  • i fish out of mexico beach quite a bit...bottom fishing and slow trolling for kings. and i love to pull on an amberjack, too! i think its awesome that you guys are sponsered by Penn. I wish i could get into it that big like you guys are!

  • Thanks for the info i really apreciate it. since u guys know about penn reels im looking for something less than $100 and wanted your opinion. Should i go with a penn fierce, sargus, or battle? they are selling me a penn battle 4000 for $85 in new conditions, should i buy that or is there other suggestions? I most likely will use braided line..

  • @mrdiaz0108 i like the Sargus and Battle the best... I have used all the reels you have mentioned, and I would go with the ones I mentioned here. Definitely use braided line. I have had very good success with the Big Game 50 and 80 pound Moss Green Braid. Very strong... Can't beat it for the money.

  • @richielottoutdoors Im kind of on a low budget right now and wanted to ask if you know any braided line of 30lb thats not so expensive..?

  • @mrdiaz0108 I dont know of any cheap braided line that will be any good.... Unfortunately, you almost have to buy the big name brands to have the scurity and peace of mind when you get a big fish on so you'll know the line is top shelf. Also remember, it'll last years in most cases..... Normally last longer than the reel in most cases. Just "top shot" the braided line and use mono for backing. About 1/2 a spool of mono, then top it off with braid. If you do it that way, it'll save you big bucks.

  • @mrdiaz0108 try tuf line xp, its a tad cheaper than the likes of power pro

  • May i ask what bait do you guys use for snapper? Is cut bait or squid good?

  • @mrdiaz0108 We use about 99% cut bait and some buuterfly "knife" weighted jigs as well. The best cut baits in our area is chunked Bostom Mackerel which can be bought by the flat from commercial bait retailers in most areas and on the internet as well. Also, squid works great for Snapper, especially Vermilion AKA Beeliner Snapper. Visit my channel here on youtube if you need some further info or type Richie Lott in the youtube or google seach box. Thanks for watching!

  • @smoothcriminal997 The Snapper fishing is closed of Georgia right now. The South Atlantic Marine Fisheries Council may re-open the fishery in a couple of years, but no time in the immediate future. They say they're over fished although we have seen more red snapper caught in the past 5-years than ever....? Government interference once again.... We can't have nothin..

  • Can anyone help me with the preset drag knob on a Penn 50vsx?

  • @aaadddaaammm777 Whats the problem Adam? Let me know and I will talk to PENN ands see what I can do for you. Thanks for watching and please see our other videos by typing Richie Lott in the Youtube search box. CHEERS!!

  • @richielottoutdoors Hey, thanks for replying. I think it's more of a user issue instead of mechanical. I was told to put the reel in freespool, then turn the preset knob, then go to strike and test the drag. Is this correct? Also, once i've got my drag set, if I push the lever to full mode, is that the absolute highest drag or a certain amount of lbs higher than what my preset is? If you have any line advice for bottom fishing/maybe some light trolling that would be helpful too.

  • I heard that some penn reels do not make lines straight

  • @Ouchpwned575 Are you talking about on the retreive when reeling in?

  • how do you reel does internationals in? they dont have a guider.

  • @Lakersrock24ify You level wind it as you reel in with your thumb.... Takes some getting used to, but it don;t have to be perfect.. You would be surprised how simply it works out. Level winds tend to fail under the pressure of large fish, so it is common to see higher end reels without the level wind present.

  • I just bought a Penn Senator 6/0 reel and an Ugly Stik tiger 80-130lb. I've been fishing with it once, but haven't caught anything with it yet. Might get a different reel for that rod and and different rod for that reel.

  • @dud3man6969 dud, what are you fishing for with that setup? That one should handle just about anything. Little heavy for general bottom fishing though..... Glad to see you use PENN reels, brotha!

  • Do you think a 50-100lb rod with an Okuma titus gold tg50wii will be overkill for bottom fishing?

  • @aaadddaaammm777 Yeah man.... In 100-125 ft especially. Thats wayyy too heavy brotha. a 30-60 rod is ample. However, you could fish that set up you mentioned but it will be very heavy to hold all day and bottom fish with it.

  • @richielottoutdoors Ok thanks, I don't think the weight will bother me too much, I workout regularly. I just want an all around saltwater fishing reel for trolling and bottom fishing.

  • what song is that .

  • @rockband41 Schwayze singing Corona and Wine

  • what song is that ,sweet fishing reels.

  • wow not bad

  • @GYPSYFISHINGSHOW Gypsy, yea, it was an average or just above average bite. We boated over 25 that day, released many of them. Fun time, no question!

  • @richielottoutdoors AWESOME!!! I wish they hadn;t shut the snapper fishing down in GA as I mentioned in another reply here. Not a whole lot we can do when the govt. has deemed them overfished. they have their mind made up and they closed it. They have one year to act when a fishery is deemed overfished and if they dont have a solution by the end of that year, guess what.... They close it. The did exactly that. Thanks for watching and please see our other videos by typing Richie Lott in search

  • i used to live right near a penn reels. they either moved or turned it into something else. are they still in business?

  • @hotwheels526 Yes, they are still in business and making some of the best reels of all time in 2010. Are you in PA?

  • YOU DUDES ARE FUNNY.....

    damn good snappers though!

Dreamed of catchin' snapper that size in the keys, but to no avaiL!

HOW DEEP WERE YOU GUYS FISHIN'?

  • @miami305black

Yeah, there is good snapper fishing off GA. It is closed right now, but the fish are here. They'll re-open soon we can only hope. We're fishing in 115-125 ft. in this video

  • what kind of rig ya all using, any good link on that rig mate

  • @kunyitkg - We're just using dropper rigs with a single hook on most rigs. Now and then we'll rig a double dropper loop... Weight on the bottom of the rig works best for me, although everyone has their own opinion about that part.... We're using 12 ounce weights and 60-80 pound mono leader with 9/0 REDFISHONE HOOKS.

  • awesome

  • @blackyrz Thanks Black!!!

  • lol! the first i went to fishing out of the ocean ..at the oil rigs ! but .all i catch are just the little and tiny one... i wish i can catch one like ur!!!

  • @andydo2007vietnam Keep on trying. You'll catch some big ones if you keep on fishing. it'll happen for ya!

  • @richielottoutdoors I think does not have to due with patient , maybe im not fish on the fish season or maybe it was my unlucky day .

  • @richielottoutdoors lol.... Come on Andy.. You can do it buddy!

  • release 1 for Gods sake.. just one, I wanna see you release just 1.

the capatin is an ace but none of these guys knows how to handel a rod .

I wishe I was with them though.. seems ya cant go wrong in their spot..

  • We released 19 that day. Great bite.

  • natural live bottom all over at about 41 miles east of the entire GA coast.

  • what is the structure u have out there?

  • @bhunter11 - Live bottom and ledges.. Holds lots of bait and Red Snapper. About 45 miles offshore of GA.

  • There never be another jupiter

  • Yes, I think there was a Captiva in this one.

  • peen captiva?
