Thich nhat Hanh, Martin Luther King's mentor, is just a propaganda tool for the communist regime in Vietnam. A leader of anti-war movement in Vietnam war, he turned a blind eye to Hue massacre of 5,000 civilians by Vietcong in 1968. In 2005 and 2007 he returned to Vietnam to help the communist regime to improve its bad image for human rights violations and religious oppression so that Vietnam could gain permanent normal trade status with the US.
In 2005 and 2007 Thich Nhat Hanh returned to Vietnam to help the communist regime to improve its bad image for religious oppression. In return, the communists promised to allow him to practice religion in Vietnam and establish Bat Nha monastery. But in September 2009, Vietnamese authorities launched a violent crackdown on his followers at the monastery, fearing his popularity among the youth could pose a threat to the communist leadership.
Peace is deciding at the very moment you are tempted not to be peaceful to be peaceful. Bringing compassionate awareness to difficult emotions is to soften and bring peace to yourself. To blend them. It takes training and a willingness to surrender and embrace your present moment. Is your largest committment to be peaceful?
I'd like to share a perspective that may empower you to see his ideas differently. Please reconsider your words this way: 1) finding peace is not necessarily easy; 2) he is fully aware of all the factors that take one out of the place of peace; 4) Let your mind soak up and concentrate on EVERY WORD he says. 5) Close your eyes and say the 4 affirmations he uses and 6) Practice often daily. It'll happen for you. Peacefully !! Enjoy !!!
building thought constructs to convince yourself you are right will bring you to the point you think you're right. Very rewarding. Why don't you just act and experience what "people who are attracted tot this sort of things" experience?

About 380 young monks and nuns who are followers of Buddhist leader Thich Nhat Hanh, have called on the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, to grant them temporary asylum, after they were forced to flee Bat Nha monastery and repeatedly attacked by vigilantes allegedly hired by the Vietnamese authorities. They say the government regards their leader as a threat to its authority due to his fast-growing popularity among the youth.

that is precisely my point. If someone speaks the truth properly, everyone can hear it and it doesn't need repeating or pre-meditation. If i hear this man speaking nonsense i will deign to tell it like it is, and nothing less. This man is not "wise", he is simple.

What he says makes sense only if you can calm your breathing. The breath has to suspend. People that do not understand this do not really know what he is talking about. That is why i think a) he is not wise and b) those that emulate him as some kind of God have it all wrong.
A) you cannot emulate anyone as God, learn what emulate means.
B) No one treats him or worships him as a God either
C) He is very wise. Basing all of your opinion on a single clip or a single subject is not wise. You should read some of his books before you judge him.
For coongnoo: Endearment means love, right? If you are afraid to love someone, animal included, then you will never live fully. Don't be afraid of grief, fear, or pain. Embrace all of them.

What I love about Buddhism is the fact that it states everyone has the ABILITY to become enlightened. Everyone has the buddha nature (maitri). It's right in front of our face, yet we are blinded by ego to realize it's presence. We as humans are in a perpetual state of ignorance and duality. One needs to maintain a level mindfulness in order to be in the HERE AND NOW. Grasping, insecurity, fear are all illusions. Be here now.
Taoism is a sister philosophy to zen. Both developed in China. When Buddhism came over from India to China it changed and adapted ancient Chinese philosophy. Also, Christianity and the other major religions have a lot in common with Zen as well.
For Toltecmaster: There are great persons among the Christians: Mother Teresa, Pater Pio and most of all Saint Francis of Assisi. I have Christian friends who are caring people. What I criticize is the Christian dogma. I criticize them for saying things like "be fruitful and multiply and subdue the earth", or "animals are there for us to use", or "do not oppose or question authority". Those are wrong morals! Zen has nothing to do with Christianity. Zen teaches caring for all living beings.
I am going to go out on a limb and say Carlos is Carlos Castaneda. But you never knew that. And how do you know Ruiz isn't sarcastic at times. One can appear perfect through the books they write until you know the real person.
For wormholetraveler: Hi, Why did you close your other channel? I liked the comment you left me on my channel. Thank you for the good comment. Rarely do people admit to making mistakes. I do. And I did in some cases. Ha. That is great. Because that means we are open for a true conversation and hear what the other person has to say. I know very little about Carlos Castagneda. But I read the book by Don Miguel Ruiz, which struck me as a very honest philosophy. So I assume he is a serious man.
For wormholetraveler part 2: In regards to Jesus, I believe what the recent scientific research found out: That the picture from the shroud is not Jesus the original preacher, it's from a body of a french sales person. They also found that Jesus was not crucified, but he was assassinated by the land rulers. Jesus is a Messiah for those who want to believe it. I see him as a regular person, but one with leadership ability, and with high intelligence, caring, compassion, and motivation.
For wormholetraveler part 3: I don't even exactly know what the ten commandments are, because I was raised a non believer. It says "do not kill", "love your neighbor" as I recall my husband telling me. I do not need the Christian dogma to live a loving and conscientious life. I already know what is right and wrong, my caring and conscience tells me naturally. And I care even more than the dogma tells people. I include animals into it. :0)
For nicolatwo: Thank you for an honest discussion. I have found that Buddhists tend to be highly ethical people. It would seem that if Christians follow the teachings of Jesus they will reap a harvest of peace and happiness. The same with Buddhists and the teachings of Buddha. The core of the great religions are one. When Jesus came he changed the old law which had to do with the "eye for an eye" attitude. However, true Christianity must be differentiated from today's "Churchianity".
For wormholetraveler: Yes, Buddhists are much more aware. I am not a Buddhist either. I am not an atheist either. Ha. I have my own god, which I created myself, because I'm an artist. His rules are love and peace. That's all. I believe that Jesus had a peace message, that's why he found so many followers. Yes, if people listened to the original teachings of all great teachers, they would see that dogma of today is not the teaching of the old philosophy. Churchianity is a good word for dogma. :0)
