in no WAY detracts from her genius/legend,END OF

  • Oh people who came on here and criticized this performance! Get a life! As you criticize and analyze the vocals, How many of you can do better? NONE!! Absolutely she is stunning here and as you go down through these comments you will find me listed here a few times, almost everytime I visit this website I listen to this performance and watch it like it'smy 1st time seeing it because it's all of that and then some. The night this aired for the first time in 2004 I saw it and Loved it! Still do!!

  • She looks beautiful ... too bad her vocals don't match her appearance ... but then again, she was never a strong vocalist ...

  • @BleuSavoy wrong she was always a strong vocalist considered to be one of the best. she's just old now and needs to retire.

  • @yurherenow

uhmmm ... no ... you're wrong ... Diana Ross was NEVER considered to be a strong vocalist ... hence the drama between her and Florence Ballard/The Supremes. Her claim to fame is not her vocals but yet the "it" factor that Berry Gordy saw in her ...

  • Blueu Savoy diana was always considered to be an outstanding vocalist. particularly "post" supremes . the loud black gospel singing was never her style & thank God, she's someone who refused to be put in that mold, there's a difference between being a good vocalist and a gospel style singer don't confuse the two. Her records sold by the millions not because of the "it" factor that she does have but because of her vocal abilities. People have always loved her voice.

  • @BleuSavoy PREACH! I wish ppl would stop acting like some of our favorite celebs became superstars due to talent only...come one, everyone should know by now that when it comes to black female artist, if they dont' have the "it" factor...if they can't "cross over" and appeal to mainstream media and fans, they really will not have a very successful career. This is where that "there can only be one reigning black female at a time" rule comes from. It has always been this way and it still is.

  • @BleuSavoy She can work a stage!

  • Having seem her live I'm concert more than 20 times over the years, Diana Ross has always been the supreme master of both showmanship and high style. She looks GREAT at 60 plus! In my opinion, her voice is not as strong as in the past. I love her forever!

  • I just love megative jealous hearted ***holes like Kurtsupreme...you use Diana Ross's singng group as your Ytube handle but always downing her...stop drinking haterade and GROW UP!

  • At 0:21, why are they kissing like that?

  • of course miss ross is older now and her voice may sound slightly different but she still delivers a great performance

  • ms ross is a soprano supreme she was forced to sing in her soubrette soprano in the 60's with the supremes., when miss ross is actually is a first class soprano...this vocally was her best and i love it..

  • @LILRuthlessplaya88 you've got to be kidding??? "this vocally was her best and i love it" newsflash this is some of the worst singing of her career, right up there with her American idol performance.... b.t.w. when was the last time diana sounded like diana? she really should give it a rest now, that's what retirement is all about and she needs to retire.

  • oh girl ur upset...like i said diana said she is really a soprano....in her supreme days she said "she sang through her nose"....as she said! it was different and i enjoy it.! and u aint changing my opinion...

  • @LILRuthlessplaya88 dahling there's no accounting for taste... if you think she sounds good here. Soprano?? used too be, right now she needs some estrogen, she's a tenor or a baratone.

  • YES DAHLING YES! she sounds like diana she choose to sang it how her vocals are...like every other singer who wants to sing in there range...diana dont have to sound just "pop"...she does have a range...

  • @kurtsupreme omg she sounds deplorable.

  • Sorry you are a hater for this performance Alvin4NY !!! I Still Love It !!! Ms. Ross doesn't please everyone with her sound and each note, but the silver lining that exists in every cloud is that her vocals always work for me... Die Hard Fan Baby!!!...LOL

  • WOW...Now she is a REALClassy lady!!!Some of these naked-ass singers can learn a lesson or two from Ms. Ross on how to be a lady...& I wanna look like that when Im 63 too!!!

  • long after she is gone, I predict this moment will be viewed as indicative of the period when the phoenix rose again...when Diana emerged from the turmoil of the most difficult period of her life to take her rightful place as true "legend"...

  • I will forever love Miss Diana Ross! A true star in every sense of the word. My oh my what a performance! The critics called it brilliant...

  • this why i love this woman.....this woman own a stage, sexy, classy.....omg....backup diana on stage~~~

  • She took this back to stage, jazz, classy days . . . years ago . . Ella, Sarah in the beginning then popped it as only she could do.

  • This is definitely one of Diana's most flawless performances, signature exclusive grand entrances to the stage and magnificent vocals. And as usual, classy and elegant. A timeless beauty that has maintained herself extremely well so all can see what 60's are really supposed to look like. Forever A Supreme Diva !!! I will alway's LOVE you lady !!!

  • alvin from PRODIGY?? wow how many years has it been. Still Diana hating!

  • Never been on Prodigy and don't hate her, by any means. I can be objective though and note a weak vocal when I hear it. She needs a vocal coach to work with her, the voice is an instrument-and hers sounds like it needs an oil can.

  • @Alvin4NY Agree with you on that one. but Diana isn't going to take instruction from any vocal coach... who would be brave enough to tell her "Miss Ross you're flat again"?

  • Great woman.

  • i love it a true superstar and legend

  • now that's a superstar!!!!!

  • I love her!!!

  • This performance just shows why Diana is an icon. Not just because of her vocals. But also because when it came to the stage... She was such a entertainer.

  • baby when u look like that its all that matters!

  • Wow what a performance! Who else could do this but Diana Ross! Showlady supreme!!

  • True entertainer.. There is no greater star.

  • diana is like dionne simple but the voice is great!?

the princess of soul and dionne is queen of soul!? im right??

  • i love Diana plain an simple

  • u could've sold me for a nickle when she went from a chia pet to the boss with a simple throw of the dress at the beginning, lol

  • OMG... wasn't that great! She is GREAT!

  • She sounds sexy belting out Stevie song in that key.. and not many 63 year old women can do what she did here and stand beside 20 year old women and still hold the room's attention! I wanna look like that when i hit 60 -- hell i wanna look like that at 30!! GO MS ROSS!!!

  • she was 60 when this came out back in late 2004!

  • WOw I think she sounds gorgeous singing that song! Shows her amazing range..she must be singing far lower than her preferred range but she does it amazingly well. She sings from the heart, I think that;s what always shows through...

  • nonsense...the only fault in the entire vocal is when her voice briefly cracked at the end. otherwise she has no problem hitting the notes...the key is not "way too low". Vocally its serviceable, and visually, it's NOTHING short of stunning. You're actually the first person I've heard knock this performance to such an extreme degree.

  • @mnmcv1 she sounds like shit and you know it and she does too. what is this charade about?? why is she still out on the road embarrassing herself with these vocal performances? is she going to be doing this in a few yrs when she's 75-80? she's 67 yrs old; get off the stage and enjoy your numerous accolades.

  • Diana commands attention. A true star.

  • i have 1 word fabulous!!!!!!!!!!! she still is beautiful and oh so glamurous!!!!!!!!!n luv diana

  • when did this happen??

  • Comment removed

  • why do people with ross related names such as "LoveTheSupremes" choose to leave such negative comments about ROSS?

  • Yes, she´s lookin´ like a beautiful red rose, that just begins to open, to bloom for us. Yes, it´s her stage magic :-)

  • Maybe a little raspy, but pure stage magic.

  • Great performance...

  • She did a great job!!!!!!!

  • Black don't crack the Sistah Still looks good

  • HAHAH!!! "Black don't crack!" love it! haha

  • Google Booble she sounds awful. How sad. She used to have such an exquisite voice

  • Man I recorded this performance from TV SO LONG AGO and still have it. Just lookin' like a scrumptious red rose! Along with Destiny's Childs performance in this tribute show singing ''Living for the City''.

    Copy and paste under search;

Destiny's Child - Living For The City Live At the 2004 Billboard Awards (Tribute To Stevie Wonder)

But the strangest thing at the end of the show when Stevie got up and sang himself, at the end he looked so sad, it was heartbreaking. :-(

  • Steve wonder is a man -- he did not look sad..you pop culture kids are pitiful! just make up weird shit just to post-- it yourself some business

  • HOT!!!!!!!!!!

  • She still rocks.....Diana is sooooo sexy.

  • La grande claaaaaaaaaasse!!!!

  • lots of laughs you aint right. That is sooo cute.

  • I love the way Diana drops her dress and then dance's down the stairs. She wears red a lot because it's her favourite colour.

  • I Love That dress is so beautifull...

  • That's Miss ross....if you dont know you betta' ask somebody.

  • Nobody rocks red like Miss Ross!

The very definition of Diva ;-)

  • All I can say is this is why they call her The Boss! Amazing, she worked the crowd, the camera, THE DRESS I LOVE YOU DIANA!

  • She divided her dress into three acts. This chick is BAAAD!

  • It cannot get More DIva than Diana !!!

  • This lady is a born entertainer. well taught well studied Perfect! The moment she drops the dress. Im just in AWE and the lights and when she says HEY HEY! Dont stop the music. So much sooul.

  • So Supreme when she drops that dress. I can see Florence Ballard all up in that with her. they really left a legacy and they will never leave her.

  • Diana Ross is the best. I love that dress she is wearing and her hair and makeup looks really nice too.

  • What can you say about this lady she is so grand - effortlessly. Diva, Awesome, I look how she worked that dress.
