While they might be smaller, I don't think they're as good as the BICs. The mini BICs are specced for 1450 lights (says so on the packaging). I'm guessing this one gets way less. Also, the BICs' construction is pretty high quality, and they're made in a 1st world country (France). These ones are probably made in vietnam or something. I have a mini BIC that is over 10 years old and still almost full. I wouldn't take chances with my emergency equipment.
The mini BIC would be a lot more reliable though, as a smoker I usually find with cheap lighters they'll break or stop functioning properly fairly easily
@cutlerylover oh thats cool we dont have them in tennessee. i wish we did though that would be perfect for kits. i also want to buy a peanut lighter like the one you shot. but im lacking in funds. lol
@imsofly74 I have smaller lighters too such as a mini zippo loo-a-like, BUT I said this was the smallest disposable lighter in the world, and it is, I have yet to see a smaller lighter than cant be refilled, if you have one post a video

You must have no life if all you do is go around telling people that they are retarded just because they make mistakes. Sorry i'm only human and not a fucking robot like you.
i was just wondering after seeing the name of this video do u have enny small survival kit or ennythink of that nature if so would u be able 2 send it 2 me in a pm that would be great
i love lighters but i cant buy them cause im 14 and live in england, u have to be 18 to smoke and buy lighters here, but im really into them i dunno why i just really love how they work and all
Give Jeff a break, he cant go giving stuff away every week.
Personally i think the next giveaway people should have to pay $5 or something to enter then at the end of the period, the thing gets bought with that ammount. But come on, he has just had a giveaway.
Hey Jeff, you're probably already aware but I just went to the County Comm website and they now have available a smaller version of the Peanut lighter called the "Split-Pea."
The site says it is 1.3" overall length and 0.5" in diamater. It's selling for $11.00. Pretty cool.
yup, workign on gettign one,w ell see and a few others thgins to...not sure yet have to wait and see, but countycomm has their own videos here on youtube you know, you cna check otu a side by side comparison if your interested...they use the same anm hear coutnycomm...
lighter to cease to function properly. Again, not sure if that is the case with these lighters, just something to keep in mind. Not trying to plug Bic, they just seem to make one of the better disposable lighters. If you are going to use a lighter for survival, I suggest testing them first, especially considering how inexpensive they are. Hope someone finds this helpful. Great videos Jeff. Five stars. Keep up the good work.
yes cheaper is not always better but so far these have ben as reliable as bics...but as far as fire is concerned a small kit shoudl be a backup plan and you should go into the woods with multiple ways to amke fire...
Indeed. I've just had quite a few non-Bic disposables of different brands bust on me after only using them for a week or so. Bics usually run until they're empty, unless of course I lose them. I'll have to check these Scriptos out. Keep churnin' those videos out! We'll all be anxiously awaiting the next one.
In general it's bad to leave disposable lighters to burn.
I had a bic lighter "explode" on me... Not like grenade, huge fire-ball.. but rather the upper assembly came apart with a nice little pop, after I had it ignited for too long.
I don't usually post comments but I thought in this case I may be able to offer a little insight: I unfortunately smoke and, through my years of lighter use, I have found Bic brand disposable lighters to have slightly better quality than cheaper "dollar store" type lighters. Haven't had a lot of experience with Scriptos, but with some cheaper lighters, if left lit for an extended period of time, it seems that some sort of plastic piece in them will melt, causing the (continued in next comment)
just to note to everyone this is the "perfect" option, like mentioned mini bics or a peanut lighter or prmanant match or even a zippo woudl be fine, this just happnes to be VERY small, and VERY cheap...
the peanut lighter is also great, this is just a good cheap option, disposable lighters cna be thrown everwhere and be forgoten about...I suggets this for only one reason, its cheap and small...
zippos are alos very good, but you cant store zippos long term with fluit in them unless you seal off the crease with say a thick rubber band or like a piece of inner bycicle tube so the fluid doesnt leak out...
I was thinking the same thing. No way this is smaller than my MINI Bics. But sure enough...measuring one right now and the length of the MINI is a little under 2-1/2 inches considering the protruding sparkwheel (2-3/8 inches considering just the steel hood). The MINI's width is 7/8".
So...if the length of this lighter is exactly 2" (compared to the 2-1/2" of the MINI), well...
I will say that acc. to the ruler in the video, this lighter looks wider than the 3/4" quoted by cutlerylover.
That's certainly cheaper than stowing a throw-away zippo by far. I'm going to run out and make a survival kit to go next to my first aid kit when I go mountain biking now. This video just kind of dawned on me that I hadn't made one yet, so thanks for making me think of it.
ever gonna do a video in the mini bics?

Good tip! I might have to look around for these little guys. I like the Scripto compared to the BIC because you are able to adjust the flame size.
