  • by the way-btw, we have done a community garden, but i would like to incorporate a compost tumbler since many of the country children here have access to pets/leaves/watnot, i would like to teach them my method of boxed gardening, which sounds crazy to them, but, mixed with compost, u can grow anything basically weed-free, especially with compost tea we have free plots in town and tools, but nobody is from the city they dont think about cold frames like we do or boxed gardens or vertical growing

  • great video. keep it up.

  • The next time I would make the slits twice as close together so we would have twice as many holes. There was a lot of wasted space we could have utilized. I'm going to recycle it this year into an herb garden.

  • how far should the slits been if you say 14 /12 were too far apart?

  • Loved it. Thanks.

  • Very impressive.

  • Thanks for this video. I saw a barrel like this online and pretty much figured out how to make it, except the easiest way to bend open the plastic after heating. I figured I'd probably have to use a heat gun on the holes, which would probably be easier, but it's good to know there's an alternative if I need it (I have a heat lamp already). I also saw pics of a barrel that someone just used a 2" hole saw for the holes--but I'd worry the edges of the hole could be sharp. This was really helpful!

  • @songbirdsmile Glad you enjoyed it. We found out later that we could have put a lot more holes in the barrel. We spaced them too far apart.
