  • usually challengers dont talk to alton but not michael symon lol so glad that he became an iron chef

  • and symon is one of the iron chefs now

  • morimoto san used the exact same technique with the tongue when he was on Iron Chef in Japan but he did it with pork belly then. The chef he competed against was a Pachon protege and as was almost always the case, the Iron chef won. Morimoto looked much younger and didnt have eye glasses.

  • I've been watching these all day yesterday and today and finally my first Morimoto battle I've seen on youtube! I LOVE watching Morimoto battles - I especially did when I was 10 and aspired to be a chef. :)

  • Thanks for posting this! It's awesome to see pre-Iron Chef Symon rock it out....helps that he's hot lol

  • @acaspers the show: the next iron chef

  • i love symon... loooove him

  • symon doesn;t deserve to be an ironc chef, there are much better guys out there

  • Is this battle filmed before Chef Symon becomes an Iron Chef.

  • @xskillsx101

    wtf?

Are you serious or just trying to get a rise outta people?

the boiling point of water changes with altitude. This is due to lower air pressure. 100c is the boiling point of water at sea level. Salt also raises the boiling point. Boiling point has nothing to do with when things are done cooking.

Nice try though using a big word like intermolecular. Did you copy and paste that all by yourself?

  • i love to hear alton say "mmmmmorimoto!" lol. thanks for posting!

  • Pressure cooking is a method of cooking in a sealed vessel that does not permit air or liquids to escape below a preset pressure. Because the boiling point of water increases as the pressure increases, the pressure built up inside the cooker allows the liquid in the pot to rise to a higher temperature before boiling.

  • Alton is a culinary expert. That's why he's a Food Network star and the host of Iron Chef America. If he made amateur mistakes like that multiple times, he wouldn't have ever got the job.

  • Live commentary on a show like this always produces mistakes and sometimes, you don't catch it. Sure, you don't want to make mistakes when you're trying to educate people but this show isn't about culinary education... at least not primarily. This show is about entertainment and showing the culinary craftsmanship of top chefs. You're not meant to follow along to what they're doing in your own kitchen. Actual culinary education that's meant for you to practice is what Culinary School is for.

  • Well, clearly our discussion of what a pressure cooker does is just trivial: it just cooks our food faster, and any talk about boiling point is just for our nerdy purposes. I was just pointing out the error...

  • No, you were not "just pointing out the error". Because there was no error. The boiling point of water varies according to, among other things, atmospheric pressure. By altering pressure, pressure cookers raise the boiling point of water and thereby cook foods faster. This is basic thermodynamics. It's why it's difficult to cook an egg in water at high elevations, where pressure is lower. Stop trying to save face by skirting the issue, and just admit you were wrong.

  • @xskillsx101 what a fail attempt at trying to sound smart ROFL

just admit that u made a complete and utter fool of urself and save some face.

even kids in junior high know that boiling point changes with elevation

  • i want Symon's shirt!!!

  • 7:16

    Sprite???

  • Cool! The stained glass window episode, great. Thanks for posting this.
