My cousin has a dog that is Lasa Apso and part shih tzu. He's fat and fluffy in many ways.

K, Shih Tzus have an underbite, it's breed standard. It shouldn't be costing more to keep a shih long, less actually, face feet fanny trim & bath is less expensive than full groom both places I've worked, but you'd have to brush it EVERY DAY. Climate has nothing to do w/hair. Dogs stay cooler w/more hair, it reflects the suns rays + keeps them from getting sunburned. U keep the hair out of their face by putting it in a pony, + the hair by their eyes would lay down if it grew out to show length.

Some people can't afford to have their Shih Tzu's hair long, it costs a lot of money to groom, and plus, my Shih Tzu doesn't like his hair very long, but mostly because he's not used to it lol. I think they look cuter cut in the puppy style anyway. :)

Actually it wouldn't be in its face if you brushed it!!! I have a shih tzu and her hair is long! Get a life? I have a full time job and go to school thank you!

NOOOOO!!!! Shih Tzu are suppose to have long hair why would you cut it?!?! Just make sure you brush him everyday and wash him at least once every other week! You can keep it long that way its not hard only lazy owners cut their Shih Tzu's hair!!

Actually, Shih Tzus are known for both hairstyles.

When you live in a hot climate, you should really think about cutting their hair short. It grows back so fast you barely even notice it was ever cut in the first place!

We live in a cold climate, so ours are scruffy most of the time, but we cut our three Shih Tzus (though our puppy has yet to get his first buzz!). It's a lot easier when you live in an urban community, believe me!

I cant believe how many people name their Shihtzus Gizmo, I know they look like him or a Mogwai (Gremlin movie) and I get Yoda alot....but Im glad I didnt name him Gizmo, the day I got him, I got a Harley Davidson motorcycle, so I named him Harley Davidson, I used to ride with him on the bike as a baby, he loved it. So the name was perfect for him.

Gizmo is very sweet and active. He really was a shih tzu great ... It was simply BEAUTIFUL! Gizmo beautiful! I love it bricando see him with the York ... My dogs do not have this good behavior he has! Gizmo is cute and love see your videos! :))
