Granted as much as I am a hayden fan (since his start in GP) I do believe he had it easy in 2006 - alot of the main contenders for the title were injured by Setes balls up which left it open for nicky to a degree.I do think that his consistency pays off for him though - consistently staying on the bike helps him with his points whereas others push too hard and come off. Was gutted for Hayden yesterday at Assen he was well robbed of that third place

Granted as much as I am a hayden fan (since his start in GP) I do believe he had it easy in 2006 - alot of the main contenders for the title were injured by Setes balls up which left it open for nicky to a degree.I do think that his consistency pays off for him though - consistently staying on the bike helps him with his points whereas others push too hard and come off. Was gutted for Hayden yesterday at Assen he was well robbed of that third place

i think its more a case of Nicky winning his championship because of others misfortune (when sete wiped out half the pack) whereas Rossi wins his through sheer talent. Like said previously I am a hayden fan but i think the fact all the main contenders that year were injured helped him get his title, but its still a title none the less. wow after reading these comments, looks like having a US motogp champ must really make alot of european asses sore. Either way nicky hayden kick ass, theres plenty of factory riders that have never won a 500 season and have raced it for years.

Well I live in CA I would love to see a U.S. rider go out there and win for real like stoner is I don't know if I would call 8th place "kicking ass" and Kenny Roberts won a 500 I don't see anyone kissing his ass. And BTW, I don't think Rossie has to "prove himself" at this point he is the GOAT

rossi recieve so much pressure from people to win every year.being the champ is very difficult.gongratulations to hayden for 2006 championship and to stoner for this year.i am sure rossi will prove himself by winning an 8th title.but second place is also great

My last post was a little sarcastic if you people have figured that out yet? In the world I give hayden top 20 but not by much 06 was a fluke, stoner is on fire and the races have kinda sucked lately.

06 a Fluke? Actually 06 was one of the best years ever in Moto GP racing, thanks to Rossi, Hayden, Melandri, Capirossi, Pedrosa, etc all making it very close. I agree that Rossi's is one of the greatest and probably soon to be "the" greatest rider. In the end, its the guy that has the most points who wins the championship.

Hayden isn't a better rider than Rossi, in fact, nobody is. Hayden was just a circumstance champion, with consistent results and favored by Rossi's & Pedrosa's retreats. That's all. He has never beat Rossi in a head to head finish, that's my proof
