To do a reversal, simply "flick" the right stick to the left or right...you need to time the flick with the exact moment the opponent makes his move for the transition...takes some practice!

Kongo lost the fight because reversal. It's a bit risky trying always a reversal in side control offense against a BJJ fighter with great G&P skills like Frank Mir. And he have also a weak defense against rubber guard ( or maybe he was trying to reverse it ). BTW, Mir have shown a solid game, not much technical but smart and effective. A good fight. :)
