Couldn't be put any better. The game is gear based like it or not. If it wasn't people wouldn't be advertising in trade chat their gear and stats to try and look for groups. You would pick up anyone who wanted to go regardless of gear if it didn't matter. Thankfully there is a new system in place to discourage gear requisites.
