It would be veryyy interesting to see the models reactions after they see the portrait of themselves, these are all very beautiful portraits! What are the pencils called that were used?
wow! they are all stunning! I'd love to have my portrait drawn by someone of your skill! AND, I'd love to be able to draw that well! Thanks for this upload! It was great!
I really like the technique and skill by Davy. For those familiar with "The artist complete guide to drawing the head" by William Maughan will recognise the chiaroscuro technique that Davy is the complete master of. I will be the first in line when Davy publish a book on his chiaroscuro technique. Bravo!
@yvadmil: is the drawing at 3:40 finished? if it is and the shadows won't be smudged later on, then that is my favorite out of all i've seen so far. do you have more footage from that artist? in terms of pure draftsmanship this one seems to be one if not the most advanced. the drawing looks sound at all stages, no fumbling, no mannerisms...in such an approach someone's raw draftsman skill or lack thereof becomes the most apparent. and in this case i see NO lack!
@yvadmil congratulations then, i thought you just filmed your fellow artist so this is a pleasant surprise. it's difficult to tell even at 1080 HD but i personally like the portrait you just did more than the sample you had on the easel at 3:51. of course this is not a comment about your draftsmanship but a preference of a face where time has carved its story into as opposed to a simply pretty face. it's probably a difficult choice exactly what to put up in order to attract the most sitters.
@archangelmike07 I (Davy)am using canson(cachou colour, smooth side).Gaguik and Samuel both use a creamy Ingres paper, with its distinctive linear grain.Toan,Ajar and Farchad usually work on the smoother side of grey canson paper.Canson has a grainier side whith more 'tooth'which is handy for colour work with pastel sticks.
These artists are superb. The sensitivity in observation and interpretation are stunning. And indeed though the old "masters" are years of practice away, seeing things like this does instill motivation and aspiration at least in me as an art student. Contemporary art is so much about expressing yourself that this beauty of simply seeing and interpreting is almost lost. This is what we need more of, no effects, no filters, no after fixes, just raw medium on paper and a sensitive eye.
I had to watch this video again, & again, & again, Davy:0) It's really one of my favorite ones in ALL of YouTube. When I saw you paint the portrait of that lady I'm even more motivated to continue with my own artistic goals!
Pior que estart num lugar publico e fazer um desnho com todos te olhando te avalinado mas isso não fortale-se não sei como seria estar num lugar publico assim e ter esse velocidade ainda sou um amadora adimirando os verdadeirao artistas =*(
Fantastic Davy, Thank you for taking the time to make these wonderful videos. This really captures the essence of 'Place du Terter'. Brilliant video and editing.
There are some talented ladies featured in my 'How to draw and paint portraits:techniques from 'la place du terte'...and,weather permitting, there will be more videos of all the artists before xmas.
I have never used movie maker.Try the youtube aid forum or ask Santa to put Adobe premiier elements or magix or Pinnacle studio into your stocking.I use
corelstudio prox2 which has 2 audio tracks.good luck.
I could watch this video for hours! Beautiful people, beautiful drawings---everyone has a face interesting enough to draw!

@heirihunziker Unfortunately kitschy display portraits do attract clients.I could use a self-portrait, but that would
definately scare off the clients!
