  • i don't know what the problem is here. it's a STOCK CAR! it's not made to drive like a flippin' sports car or something. it's a freakin' hatchback.

  • @alexanderocks amen to that! i got one today as a rental and i thought i was flying until i looked at the speedometer

  • This is terrible for a 2,4, and its an AWD car, really terrible.

And only 158 hp from a 2,4? What the hell?

  • @56KbModem

A nicely tuned stock 2.4L can produce as much as 200, at least.

I have this car, it makes me sad. It's fun, but slow.

  • Did you know that this is the exact same car as the Toyota Matrix?

    same engine too!

  • 0-60: 8.9 sec

  • wow. if i had that car my foot would b on the ground going every were

  • I am a Pontiac Tech and a Vibe owner. The earlier Vibes had a warm up light but the new ones do not. That light just mean that the BCM, by use of the ambient light sensor in the dash, has automatically turned your headlamps on.

  • The Light Is For The Day Time Running Lamps DUH go read an owners manual

  • i have a 2010 vibe awd 2.4 L. and if u punch it just right it can get going alot faster than that. My project with it right now is getting it to drift

  • I got a 2004 vibe with a 1.8 wish i had the 2.4, Maybe i can put a bigger engine in? it sounds better than mine i don't drive it too fast but it does get up and go even though it's a small 4 cyl.

  • if you would want to drift, you would have to change the transmission because you cant drift in a all wheel drive.

  • @101JesseP fuck yes you can drive in an awd dumb ass, look up ken block

  • how u think they drift in skylines? skylines are AWD stock.

as with a vibe...you can remove the front axles, and leave the rear, but you need to have an LSD fabricated to limit the drivetrain slip from the awd. dunno if some1 made the limited slip differential(LSD) i own an 03 VibeGT, 0-60 is 7flat & 15 seconds on a 1/4 mile STOCK , thats on a 1.8vvtl-i 180hp. but my car isnt "stock" anymore.

any all wheel drive car can be converted to rear wheel drift, just need a good transmission, and LSD.

  • @turkd21eclipse ...what i ment was that you can't drift a vibe STOCK, if you remove the front axles and leave the rear, like DraziWDragon says, then obvioulsy you can get it drifting.

  • @101JesseP

    ever hear of subaru?

  • I use to own the vibe, and the light that is green at the bottom of the tack is the engine warm up light. don't say its not, go look in the owners manual, it's in there.

  • engine warm up light?? I own a vibe also that's the headlight indicator when they automatically come on. why would you have an engine warm up light?

  • Its really not that slow of a car. Have one myself, AWD and it does move. I think its actually faster than my Buick with a V6. Haha!

  • the only thing that sucks about a 4cyl. stock fuel effient car, is you wont be going very fast...lol

  • our neihbor, rhonda has a 2009 ponic vibe.

  • no way really? thats so awesome! can you tell me the story again?!

  • if you notice at the bottom right in the tac, there is a little light that is on, that light means the car is still in warm up mode and it robs the car of revving past 5.8 grand. i drove one of those and they red at 6.3 grand.

  • I thought that was the running lights indicator.

  • I hate to break it to you but I own a pontiac vibe and that light means that the headlights are on...

also if you pay close attention he is in an automatic with the awd tranny... they only rev to 6100rpms b4 shifting, unless forcefully shifted.

and mine is the gt with the manual tranny and it redlines at 6600

  • you haven't read your owners manual have you? the green light is not always on. that isn't the light indicator. if you are looking at the blue high beams light, thats not what i am talking about. go read in your owners manual before you tell me its the light indicator.

  • the 03-07 Vibe GT redlines at 8100 stock.

    however,

03 has 180hp @91 octane (can only put premium fuel)

    04 has 174hp @91 (can put 89 or higher)

05 has 170hp (Can put anything in it)

    06 has 164hp same as 05

there was no gt or AWD models in 07 or 08

  • We have a 2009 pontiac vibe and it's pretty cool the only thing i dont like about it is that the leg room is not comfertable in the front passenger cause i have such long legs that its hard for me not to hit the the dash with my knees!!! yes i have the seat all the way back!!! hahahaha

  • Glad to see it's got a real transmission instead of the CVT. CVT should only be in scooters where it started.

  • definetely not bad for a four-banger. Sounds decent too

  • They should have used the Ecotec LE5 2.4L (Ion, Cobalt, HHR, etc.) w/175hp. Hell of a little engine.

  • This is a toyota 2.4L engine. Not any worse than the Ecotec

  • I am aware this is a Toyota engine, but the Ecotec has more hp + more torque.

  • But the toyota engine will likely be more reliable in the long run

  • that is what everyone thinks, it is all perception.

  • correct!

  • this is eco tec engine. 2.4

  • Wrong, this is a Toyota 2.4L engine, not an ecotec. The vibe is a Toyota designed car, known as the Matrix. The interior, powertrain, is all designed by toyota. Only difference is the steering and suspension were tuned by GM.

  • nope, toyota engine with toyota everything. all gm did was do some 'tuning' if you could even call it that and slap pontiac badges on it.

  • My last car was a 2003 Vibe GT w/ the VVTi 1.8, man you really had to row the gears to get anywhere in that thing. It was fun at first reving it to 6200 RPM's to get that surge, but after awhile, it became really a chore. I am much happier w/ my CTS. Although perhaps my next CTS will have the 6spd manny

  • Gm needs to start putting 5 speed plus auto trans in their cars, their mpg will magically rise as well.

  • The 4-speed auto is unique to the 2.4-liter AWD Vibe (as well as the 2.4-liter AWD Matrix).

The 2.4-liter is fitted with a 5-speed auto in the FWD Vibe. The 2.4 is standard in the Vibe GT and optional in the base Vibe. The 1.8-liter is stuck with the 4-speed auto, as well.

  • Agreed ... or better yet, 6. A good transmission makes a huge amount of difference.

  • agreed, but also consider this powertrain, is sourced from Toyota.

  • @bmtimv its actually toyota that needed to do that because they designed the vibe, its the same thing as the matrix. but gm needs to put 5 or 6 speed trannys in everything too
