So long as all you see in this video is a cop punching a female then that is all you will see. His punch, which happened to be to her face, was an attempt to stun and gain control of a resisting/interfering subject, thats what they teach you. A police ridealong or citizens academy can help answer some questions as you see things from another prospective whether or not you agree with them.

I would say that a punch to the face is about as non-lethal as you can get. Considering the woman who got punched assaulted an officer, she was lucky that's all he did. I think the big issue with this is that a man punched a woman, if the cop punched a man this wouldn't have been reported. I just looked up the WA state law about jaywalking. Nowhere does it indicate that a pedestrian can be arrested for jaywalking, only fined. If the officer stopped the girl to write her a ticket as he was supposed to do, she probably mouthed off. The officer likely rose to her bait and allowed the situation to escalate to a point of physical aggression, which he should be trained to prevent. Both parties are at fault here, but the officer should definitely know better and deserves to lose his job.

So long as all you see in this video is a cop punching a female then that is all you will see. His punch, which happened to be to her face, was an attempt to stun and gain control of a resisting/interfering subject, thats what they teach you. A police ridealong or citizens academy can help answer some questions as you see things from another prospective whether or not you agree with them.

I would say that a punch to the face is about as non-lethal as you can get. Considering the woman who got punched assaulted an officer, she was lucky that's all he did. I think the big issue with this is that a man punched a woman, if the cop punched a man this wouldn't have been reported. I think once anyone assaults an officer while he is doing his job they loose privledges of being treated with kid gloves be it man, woman, or child. The officer did the right thing. He was outnumbered and he needed to neutralize the woman (who attacked him). Someone says "because she grabbed him" in the video and the taper says "No she didn't, no she didn't", Wonder if he changed his mind after seeing her clearly grab him in the video. They all should count themselves lucky he didn't draw on them. If he had had his gun pulled at the point that she approached him, she would have been shot, no questions.

I just looked up the WA state law about jaywalking. Nowhere does it indicate that a pedestrian can be arrested for jaywalking, only fined. If the officer stopped the girl to write her a ticket as he was supposed to do, she probably mouthed off. The officer likely rose to her bait and allowed the situation to escalate to a point of physical aggression, which he should be trained to prevent. Both parties are at fault here, but the officer should definitely know better and deserves to lose his job.

I agree that if a girl comes off acting like a dude, shall eventually be treated a such. So in light of that... yes... she got what was coming to her. But the white cop was being a bit abusive. He should've handled it much better than that.

@AngeloVEnforcer Do me and possibly everyone a favor... you, and those of you... stop lionizing an officer as untouchable. You have to decipher the difference between the right way to do a job and the wrong way. First off, the cop didn't call for backup which would lessen the escalation. 2: He didn't act in a proffessional matter either.
Now if some officer was slamming your mother around, would you not intervene? Now under pressure cops don't have time to think. I know that, I realize. But...
