  • what about the SUNY schools, they are aamazing schools and cheap

  • Comment removed

  • Wait wait wait you put Baruch and Queens college but not Hunter? what gives, Hunter college is considered a flag ship school for CUNY :/

  • The only thing you forgot to mention is that these\ tuitions apply to in state students. if you are a student that is not from that state and goes there, the tuition usually jumps about 10k. My state actually has a good state school system, Penn State but they are still one of the highest state school tuition in all of the us at like 13000 a year

  • about the cali thing. UC's are viewed the god tier of public schools, cal and ucla are viewed as kind of part of the ivy league of the west coast. So if you can't get into a UC than you probably did fuck up i highscool. Also there is a racial/economic component. The CSU's are browner and poorer, and everyone knows being poor/brown is not cool. I go to a UC (not one of the good ones) and am planning to transfer because UC's are not as good as I was lead to believe.

  • CSU schools used to have free tuition. Ronald Reagan changed that.

  • Where is Berea College? Everyone admitted pays no tuition and the school's mission actually caters to low income students. In fact many people that get into Harvard probably won't be able to get into Berea.

  • @captainspirou Berea is in Kentucky. Very difficult school to get into but if you get in, its very cheap.

  • @BrooklynJEW7 I wasn't literally asking where it was. I was asking why it wasn't in the list of good schools.

  • -_- Almost everyone in my high school either went to Baruch, Queens, or Stony brook...this list sucks!

  • @ThiaLam I don't understand...why does it suck? (sorry if it's really obvious and I'm just missing it, I'm just tired.)

  • what about grad?

  • A friend of mine in Greensboro opted for ITT tech which carries a 40k price tag for a 2 year "accelerated" associates degree. It's beyond depressing that he's in so much debt. To think that he had a cheap and much more legitimate option right where he lives kills me.

  • CSUN! CSUF , CSULB SD state Humbodlt state SF state SJstate Sacramento State Sonoma State University are all good. All CSU are beautiful. I do not want to forget about CSU San Luis Obispu Cal Poly.

  • GO CSUF! this school is the BEST!

  • @checoavalos GO CSU F

  • Not going to lie, I was hoping this channel was going to be more than bitching about tuition.

  • @clm51193 Whats the point about bitching about it ? Oh i forgot that lowers the tuition annuely .

  • @clm51193 I think everyone always fantasize about going to higher university. I never thought paying for tuition would be such a road-block for me.

  • @clm51193 I think everyone always fantasize about going to higher university. I never thought paying for tuition would be such a road-block for me.

  • I live in NC! Thank you TYT!

  • that... that's half price... but isn't that instate tuition? so out of state is still a lot more expensive :(

  • You know, a lot of Private Schools meet full demonstrated need and for many could actually wind up being cheaper than the schools listed here.

  • Queens college and Baruch college are no bueno. They are city colleges not even state schools

  • I think in the end despite the reputation of the universities, hard work effort genuine understanding of the material will never be overcome back brand names. It will reveal the truth you know. Like if you really put in the effort to learn like a foreign language you can really see it in the person if they were to be put side by side with a JC student to a UC student.

  • I think these types of topics requires far more discussion deliberation and just dialogue. I like all universities that support higher education whether CSU or UC, it is all good. Of course compared to places like Stanford Berkeley and UCLA who the fuck would compare to something like that.

  • Where I come from I get paid to go to university :)

(I'm from Malta a small island in Europe)

  • @sirsimna HMM interesting.

  • sweet!! i go to queens college

  • @dakingang3l I never heard of many universities in this country. I love to learn about different systems. I hate to look down on everyone's differences and decisions as to where they decide to attend. I do not understand the hang up on brand name. I think I care more about the experiences the students have and experience. So what is the culture like at Queens college?

  • @kazakhstanmkj its not bad, the atmosphere is pretty chill and quiet. Since its in the suburban area of nyc, its an adveture to get there by train/bus get to commuting(unless you got a car). It's an awesome school and its in nyc so your going to have fun

  • if people have a high GPA coming out of high school, why wouyld anyone waste their time at a state school with mediocre students

  • @kylecoolio12 I think it is hard to say sometimes because like some of my friends are new immigrants here so they go straight to a state university of which they can obtain. They can go to a JC then transfer but still the tuition is a problem. I mean there are so many reasons and just gaps in people that it seems unfair to judge them. I mean just be understanding and keep an open mind. At State schools, those are not mediocre students. Please stop looking down on them.

  • $5000 a year for tuition plus $500 co op fee @ Uwaterloo Engineering

  • LOL Cal State system, except for the poly schools, is a joke. It's the repository of poor students. Smart students go to CC and transfer to UC or just go to real schools like UC or Privates like Cal Tech or Stanford.

  • @CitizenofDystopia I disagree. A lot of the students at state schools are international students. They are by far not poor students, just students stuck in different circumstances. Please do not look down on them. I am a current CC student and I am almost finish to go transfer over to a UC. I am lucky. I got full citizenship and state residency. But that was not the case before. I settled for a state university, but decided why not go high, one life, one chance.

  • @kazakhstanmkj While that's true and there are exceptions to everything, the number of international students at CSU are a fraction of the students on campus.

  • @CitizenofDystopia Why are you so hard on them, the CSU students. Sometimes I think i want to agree, but then again I feel like IDK or do not understand fully. It is important for quality and to try but if this is all they can get. Let them help them and understand.

  • @kazakhstanmkj I am being hard on them, but the truth is that I think that people like Anna are painting a way different picture than the reality of CSU. While CSU does have some bright individuals, the schools and their graduates are not well known for any great achievements. UC schools have available to them a number of resources that cannot be found at CSU.

  • Another good option is to go to a junior college for your general ed classes, then transfer to a 4 year college.

  • @jfesmire I would recommend that also. Some say not too because they say Oh there is no guarantee, but in life there is always no guarantee for many things.

  • @kazakhstanmkj Saying there is no guarantee, I assume of getting into a 4 year college after 2 or so years at a JC, is silly. There's a better chance than straight from high school. And even if you don't get in, at least you have 2 years of a JC and can perhaps take a few more classes and have an AA or AS degree.

  • I would have expected to see at least 2 "black" colleges on the list but not even 1?

  • @Try2MakeSenseOrSTFU HMM, I never thought about that. Seems kind of strange for the whole country of university that only have just top 5. why not top 10 top 20 or top something? this list makes no sense. Fuck this list. I think they should of included those types of colleges. I am not too sure if this country really has those targeted demographics for those universities, so maybe that is why they do not have them on this list. Did you try going onto college board for more resources?

  • Should have done at least one for each state. Out-of-state tuition is more expensive.

  • @LadySeraph some private is just as same tuition for in state then out of state.

  • @kazakhstanmkj yeah, but it generally isn't affordable for low-income people.

  • I live in Iowa and all three of our state schools are very competitive and highly respected.

  • @JImmy4336 bahahhhahahahahaa

  • @JImmy4336 Hmm i think for everyone state there are different standards. Just as the understanding of education is regulated from local county to state to federal so that is understandable. I mean in California, it is the blueprint and king of universities for international education that people look at to follow, like the UC is cosidered really well known all around the world.

  • So I think specifically in California education is really placed at a high value so I can understand just why they may low down on state universities.

  • im about to go to ucdavis and god damn shit costs too much

  • And to answer Jayar's question about how much they're cutting for public schools: In California they're talking about cutting the CSU system by 40 PERCENT! So, ya, the CSUs are becoming less and less affordable every year. Just about 4-5 years ago the tuition was UNDER $3,000 per year. Now it's probably going to jump over $5,000 next year. California used to able to boast about affordable, quality public education. Not anymore. Now we're like every other state in the country...

  • Under 4600 a year? trolol, best Universities in my country have a tuition of 1700 a year- and the government pays you hundreds of euro in success-grants, a.k.a. if you get your diploma within 10 years you don't have to pay it back.

  • I disagree with Ana that California views public schools in a bad light. I see what she means about the CSUs. The CSUs can definitely be seen in a worse light. But Californians as a whole tend to view the UC system as very prestigious, boasting about universities like UCLA or UC Berkeley. And I believe California has one of the highest percentages of students who choose to attend public universities.

  • @caffingdu Yeah I agree. and can see that also. But I also think it is unfair being that UC system was more established and had more funding and therefore more time to establish a better reputation. Also the UC system is geared heavily on research which is really well known and promoted as. IDK these things seems so superficial.

  • @kazakhstanmkj Oh ya, definitely agree. I didn't say that it was fair that CSUs aren't necessarily viewed in a favorable light. I attend a CSU. They're great universities to attain a bachelor degree. And though I don't necessarily think that people in California look down on the CSU they certainly view the UCs much more favorably, and think that people should attend a UC over CSU. But I see the UCs as a great place for me to go for a graduate program after I get my bachelor's in the CSU system.

  • @caffingdu Good thinking. I would support that action. I am considering something like that, but just international education. For me after experiencing the CSU system now the JC system, then to the UC system. I am excited to experience education on the international stage.

Higher education for everyone. I personally do not trust studies. Who knows who is financing if it the results are geared for whatever reason. Just listen to yourself and try your best to make a reasonable decision.

  • @caffingdu A lot of school mats attend CSU. I do not look down on them because I know the truth of their intelligence. That is what matters. People who are so fixated on that are concerned over something else. There are people who do attend UC and are getting like 2.0 GPA and they do not give a FUCK. They think that just because they go to a UC it will open doors for them despite their GPA

  • @caffingdu . I have seen the curriculum looked at the books they use. It is exactly the same. So really it is up to the individual to decide to take responsibility of their education. The American education system is bar far the best system in the world...JC->CSU->UC. Everyone sees higher education for all different reasons. It can be for a dream job, the university life fantasy, or to get a better life. Education is definitely an equivalizer.

  • OR you could study in Sweden, where tutuition is free and every student that applies for it gets a grant...

  • CSUs!

  • 4600 !!!! Are you crazy!!!! I pay +- 1500 euro per year here in Holland and Holland pays every student money to go to school, also you can't use public trans for free!

  • How racist! They have the black guy come on when talking about "low income!" That's racist Anna!

  • Baruch College is right by my high school and Baruch College is a subway train away from me.

  • People will flame me for saying this but I am so glad i did not go to college all my friends are graduating at the moment most are discovering there's no jobs and they have massive debt one even realized hes degree will pretty much be worthless in ten years.I am sure when the economy bounces back things will be better for them but cant say i regret not going one bit.

  • @Tony007corp it's cool that you didn't go to college, it's very possible to make a good living without a degree if you have the right connections and opportunities. what your friends failed to do was consider what was going to happen to them after they graduated. some quick research will help you find out which degrees will get you a job and which ones will be virtually worthless. that's something that many students don't take into consideration.

  • Our university fees used to be limited to approx £1200 that's about $1950

    now it's £3000+ or $4900 ish

  • @rarrmonkey sorry it's now gone up to £9000 and most are going to that now.

I had forgotten what the Conservatives did when they got in power.

  • @rarrmonkey Yup, it sucks, but at least I'm getting in the last year before they go up to £9000 :P

Also, I'm not sure if they have the same system in the US as here where you get tuition loans, maintenance loans, grants, etc...

  • 4600 is cheap? here in austria we would start a revolution... every university had uprisings when they started to take 700 euros per year. they had to take it back after years of protest. education ist a human right and can therefore not depend on the purse of your parents. at least that's how we see it here.

  • If i would have accepted my admission, my yearly tuition would've been $40,000 lol

  • $4600 at the bottom end of the US university level? I go to one of the top 100 universities in the world, in Australia, and it's about that per year. Plus we get guaranteed government loans for the period of our study (we start paying it back once we're earning more than 35 grand). What's wrong with the US?

  • @SirPwn4lot unlike the rest of the world, the U.S considers money a sacred, holy object, so everything here is more expensive than it needs to be because people want to be as pious and devout to the almighty Dollar as they possibly can.

    in other words, we're greedy.

  • whats the site for education trust?

  • i am complaining about my tuition here in canada and then i look tuition in america and realize why am i bitching.

  • @dogthedog2

You still have a right to bitch. Education should be free for everyone, don't take the US as your standard.

  • @dogthedog2 I complained about my tuition fees here in Sweden OH wait we don't have any... Suck it Canada

  • @dogthedog2 Hey man just make sure you Canadians stop those fucking conservatives dead in their tracks when they try to deregulate your country and do tax cuts.

  • Am I the only one who ONLY watched this because Jayar was at the table?

  • Jayar Jackson should fill Cenks spot more often.

  • @Justino292

I couldn't agree more! Jayar is great.

  • Cooper Union and Olin College are free tuitions

  • @davidthefat Did Olin gets its accreditations?

  • @EngineeringIsMagic Yes, and it is a very prestigious program to get into.

  • @davidthefat My best friend goes to Cooper she says tuition is free but the cost of everything else gets expensive. She pays 1000 a month for an apartment (of course if you don't mind commuting you can get one in another borrough for cheaper). They also have to pay for food and since she's an Architecture major supplies too.

  • The Cal Polies are at around 4k for instate students and great engineering programs

  • you're really missing out on Catholic institutions with 'high' tuitions. Many have considerable financial aid opportunities for exceptional students from difficult backgrounds. Just because the sticker price of the school is 40-50 thousand does not mean you should rule it out from this study if the opportunities are available for students that can make the grade.

  • @heinleinb2 the keyword there is "exceptional students." this list is about colleges that are great for low-income average students who can't get the merit-based financial aid.

  • I honestly wished that you guys made this channel earlier... It would help me out a lot in my college decisions.

  • None in Texas? Geez I really don't feel like going out of state.

  • Five high-ranked schools that have no tuition:

    US Military Academy

    US Naval Academy

    US Coast Guard Academy

    US Air Force Academy

    US Merchant Marine Academy

  • @SamHagagaga If you don't mind selling your soul for crack anyway.

  • @SamHagagaga Yeah, you just have to, you know, serve for 8 years after you graduate. Not exactly free.
