I watched this docu the other night and loved it! I've been a fan of Joan since the early 1980s when I was a young teen. Bought her "What Becomes a Semi-Legend Most" album on vinyl (later on cassette & CD) and it was one of my fave albums.
This film shows not only why she's a success, but also a very real and sometimes sad side of her life and career. I love her and hope that all her fans and anyone in the comedy field watches this film and learns from it. Joan overcomes with humor and strength.
I saw the documentary last week, it was so sad, heartbreaking and one of the funniest documentarys ever! I was almost crying one minute and laughing the next! It was extreamly candid. The film ended with an amazing line, Joan saying "I'm a performer, that's all I am, is a performer", or something like that. It's out on DVD, December.14, I'm going to be buying it for sure!
I can't wait to see this and I love Joan, but please tell me they didn't shoot this movie with the god damned shaky cam and quick zoom bullshit. I fucking hate that crap. If you're a director and you shoot like that I hope you fucking die.
@hummarstra It's very difficult to shoot a documentary entirely on a tripod especially if you're following someone around and you're trying to not be intrusive. Unless you wanted a boring documentary where it's just sit down interviews I don't know what else you would expect from a documentary like this where you are required to follow a person around.
Joan is a cringe inducing comic genius, heard her on the Ron & Fez Show today, funny and charming, and understandably paranoid, keep it up Miss Rivers.
The first time I ever saw her was on The Ed Sullivan Show c1965. I remember the first joke I ever heard her tell. She had a terrible fear of flying back then and when she boarded the plane the name of the airline terrified her....it was AIR TITANIC.
I saw her 25 years ago in a small room in Carlos & Charlies on Sunset Blvd. She slayed the room then and still does it today. She looks the same! BTW Joan, I never got that drink you sent me!
That was awesome!! thanks for sharing :)

I enjoyed this film a lot. Check out the review at The NY Screenwriting Life. Nobody works harder than Joan Rivers.

I saw it at the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival -- SEE THIS FILM!!!

@PaulLeary how come it was on the gay and lesbian film festival. is she gay or does she have a big gay audience?
to me she looks like a joke but she is no joke cause otherwise she wouldn´t still be in the business. she was kinda funny in this movie/documentary.
