  • You did a great thing saving this dog. The judge an prosecuters need their heads checked.

  • poor thing. if it weren't for the help you got him he'd be dead. so god bless u...

  • Tammy rescued this poor neglected creature and for her good deed the judge punished her.

Sorry but Tammy did the right thing not waiting for Doogie to die in pain and starvation.

Doogie got live his last days being loved and spoiled by someone who did love him.

Sorry but dogs do have souls and each one has their own personality look at each dog and you can see it.

Doogie glad to see you found someone with a heart a gold to love you.

God Bless you and may you be free and healthy.

  • heartbreaking to see his face near the end.

  • those people should get punished for all of this...we need more people like you in the world

  • It's good to see Doogie being cared for ... whatever scum left him in that disgraceful condition should be ashamed and apalled of their dishonorable and cowardly crime, and should be in prison for a long time. Thanks for posting this.

  • Did you even bother to watch the video and listen to the audio?

  • no they just said hes dirty hes hungry and well if he's underwait you feed him not say hes hungry

  • dumbass, they did feed him and bathe him.

  • Who could do such a thing to a poor innocent dog!!

  • What happened to the other dog in the photos, chained up the same way as Doogie??? Will he end up like Doogie?????

  • I wanna know why the owners are not being charged. There is all the evidence they need for her taking him to save him and they won't do anything to the scum who put him in that condition to begin with.

  • I was born and raised in Penna., and I am ashamed to say so now. I have been a volunteer at my local animal shelter for 14 years, in Maryland, and they would never think of leaving a dog to die the way the animal control officers did to Doogie.

  • :) aww what a cute dog! i agree with those two comments under this one! xx

  • This makes me sick! I wish I had five minutes with this precious pups "owners" I cannot believe that anyone could allow this.

God Bless Dogs Deserve Better and ALL wonderful people who treat God's creatures with respect and kindness.

I one day hope to live in a world where all animals are treated with the respect and love they DESERVE!

Animals are not ours to EAT, WEAR, TEST on and ABUSE!! Get it through your head people!!!!

  • This is so sad! I can not believe someone could let their family memeber get like this!! I am so glad you went to save his life!! Keep up the great work!

  • he looks so truely !

  • Thank for helping Doogie, i'm glad his last few months of life were ones filled wit love, not chained outside, my thoughts are with you and i support dogs deserve better.

  • He's Dead?

  • doogie is gonna look different with a bath (still wet) and inside without sun and dirt on him.. nuff said now...

  • THATS SOOO FUNNY hahahaha.

  • Doogie, we'll think of you daily and hope you can enjoy a real forever home and human love as we do. We all were adopted into our forever home from rescue organizations. Fred and Jesse had been together in the home for years and no one would adopt us old guys as a pair. Scooter was a puppy lost on a freeway and got rescued. WE LOVE YOU. Scooter Dogg, Fred n' Jesse Cat.

  • Thank you for helping Doogie, You ARE an Angel.

  • Poor dog man. It hurts me very much to see the guy in a state like that. I love dogs. Rest in Peace

  • i've no idea what the dog got up to before its illness/death. but either way, you shouldn't let something suffer like that. the best you can do is what tammy did, forgive and forget and get on with your life.

  • Than you for helping Doogie. People who harm animals need to be dealt with in a permanent fashion.

  • the dog is now dead. he died march 1st, and was tormented.

  • god please stay with that dog dont let go of him =(

  • Well done. I am pround of you and glad to know this dog got you to help him. Hope justice will be done, and the ones who let him chained to die get charged.

  • What can i say, as the tears fall down my face i can only say well done and bless you for helping him.

  • Well done Tammy, you are truely amazing :)

  • He is so sweet! You are a truly amazing human being! Bless you!

  • AWWWWWW!!! I LOVE YOU!

  • Just as well I live in the UK or I would have gone looking for the people responsible for this treatment

  • Visit her organization's website www.dogsdeservebetter.org. She's a hero we should all stand behind!! As to the post regarding giving the animal to the authorities. She tried many times to contact the authorities before she took him!! He was on death's door and she had no choice, but to take action. No one would call her back until after she had already taken him to the vet. They just didn't care!!

  • What's going on with Tammy? She is the hero and the abusers are the low down rats that need to go to jail, NOT HER. Our prayers are with you Tammy.

  • poor dog ;/

  • maybe my tears are blocking my vision but I scrolled all over your page and I don't see where to send donation.

    You're an angel.

I want to sed cash and give Doogie tight hugs for me.

  • You really are a hero Tammy. Pgh Humane Society BETTER stand behind you on this!! I will be highly upset if they don't go to court with you. Isn't that what our donations are for????

  • Thank go hes better now! hope u got all the support needed to keep him away frm those criminals...

wish there wer more ppl with the guts to stand up to what is right. Wish i cud do it too.

  • Tammy, you are my hero.

  • you have my support. I hope Doogie is doing well.

  • The Arnold's should be brought up on charges for animal cruelty and you certainly did the right thing for Doogie. I can't stomach people that have no concern for an animal's welfare. God Bless and keep up the good work! Hugs to Doogie :-)

  • I do not take issue with Ms. Grimes cause. I have no problem stepping forward to protect animals. However, I believe that Ms. Grimes should have turned the dog over to the authorities when asked. I do not know either the owners or Ms Grimes and I will not make a judgment on who is right with the information that I have available. Unfortunately, videos can be altered. If she had produced the dog when asked, there would have been no doubt as to the condition of the dog at the time.

  • That is exactly how I feel. Let the professionals do their job, since you can take video, if they didn't, turn the tape over to the media.

  • Your right. The dog should be allowed to continue suffering while the local 'authorities' get around to euthanizing him.

  • Unless you know what that story behind him is about keep your trap shut! If you knew the story you would NOT be saying that.

  • So what is the story.

  • those basterds shouldnt be charging you, you're a hero.

  • Tammy, you are a true person among a society a fakes. Thank you for your courage and compassion. I can only hope many other people take inspiration from your actions, including myself.

  • Those previous owners are sick fuckers!

  • I commend you on your fight for justice. With each passing day I find myself having less & less compassion for mankind, but my love & devotion for animals will certainly never sway. You did the right thing, no matter what any pig of a cop might tell you. Keep fighting the good fight & we will win.

To Tammy & everyone else involved in Doogie's rescue, Thank you.

To everyone else, learn from these heroes. If we do nothing, we accomplish nothing.

  • What the #*^^ is wrong with this system? The Arnolds should be in jail, it should be on national TV what this trash is trying to do to Tammy. Thanks from a lot of people Tammy.

  • thnk the gods Doogie is fine! Sue his owner's asses girl!

  • You definitely have my support!

  • Thank you for your compassion and willingness to help. For the people who do not know, I hope and pray that everyone wakes up to how twisted this world is and I'm not talking about animal cruelty. I'm talking about what's inside of people...hate, carelessness and a relentless persuit of power. God bless you.

  • Tammy, You are a wonderful person for doing what you did - to help Doogie at least have some peace before passing, especially facing such ignorant law enforcement. Good luck with the upcomming trial - you have my support.

  • Bless You

  • Tammy you need a gold start for what you have done for Doogie, your an angel of the best kind...its an amazing sight to see the dog looking a little better than the first video...His eyes say so much...Im backing you up 100%

  • OH the poor darling. Thank God for people like you. Hope you get to keep him. lets chain the owners up for this see how they like it! makes me so mad!

  • thank you so much

those people should get punished for all of this

we need more people like you in the world

  • As a part of rescue myself, I say thankyou for helping him. It's heartbreaking to see animals abused daily by their "owners", or even just abandoned. So, keep up the great work!

    -Kira

  • Thank you so much, Tammy. You are a hero to so many people, but you did nothing remarkable. You merely did the right thing, and unfortuantely that is rare in this world. Thank you for your bravery and selflessness.

  • Hi Tammy! Thank God for people like you...

  • You are such a wonderful person. I would have done the exact same thing you did. Hold your head high, you are a champion to the cause of animal rights and you did the right thing. It disgusts me that the legal system is doing this to you.

  • We need more people like you, animals are my passion.

    Good Luck and blessings

  • Tammy, I set Boney on to talk to John Reilly. John seems to listen to him for some reason. I'm sure when Central PA realizes they can't pull this stuff anymore because the world will know on the internet, it will stop. The dog warden problem sucks, as for my area, ours takes care of both Bedford/Fulton Counties, and your lucky if they call you back in a week!

  • You are a guardian angel. Bless you. Keep up the fight against the injustice and evil in society. I hope the 'owners' of this animal are treated like the criminals they are and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Best of luck in your endeavors, never give up...we are with you!

  • AMEN...

I would have done the same thing, if not got a little violent.

Here's a petition guys for Tammy.

Sign it and pass it on please.

  • I am so happy the dog is being taking care of now. This is my third post on this. I can't help it. My heart is broken. They are disgusting people and should be in jail. I have five dogs myself and we have a big yard. I let them go out and play a little but bring them right back in. I have pets because I want them with me. Not to leave them outside chained up. That is so cruel. Tammy I am so proud of you for what you did and there should be more people like you in the world.

  • Keep up the great work, Tammy! You're an inspiration to dog lovers like me everywhere. Hopefully, Doogie's negligent, heartless owners will be prosecuted for their criminal abuse of this precious dog. All the best to Doogie! :)

  • Apalling behavior from the 'KEYSTONE COPS' of Freedom Township,The owners of those poor dogs to allow them to live in mud and filth, and the Altoona Mirror for not publishing photos of the dogs and the horror that they live in..

    Tammy,You Go Girl!

    Deb Wright-Adams

  • The white dog needs to be gotten out of there, somehow, or I'm sure he'll suffer the same fate as poor Doogie! Thank goodness, Tammy, that you got him out of there.

"As our lives go on they suffer. Do not forget them,

do not ignore them, do not turn a blind eye,

remember their faces. They are the teeming masses,

the nameless, the forgotten, they are those for which I

cry, and those who haunt my dreams,

and it is for them I live. "

  • God Bless You.

  • You are such a wonderful person. I have done the same for 2 dogs before. Keep up the good work. I cannot watch an animal suffer either. Good luck.

    Cheryl

  • I think you are a wonderful powerful women. You are AMAZING for doing this! I would have done the same thing had it been me, and i'm 17. If I could I would take your place and wouldn't regret a minute of it. Charges against you MUST be dropped and given to his owners. What were you suppost to do? Let him die? Your my hero, truly. Everyone needs to hear about this. I will pass it on to everyone including the media. thank you for doing this! God bless!

  • Good for you Tammy!!! Thank-god Doogie is safe and sound. The owners should be ashamed of themselves for even trying to justify what they did to this poor dog. I think the white dog should also be removed and placed in a loving home and these horrible people should be arrested. The cop who made those comments to you sounds like a real winner, he must not have a heart and what's up with the humane society?!?! Best of luck to you!!!

  • Yay! Finally someone with some backbone! Go Tammy! Obviously animal abuse is rampant in your state, and officials, police and your local goverment could care less. I will never visit there, especially Amish Country....THE OWNERS ARE THE ONES WHO SHOULD BE ARRESTED...THEY WERE JUST GOING TO LET THE DOG LAY THERE AND DIE...JUST LOOK AT HIS FOOD BOWL..DISGUSTING...A DISGRACE THAT THESE ANIMALS ARE TREATED AS NOTHING MORE THAN GARBAGE.

    FROM A MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENT

  • Keep up the good work Tammy! We love you and the great work you do! Those people should be the ones going to jail!

  • Hello Tammy. I'm Kate. Your e-mail was forwarded to me. As many others have stated, I would have done the same. I am a retired 17 year veteran police sergeant from Ohio. I forwarded an e-mail letter to the newspaper link pasted at the bottom of your letter. I don't understand why the local authorities are pursuing you instead of Doogie's owners. I have never seen anything like this in the 17 yeras I was a cop in Ohio.

  • You have my support from United Kingdom, I have emailed the penn humane society, and the mirror newspaper telling them exactly what I think of them. I hope *if* you do get fined and ordered to pay compensation it will be a $1 & $1 respectively.

  • He looks so much happier there. How could someone just leave him where he was?? I honestly do not understand how these people get away with things like this.

As Sarah above said, you have a lot of support from the UK. What you did was admirable, and I wish Doogie and yourself all the best.

  • How can anyone leave a dog to suffer like this? Tammy I would have doen the same, are the HUmane society nuts? What kind of laws do you have?

You have a lot of support in the UK. What can we do to help you?

    Sarah

  • You are a kind, compassionate lady. Thanks for helping poor Doogie. You did the right thing. I would have done the same. Please keep us posted about Doogie. We are their voices and you spoke for her.

Didn't they arrest the wrong person or are their no laws against animal cruelty ? To my knowledge there are. Congrats & support to you from Ct.

  • I still can't belive that people can live with themselves after doing something like this to a defencless animal. thankfully everything in the UK is pritty good. Does sometimes get abused, but luckly the guys here also get to do some amazing work and dogs like that get looked after and new homes found for them.

  • A big hug to Doogie.

The other white dog on the previous video is also very skinny and living in inhumane conditions at the end of a chain with no space to run and play. He should be removed and placed in a warm home or he will end up like Boogie.

Our support and love to you Tammy from Montreal.

  • Tammy, good for you! The HS officers here in PA are at BEST overloaded/understaffed, and at worst just lazy, useless, non-animal-loving slimeballs! My fiance recently had a wretched issue with a domestic rabbit covered in oil cowering under a car, with its owner declaring it not worth effort & children chasing it with rakes... he spent HOURS trying to get someone to help him get it to safety of some kind, & we STILL can't find out what happened to the poor rabbit!! Things need to change!

  • poor dooggie

  • Good for you Tammy! you have support in Canada as well. Thank you for being so brave and speaking for those with no voice or choice.

  • Doogie is safe, warm, loved, on medication, and is doing as well as can be expected.

  • God bless you...people like you make the world a better place...there is after all hope for human kind and a few lucky K9s...my love to you and Doggie...xo

  • I live in Scotland (uk) its a criminal offense here to be cruel to animals. Can you tell me what the law is there? It appears that you are being charged with being a loving caring human being..this seems bizarre. Please keep us posted with Doogie's progress. I have nothing but admiration for you.

  • The laws here are all pretty much the same, with the exception for a few states. It is against the law to abuse/neglect an animal. But right now sadly I geuss they are more worried about her "stealing(which she didnt)" the dog. I think the police (sadly i live in the same state, Pennsylvania)are on a power trip or something. Hopefully all charges will be dropped. She did nothing but save a life.

  • Poor little precious boy! How is he doing? It is Wednesday, 9/13/06 and I and my coworkers would love to know if Doogie is doing better.

  • PLEASE CALL AND EMAIL FOR TAMMY AND DOOGIE-She was arrested for helping this dog.

    Officer Flag: cell: 814-201-0149

    Freedom Township Police Headquarters: 814-695-8545

    Pennsylvania Humane Society: 814-942-5402

    Humane Officer Paul Gotshall: 814-942-3780

  • This is so typical of PA Authorities!!!! They're a bunch of animal killers and should be tried and punished the same way that they do all the animals there. The chief of police should be held responsible for his actions as well!!!!

  • The crime is not rescuing Doogie, the crime is the fact that Doogie had to be rescued. What is wrong with this world? I am behind you and will do what I can do to support you!

  • Poor Sweet Soul... This happens far to often to innocent animals!

  • poor doggie give it to me please

  • That poor baby made me cry. i love him. thank you for making him much more comfortable. xxx

  • omg, that dog is so old and sick.

  • You're a wonderful person. The world could surely use more people like you. God Bless You.

  • I have emailed all my local news stations and nation news stations. I hope the air this and you get national responses

  • You did the compassionate and the right thing to do. These people must be made to answer for their cruelty and neglect to this poor animal. There are laws against treating animals in this way so why are they persecuting you and not prosecuting these animal abusers?

  • This is one blessed dog, thanks to Tammy Grimes. I hope everything works out great for both of you. And just a reminder: all of us can help one needy animal where we live. Offer to welk at dog for an older person who can't get out. Take a stray to get a low-cost spay/nueter clinic. Adopt from a shelter, not a pet store.

  • you did the right thing - I cannot believe the authorities aren't going to pursue neglect charges against the responsible parties.

  • I would have done the SAME thing, I would NOT dare leave a dog sitting or laying there in those conditions!!!! God BLESS YOU for saving this poor defenseless animal...You wil be BLESSED!!!!

  • The poor guy. Thank God you rescued him. These people should not be allowed to have pets. He does not deserve this.

  • Well glad some1 did something. Cant believe wots happened. I'll help in neway i can. LOL.

  • :( Cruel cold hearted people - they obviously don't care about the suffering of animals - Bring on the automatic lifetime ban of having or being around animals ! This is the only way to prevent reoffending cruelty - and it will save so many lives ! And support a law that makes it illegal to chain dogs - full stop !
