There is a part where he comments on his love for his wife and how much he misses her while he is away playing the music he loves so much... "I just can't wait to see you on sunday, far from the traffic and the smoke and the noise [home in Brighton]. For this evening I will play back every message that you sent. So I can sleep to the sound of your voice."
At the end he is talks about how much he loves playing music, "Just give me one way to spend my last moments alive... I choose this [playing live], I choose this, I choose this..." Beautiful song.
Ahh, I didn't know much of the backround reasoning behind the words.. I guess I was making them tell reason to how I hear them, lol. Thanks for putting it into a perspective for me.
It is a beautiful song.. one of the most heartfelt I've ever had the pleasure of listening too. When I hear it... I think it might paint my own special picture, perhaps... and that is the beauty of art.
I'm in America with my Wife and five Children....I love many parts of my country. David Ford is the largest influence that I have here with my song writing. Don't slam a country full of soulfull people that have no say for what it's Government's Dictactors discern!
Well, you can have a string version without overproducing it like he did with Go to hell. His new album seems to be the most heavily produced thing he's done, especially comapared to his last album which was pretty low on production, but sounded great anyway.
I just prefer my music more gritty and real than studio buffed up. Dav dosn't need to do it that way, his songs stand up without massive production.
i disagree entirely, as far as GTH is concerned. The original live versions were awesome but as is the string accompanied new version. Almost like two excellent songs! i do agree that this song is excellent however! x
I accidentally saw him on Last Call with Carson Daily (I don't normally watch it...but it was on) and he performed this song. This song, is absolutely, the best ever. So emotionally charged and gut wrenching (in a good way).
I just discovered David yesterday! Oh my God! What an amazing artist. This song is just a thing of beauty. Wow! stunning.

"..drove 300 miles from the place I call.. home
and I tip my hat to the angel of the north...
...
I will sailed over this country side with new friends and old
We are nowhere but man, we're alright..."
Sounds like he loved somebody very much and something went wrong.. and went sorta crazy because his heart doesnt' know what else to do.

The song is about his love for his job, his wife, family and friends. "Drove 300 miles from the place I call home" is about going away on tour...

Now I don't like using words like forever
But I will love you til the end of today
And in the morning when I remember everything that you are
I know I'll fall for you over again
... it's perfect

Absolutely. As is "while poets try to engineer definitions of love, you know all I can think of is you"
In fact the whole song says it all!
