Eric and Jimi were good friends, this would have been in reference to the Monterey Pop Festival where Jimi bent his guitar so out of tune and did a quick check – Eric shouted out 'What are you going to do now?' and Jimi said 'I'll show you' and went on to play 'Wild Thing' before burning his guitar.
There's a great interview where Eric says he bought Jimi a left handed guitar the night before he died, took it to a gig and couldn't get it to him. He's in tears afterwards. Best of friends.
that's so funny. that's the best Hendrix i've ever heard anyone do. people just love ripping on Paul. it's so stupid. he gets it and rocks on a fucking fundamental level most of you never did or ever will.
This was funny. Btw Clapton and Hendrix were both incredible musicians. What they did was subtle but spectacular. Clapton made a career out of pentatonic minor but he's creative soulful and never lost. Jimi broke barriers.
@Harrysound McCartney didn't just make history, he CHANGED history, fashion, culture, music, broke barriers and is a Beethoven. Did he know Eleanor Rigby was in the Dorian mode? I don't know... I think he wrote it by feeling, but he's a genius either way. Getting back to my comment on Clapton. Great guitarist but made a career out of playing the pentatonic minor scale over and over. With soul and feeling, but yup, Pentatonic Minor.
i must say.... clapton is not that good.... jimi is better.... clapton sucks at song writting.... but he has good guitar skills.... but all his songs is boring... no offense just sharing my opinion...
@valonalien05 to be honest the stuff he did after cream was cheesey as hell, some people just look like they're making too much effort to put emotion in when they play blues. layla is good but not a fan of his solo work. Although cream were fucking insane and they'll always be up with the best
Clapton was not present at Monterey Pop, when Jimi burned the guitar. FYI

Two self-evident truths guitar players should know about guitar playing:
1. When it comes to JIMI HENDRIX no one even comes close.
2. The closest anyone has yet come to Hendrix' brilliance and boundless originality on guitar was the late great MICHAEL HEDGES.

"hey man do you see if it's erik out there? can you tune this for me man?"
McCartney bashing Clapton as Hendrix once did... lol
