I kept hearing about this musical The Book of Mormon on tv and stuff, then I was randomly watching Matt Stone and Trey Parker interviews and found out they made it I was like O.O
Really? People are getting emotional about a song by the men who invented South Park? The entire point of this musical is to point fingers at religion and to, honestly, make people laugh. I laughed. Mission accomplished :D And, if you feel sad about being gay or feeling under pressure, Mormon or not just....
You know, the ppl that wanna write shit about this musical, these is the writers of south park, they feed off the shit you guys write lol they'll make an episode about you;)
these faggots mocking the Mormon religion are the devil, they are the ones that swallow sperm and take it up the ass, they are the weirdos, not Mormons. these Faggots believe in nothing and care about nothing.
That "dimmer switch" thing is a real belief. The Church officially states that they accept gay people who don't act on them, and some openly gay Mormons do stay in the church while remaining single and celibate...but most of them just deny the feelings even exist in themselves, it's pretty sad.
Yep, there's an Ensign article (LDS magazine) from 1981 that teaches the same thing. It's called "The Turn-Off/Walk-Out Factor" - I'd post the link, but you can't do that on YouTube. But anyone who wants to read it can Google the article name.
@laserbeamlightning A friend who did theatre for several years explained this tone of voice to me as "Broadway Neutral." It's a non-accent that's light and neutral so everyone can understand it. For most, it's a voice used on stage and acting. For NPH, he was raised in theatre, so he sounds like this -all- the time.
The fact that Rory O'Malley/Elder McKinley is this adorable person that you just want to snuggle screams "CRUSH IT" so loudly is just hilarious to me xD
O___________O :O I... I... I'm... I can't really voice my feelings about this song... Oh dear God this was just... Funny? Offensive? Disturbing? Brilliant? I just... This is some of the best writing in a musical I've ever heard... I'm stunned...
At first I was sort of put off by how all the Mormons singing sounded exactly the same other than Cunningham. Then I realized that's probably exactly what they were going for. :)
i'd just like to comment that i am mormon, but I love gay people. Im extremly into theater, so im around gay people a lot and they are hilarious(:
I still believe that marriage should be between a man and a wife, but I am not going to ridicule anyone just because of their sexual preferances. To me that is just as bad as racism. Im not going to go to any gay rallies or anything, but I will be friends with gay people if that makes sense.
i've always been confused about mormanism and any religion that doesn't encourage questioning the religion. how are people supposed to believe what you say when you don't wanna answer their questions about the religion? thats why i love my religion, judaism, that encourages asking any and all questions you have about judaism, and almost all the time getting a really good answer that satisfies you.
@whateverworks18 Maybe it was just my experience with the Church, but I've been told multiple times growing up not to think about certain things. God could read my mind, and certain thoughts were offensive to him. This was mostly directed towards thoughts of lust and violence, but when I asked difficult questions that my teachers couldn't answer, they would just tell me not to think about it. I was born into a Mormon household, and somewhere between age 18-21 I became an atheist.
@Iardass Just making sure you understand they are making fun of homophobia right? Cause' Matt and Trey are big supporters of the gays and gay marriage?
@IliketheTitanic1 Of course i know, i am supporting it to, if you watch episodes in SP about that subject you can see theyr supporting it theyr just showing it in they funny way, just dumbasses think theyr homophobic but in the words of them "Either its Ok to make fun about everything or Nothing"! and thats so fucking true

@ScientologyisFTL The Mormon Church has the convenient excuse of having a living prophet, so they literally can make alterations to the Church and say it was a new revelation from God. They did it when they started allowing blacks into the Priesthood, they did it when they stopped practicing polygamy, and they could do it with their stance on homosexuality.

@inthedark222 I used to go to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I did so for over 20 years. I used to think my testimony was unbreakable, but the truth was I never challenged it enough.

@inthedark222 I used to go to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I did so for over 20 years. It was about the time I was supposed to serve my mission that I had to really examine myself and my beliefs. I used to think my testimony was unbreakable, but the truth was I never challenged it enough.
