I wonder how much she deadlifts because there's NO WAY she could have muscles like that with just light weights. Believe me, I have tried. Hence, the reason I lift heavy. But this is perfect if you're a beginner.
@bl0gmOnKeY78 I deadlift 40 lb dumbbells in each hand. I do it for 10 reps, 2 sets only. You are correct in saying that I am using light weights in this video. It's just to show everyone the proper form, etc. Have a great day.
I quickly googled "youtube deadlifts with dumbells" and this clip came up, i clicked it and got a hard on straight away ._. I must admit you have a hot body and everything :P Just want to say damn your fine!! and thank you for the demonstration, i tryed it and felt my back muscles working when doing the workout!! :D
thanks for the instruction... and to all the comments that are sexist, who i assume are by men, please use your brain rather than your dicks for once when writing. that gets really old after a while and your comments only perpetuate the concept of looking at women as objects. yes, this woman has a nice body, but don't state the obvious and instead appreciate all the hard work she put in towards taking care of herself rather than your boner
How is saying a woman is very attractive is sexist? Do you understand what sexism is? And you're forgetting that up to 25% of the population is not heterosexual, meaning not all the comments are written by men. Nobody is saying she's an object that I've seen.
@jazzhandsforlove Jazz, do you realize that implying we think with our dicks is actually sexist itself, thus making you part of the problem?
Looking at people as objects is not a problem. I'm an objectivist and a materialist, I see all living things as objects. But the thing is, I see this woman as something in ADDITION to a work of fine art, and that is the competent and strong mind which made choices and efforts each day to sculpt it and has now collected her words to present it to people.
haha holy shit i did not pay attention to what she was saying i was to busy stuck on her looks. damn shes got a bomb ass body tho....10000000/10 nice job
just wondering..but does this exercise work out the upper part of the gluteus muscles? like give it that outward bubble butt slope in the lower back??
This bent legged deadlift exercise uses your lower back, too. You can also do straight legged deadlifts by keeping your legs straight. Try that. But always keep your back flat. Do not round your back.
does this work out all your muscles. im freaking out right now. i have pectorals, triceps, biceps and some abdomen. but when i work out with my back i noticed that one of my satterus muscles lifts higher when i flex. i do equal reps on every part of my body to get a congruent shape.
I noticed that the lower back seems to bend slightly at the very bottom of the rep. I'm wondering how much of a "bend" would be acceptable? I usually have a hard time keeping my back well straight at the bottom (I'm 6'1", if that's important), I'm considering either not doing it from the floor (have a small stand for the dumbbells or something) or something else?
I hurt my lower back some years ago, and while it is healed now and doesn't bother me, I'm rather paranoid about hurting it again :)
go as far down as possible without having to round out ur back. having a small stand for the dumbells is a good idea, u dont neccesary heve to touch the floor like her. i find it easier doing doing deadlifts with a barbell since the plates will touch the floor sooner and it stops u from back bending at the very bottom.
For women, we can not get down low enough with a barbell because the plates hit the floor, unless we stand on a box or steps, that's why I chose to demonstrate dumbbells. Everyone can do them at home.
what do u mean FOR WOMEN, is that cuz women are supposed to be more flexible than men or what, i say because the plates hit the floor when i do them too.
@Starbodies Yup, I like dumbbell exercise better. The barbell area is always crowded with men and every gym I've seen has only one set of barbells. But there's always plenty of dumbbells!
Hey! Hey! That's our problem now! We're so busy drooling over the smoking hot that we can't get smoking hot. Yeah, no doubt Muscles McSweety has it going on but c'mon guys let's get to work.
This is great! My girlfriend is getting into some weight lifting, and she has been having trouble with proper deadlift form. I think this video would help tremendously.
I do have one question: Why do you keep your legs bent at such an angle at the top of the rep? Is it a matter of preference, or am I using bad form? I'm a self-taught lifter, so there are probably some discrepancies in my form. I don't bend my knees much at the top of the rep. Should I fix this?
Deadlifts are dangerous only when you disregard proper form. Most of the injuries with deadlifts happen while lowering the weight; be careful there and lower the weight slowly instead of plonking it down.
The deadlift is an excellent exercise for many muscles. It is important to know that most of these exercises are hip/hamstring-dominant and the emphasis should NOT be the lower back.
It is important to develop muscles such as the hamstrings, glutes, and traps rather than attempting to work the lower back.
The hyperextension is often done wrong because people over-extend their backs.
"I want you to pick a weight that you can comfortably do 15 reps with."
WHAT
If you want to actually gain strength, you're much better off with a weight that you can barely do three reps with. Not to mention that when an exercise is "comfortable", something is going wrong.
Then again, I suppose it would be safer to get used to the exercise with something lighter.
This is for beginners, and then each session they work up to heavier weights with lower reps. But they can't start heavy like that in the beginning. And, of course, I like them to have to dig in for their last two reps. If something is too easy, it's worthless. Then it's just cardio. I'm all about the weights and putting on lean muscles with heavy weights and low reps, but they have to work up to it after a few workouts so not to get injured.
a squat brings your hips to break horizontal and will engage hips, back and quads. a deadlift (as you can see) has less depth for the hips and is a posterior chain exercise. done well you can really feel the burn in your glutes (she uses poor hip drive in this example with a silly obsession for keeping knees bent). done well your whole posterior chain is synergistic or as stabilizers.
I came across your tutorials today and I like them. Can you do a tutorial on these?DUMBBELL HANG SQUAT CLEANS
DUMBBELL PUSH PRESS
I did a search for them on youtube and found a bunch of crappy videos. I like your videos because you're precise. You talk about proper form, what to look for and all that jazz. So, if you could do a video tutorial on these - that would be very helpful and I'd be very very appreciative!
The deadlift works your lower back, glutes, and hamstrings (In simpler terms, the deadlift works your lower back, butt, and the back of your upper leg). Good luck! Priscilla
Yes, you can stand on a box to do your deadlifts. When using a barbell with weights (plates on the ends), you most definitely want to stand on a box so that you can get all the way down, without the weights (plates) hitting the floor. Good luck!
You can also use a barbell for this exercise, but it's quicker to just pick up 2 dumbbells to be able to move from one exercise to another very quickly when trying to do meltdown type workouts with 30 seconds to 1 minute rests in between. Also, for women who don't know which weights to use, they can gradually move up with their weights by using dumbbells.
Priscilla, girl I cannot tell you how many guys sacrifice form for the sake of moving more weight. Makes me sick! =P Make a shout out to those guys. Tell not be afraid of taking weight OFF to get their form down! Oh yeah, before seeing this video I wasn't sure whether to place the weights exactly in front, or wider than the width of the legs. This video definitely helped me out with that. The only gym i have to work with for now only has dumbbells, so expect to see more of me! thanks n take care
So what does a bent legged deadlift work compared to a stiff legged deadlift? I want to work my hams, gluts and lower back which would be better? The bent leg looks like it does legs too much. I already do squats.
I can't stress enough the importance of proper back technique and Priscilla's video is such an important tool in teaching this. Her form is impeccable both before, and during the actual exercise, which is guaranteed results (with no injury). It's so refreshing to see a well-made video like this amdist the other false imitations. Keep up the great work Priscilla!

I already do squats.

romanian deadlifts will do that for you.
