I'm working towards my MFA in Literature, and I'm indifferent to burning books. I get what you're saying; you're stereotyping all the kids back in school who said, "Reading's for fags," but some books deserve to be burned. Even still, burning a book doesn't really do anything--especially since you probably already bought the book, and in that sense have already supported the author. I've had to read a lot of bullshit, and I just can't subscribe to the whole "All books are good" scene.
Actually they should read the Qu'ran in public instead of combusting it. Especially the more hostile, bigoted, anathematizing verses, or the ones that call the believers to kill or make subterfuge against the infidel. That way you wouldn't need to burn the Qu'ran, It'd burn itself.
