  • Fail...butane? flame touching? way to ruin a cigar.

  • The flame should not touch the cigar, but this isn't a bad method. To each their own.

  • Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

  • @mouse743 and in the words of geroge calin sometimes its a big brown dick

  • never use BUTANE, it will ruin the flavor, you must use a WOOD MATCH, no BUTANE in a wood match

  • what are you fucking retarded? out of curiosity how would you describe the taste of butane

  • I love being Latino. Because when you smoke a cigar, its no longer only a pleasure, but it becomes a tradition.

  • Comment removed

  • bloody hell. why didnt he just get a flame thrower to light his cigar?

  • if the flame touch the cigar, it will taste burnt.

  • i was being sarcastic :)

  • when the lighter actually TOUCHES the Cigar, it takes away the flavor, you should toast from a distance, make sure it is EVENLY lit and then enjoy! Cigars are about relaxation and flavor, cigarettes are for people who can't sit down and appreciate life and the beauty of it

  • @UberNoob33 THANK YOU! FINALLY a smart and clever person that understands what cigars REALLY are about! Couldn't say it better myself. I hate when cigarettsmokers smokes a cigar and think that they are cool or something just because the smoke a cigar. They seem to think that they are Tony Montana or something. They should learn what cigars truly are about first and then hope that they will understand. Some people don't understand, just as you said, "life and the beauty of it".:)

  • butane???

  • omg i always inhalate can u???

  • No. Don't inhale. The point of a cigar is to taste the smoke (tastebuds in your mouth - not your lungs). Draw it into your mouth and puff it out again - don't inhale the smoke directly into your lungs.

  • thx man now realy better

  • Very stupid guy.

  • don't you wanna explain why? envious baffoon.

  • Say:explain me,please! And then,maybe i will explain you.

  • explain me,please!

there, I copy pasted it ^^

  • Their are some who would say that you shouldn't let the flame actually touch the foot of the cigar during the pre-light, or "toasting", process. But, as with other elements of the cigar lighting ritual (what kind of cutter, whether to use matches, a lighter, etc.), I think it's a matter of preference.

  • I have also been taught that the flame should never touch the cigar.

Should the cigar enter the mouth,

before I have lit it properly?

  • Provided that you sufficiently toasted the cigar first, I would say that it's okay to bring the cigar to your lips. I to have heard that the flame shouldn't physically touch the cigar. Personally, I follow this "creed" during the toasting process. When I feel that the foot of the cigar has been "browned" (to use a food prep term), I will put the flame in physical contact with the cigar, rotating it as I gently draw air through the cigar to complete the lighting. This is what works for me.

  • Each to our own.

  • Agreed.

  • what i do it roast the foot until about 50% of the foot turns red when i draw from it (usually forms a red ring) and then puff until the entire foot is lit. this way i never touch the flame to the cigar and the core of the cigar is lit with much cooler embers, as opposed to a flame. i have had very good results with this method, it seems to burn smoother and more evenly with no tongue-bite. just my two cents.

  • Thank You Apotheisis. That is a technique I will have to try for myself.

[Do you rotate the cigar slowly, or not at all, at the start of the roasting?]

  • i do rotate it. one reason i continue to use this method is that it makes the outside of the cigar burn slightly before the inside. if a cigar is lit too quickly and the inside begins to burn first, and there is a possibility of it breaking through to the surface unevenly, resulting in an uneven burn. also, this method prevents the cigar from flaring up when you light it, as seen in this video. i tend to avoid that.

  • I rotate [the cigar] myself, while toasting the foot, keeping the flame from touching at all times. I usually take the first puff when the foot begins to show a small amount of ash on it.

  • Zack80100 that is the third exact same comment i've seen from you on cigar videos, since butane is a colorless, odorless and flavorless gas, it is safe for lighting cigars. Movies like hellboy are confusing people on simple cigar basics, making kids like you think they know more than everyone else.

  • yep.

Also if you pay attention, the lighter on hellboy is not a butane lighter, it is a zippo.

zippo lighters have a distinct flavor/smell to them, which is why they are frowned upon by cigar, and weed, eficianados.

  • U cant put the cigar inside the flame. never.

  • ok stop fucking talking about WoW or any fucking shit, talk bout cigars biches..

  • Did that guy just use a lighter? Lol this video is bullshit. You are supposed to use wooden matches or a splint.

  • Nothin' better than a fine cigar on occassion

  • Cigars>Cigarettes.

Not all cigars are expensive; you can get good cheap ones.

(My type- The Montecristo Edmundo, when i can afford some!)

  • hey what's that song in the background?

  • i knew a guy that smoked...then he bought a cigar 2 years later...BAM! Herpes.

  • haha

  • hell yea. smoke weed.

  • i bet it costs more to by weed than a cigar

  • How about,

    1. Don't go to a cigar video if you're gonna gloat about how healthy you are and how terrible tobacco is,

    2. Don't push stoner gob, it's dumb and we've heard it all (don't get me wrong, I do have stoner friends, it just gets annoying),

    3. Don't be a moron. I barely have a penny to my name, and I smoke cigars,

    4. You might have a point there, but still, don't encourage them.

  • wait who were you referring to in that comment??

  • Right!!!!!!

  • it does u knw lol

  • I believe, and someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, that inhaling cigar smoke is somewhat like swallowing a little of the dip if you're dipping. I mean, you end up with the same effect- feeling a little sick. The first time I smoked a cigar I inhaled the smoke and felt pretty damn sick to my stomach. I have friends who dip who have told me they threw up after swallowing that stuff.

But like dip, you can get used to it and get away with it- some people don't spit when they dip

  • Those who have smoked cigars (or dip'ed) for years or just hard core smokers/dipp'ers can inhale/swallow them. But cigars are more for just flavor not a nicotine kick (yes you do get a small amount). You smoke them to taste the different complex flavors (peppers, coffee, cidar, ect, ect). That's my take on it.

  • Yeah you do eventually get used to it, but like LoveThyPitBull said, you smoke cigars to taste all the complex flavours within the smoke, they are very relaxing and not supposed to be inhaled... People that fully inhale there cigar smoke are simply not doing it right, compare them to someone shooting a fine wine out of a shot glass... they're doing it wrong.

  • cigarillo's are nice to inhale for flavor as well as the high, but if you have a fine cigar you do not inhale. just enjoy the flavor and look badass

  • haha LOL ..badass >D

  • I'm gonna correct you because you're wrong! I'm a real cigarsmoker! I dont smoke cigars like cigaretts, i smoke it because of the taste, the passion and the enjoyment! Cigar is about taste! And the enjoyment! It's not about the smoking! You're not gonna inhale the smoke down to your loungs! That's wrong! You're just gonna inhale it into your mouth! Keep it there for a few seconds and then slowly blow out the smoke and feel the taste! Have a good cigarlife! Greetings! Martin!

  • It's also really important, if you're smoking a fine cigar, to wear a sports jacket and a button-down shirt with the top button unbuttoned.

  • i was told the best way to light a cigar was to use a match rather than a petrol lighter, and blow on the end if it is partially lite instead of leaving it exposed to open flame..

    feedback would appreciated..thanks

  • The best way is to either use a butane torch lighter or one of those cedar strips. Contrary to what many people say, a standard zippo will work fine (from personal experience). Using a match is fine too, but wait until the tip is burnt out or fallen off so it won't effect the taste.

Butane lighters are also very handy when it's windy out, fyi

  • isnt it hard to light it with a match i mean even with a torch you have to be so careful

  • omfg thos boxs look so good

  • i rly just felt like smoking a cigar

  • what cigar is he smoking there?

  • muy bueno!

  • it's need only a lion lung

  • it is good smoke cigars sometimes but not too much

  • how many time per month?

  • Anyone know the name of the song starting at 1:24?

    D:

  • its De Cigarro En Cigarro by Cuarteto Tiempo

  • did anyone ever tell you the name of the song? its a pimpy song for sure!! lemme know if ya did. thanks

  • its De Cigarro En Cigarro by Cuarteto Tiempo

  • When you smoke a cigar does it damage your lungs? is it harder to run?

  • no my friend you dont even need to inhale the smoke, cigars are for chilling out slow light puffs maybe a ring or 2

  • if u inhale it it is bad for you but your not spouse to inhale. your just spouse to play with it

  • Yes, smoking cigars damage your lungs. Even if you don't inhale, some of the smoke still travels to your lungs. It's also harmful to your mouth and throat. I wouldn't say they are as bad as cigarettes, but they are still harmful. Not trying to be an asshole, commenting on a cigar video. Just giving you an honest answer. Enjoy them in moderation.

  • they also dont add all that crap (amonia, tar) in fine cigars

    un-like cigarettes

  • yea but the bigger worry about cigar is getting mouth or throat cancer, not so much lung

  • True, But it's a hit or miss situation. Example, both my parents developed cancer, 99.9999% cigarette's fault. My Grandfather is 79, quit smoking at....I'd say 30ish, but smokes stogies. No Mouth-throat-lung cancer. A lot of Cigar smokers don't do it every day, or else just do it sometimes. I don't know chain-puffers.

  • Yeah, generally people that smoke cigars smoke them occasionally not habitually, like some cigaret smokers will smoke a pack a day.

  • you are !

  • Wow. You ACTUALLY want to start something with me on my opinion of cigars. What are ya, 12?

  • no im 25 you prick !

  • Then act like it.

  • sorry mummy

  • LOL

  • haha please tell me you guys are getting your own show! :p

  • Wouldn't know how it'd go...lol :P

  • wats the name of the song? como se llama la qancion?

  • do you inhale cigar smoke or just let it sit in your mouth??

  • you puff it and just smell the aroma of it if you inhale cigar you get sick

  • wow, your pretty tough! you can say nigger over youtube! well fucking done.

  • yes i believe i am quite tough and i appreciate your congratulations on a job well done. i also hope to hear from you in the future so please feel free to respond to this message at any time.

  • I think you need to understand what satire is, Internet Hard Man.

  • well i think i have a pretty decent grasp of internet satire and i don't appreciate you making comments about the density of my penis

  • Not bad, except the flame shouldn't touch the foot of the cigar. Light with as little flame as possible by holding the cigar about 1/2" over the flame and drawing the flam to the cigar, not by sticking the cigar in the flame itself.

  • that songs annoying

  • yeah... that's pretty much the way to do it. I favor wooden matches as JELINEK18 mentions below, but I have no quarrel with the torch.

  • I train alot, but I smoke..

Well, I smoke cigarillos. Not very often, maybe 1 time every 3 month.

  • all good but not use lighter use wooden matches to light a tabaco.

  • it should be alright if its butane lighter

  • now... can someone teach me how to light a bad cigar?

  • get ya a flamethrower!

  • isnt it bad to slobber on the end with sticker? he says to wet it

  • from what i have heard a lighter just ruins the cigar so you should use matches

  • made from special wood, if you really care, lol.

  • TRU DAT!

  • Not if its butane though

  • Lighters only ruin cigars if they're oil lighters. It's a common misconception. Basically speaking, things like barbecue lighters are not what you want to use. But I've used a bic on a cigar before and the flavor was no different.

  • ok, was not sure hade only heard that it did, thx for the info

  • Yikes--the guy is an amateur. That's not you like up a cigar--you'll ruin it. (sigh).

  • DON"T USE A LIGHTER!!! MATCHES!! Just follow smeltersam's advice.

  • this guy is so f-ing pretentious. look at him nodding after he lights it up. typical beverly hills stuck up prick

  • Use a match, NOT A LIGHTER

dont touch the flame to it

roll the cigar as you light to start even burn

    cigar ashses itself

keep the label on till the end

  • Right on dude. Best advice.

  • its ok to use a lighter if it runs on butane, doesn't leave any odor or side taste.

  • TUTOU is correct folks, using a wood match, or better yet, a piece of cedar will preserve the flavor of your cigar. If you buy a decent one, you'll definitely want to get what you payed for.

  • I'm 16 and I am already addicted to cigars lol.

  • try 14 lmfao

  • Cant get addicted to cigars, unless you inhale, which i dont not why the hell you would inhale. Thats for ciggerates(you can get mentally i guess, but not physically)

  • Are you kidding? Cigars have a lot of nicotine in them, and it differs from cigarettes in that it breaks down in saliva more readily. It gets absorbed in the lining in your mouth, but risk of addiction is only lower because cigar smokers smoke occasionally. You'd have to smoke 1-2 cigars daily to get addicted.

  • dude you can get addicted to anything good

  • porn is a excellent example

  • You can get addicted but not easily and inhaling does make it worse. I smoke one like once every 2 weeks but not much more then that.

  • its killing me seeing someone light a cigar incorrectly. dont let the flame touch the cigar, it will overburn the tobacco!

  • lmao at the song, that guy is a real fat cat

  • Whenever someone seems me, a relative nonsmoker, smoking a cigar they always get really weird and instant that I must not take it down. I do anyway and do not see what they fear.

  • That guy just murdered that cigar. This is awful. NOT THE WAY TO LIGHT AT ALL. BOOOO!!!

  • fail... supposed to use a wooden match

  • nothing like using a good Cuesta Rey cedar match. This guy has it all wrong, never suck the flame into the cigar. As my grandpa taught me...a gentleman always takes the band off of the cigar when smoking it.

  • use a wooden match it keeps the flavor lighters fumes intertwine with the tobacco making the flavor not as strong and tasty

  • I think the best way is to use a match, not a lighter

  • you shouldnt use a lighter because of the fluid, its better to light up a piece of oak and then use it to light up the cigar, and for the dud from the woods, cigars are not supposed to be for inhaling, if you want to inhale, then smoke cigarrettes, in cigars you look for the taste in the mouth. ps: oak is sold in cigar shops, at least the good ones and if you dont have oak, then use matches but wait for the phosphorus to ran out and use only the wood, its difficult though not imposible.

  • Not heard of using oak before, but a strip of Spanish Cedar is very common. Some people use the cedar strips from tubos. Nice tip about waiting for the phosporous to burn off the match before bringing it to the cigar.

  • nice vid, but after u get it going give it little blow

  • whats the song plz

  • Never let the Flame of the lighter touch the Cigar. You do not want to let eh Flame touch the Cigar.

  • i agree that not the best way to do it

  • This IS NOT the best way to light a cigar. It is supposed to be toasted, and you're most certianly not supposed to be sucking the flame into the cigar.

  • There's a few more steps :-)

    Nice shoppe. Where?

  • Great song. I think I might start cigarillos for a start then progress up the ladder.

  • yeah... i will smoke cigars and cigarillos on occasion when i am old enough!!!

  • i only inhale a small puff every once in a while when i enjoy a cigar.

  • I smoke cigarillos. I've smoked some cigarettes but what the hell - cigarillos is much better. Of course I like cigars to. Smoking a cigarette is like smoking trash for me nowdays. The taste is disgusting if you COMPARE to cigarillos and cigars.

I don't waste my money on crap such cigarettes, especialy ''Corner'' wich is cheap shit. I prefer a cigar or a cigarillo, relax and sit back

  • Thats right DONT inhale cigars!

Sit back relax an enjoy PUFFS =)

  • man just dont inhale cigars..it'll kill u

  • im not dead yet

  • I've inhaled a few times and it felt like my head was going to float off of my body

  • @SorthNarolina

Yeah, inhaling is not very nice. I have only tried one time and I won't do it agian. However, cigars and cigarillos is all about tasting, relaxing and have a good time with my friends - For me.

  • @SorthNarolina

  • The way you open the end is not that important, as long as you can smoke it without a problem everything is fine. (of course it should be a clean cut so the wrapper stays on)

Most important for Matters of Taste is the Flame you lite it with.

Gas-Liters are a good way, because you barely taste it. Only in the beginning a little.

Zippos are just horrible ! Makes a grand cigar taste like fuel penetrantly.

Best way in my experience is a liter-stick. Which is a small stripe of wood, lit by anything.

  • Hello everyone I would like to invite everyone to try my personal hand rolled cigars. I was born in Santa Clara, Cuba. I rolled for the Romeo Y Julieta cigar factory for 13 years and have now come to California. My cigars are medium to full-bodied and are made of cuban seed tobacco thats been harvested and aged in the dominican republic. Please email for prices.

  • where can you buy a cutter?

  • like any smoke shop/cigar shop

  • do you have to have a cutter? can you use something like that you might find around the house or sum shit.....?

  • You don't want to use a knife or anything, because you could risk unraveling the cigar. Some people just bite it, but, like I said, you could unravel the cigar. You don't want to taste the filler, only the wrapper. Buy a cutter. As for how to light it, it depends on your preference. Some like matches, others, like this man, like hi-tech butane lighters, some just Bics or Zippos. I prefer matches, just because they are less likey to actually catch the cigar onfire, which you don't want to do.

  • you can take a needle and poke like 10 holes in the mouth end of it if you dont have a cutter

  • when lighting a cigar your not supposed to let the flame touch the cigar foot, should be just above the flame but not touching.

  • You're right, touching the flame to the cigar causes it to have a bad taste and may catch the cigar on fire. Just above the visible flame is the hottest part of the flame, anyway.

  • am i obligated to have a cigar cutter?

  • now people shut the fuck up i smoke cigars every weekend and he did it right so get over yourselfs u no nothings dont criticize and say shit bout people sayin they didnt do it right if u have never lit 1 b4

  • why he take cutted side to his mouth?

  • You cut both sides, one side to light, the other side for the smoke to travel through

  • With one execption, every cigar I've smoked is only capped on one end. It takes extra effort to cap a cigar, so there's really not reason (other that asthetics) to cap both end. So the only end you need to cut if the end that you put in your mouth.

The reason for the cap is cleat if you take a strip of paper and try ti wrap it around a pencil. Once you get to the end of the paper strip, then what? You need a cap to keep the paper (wrapper) from coming unraveled.

  • He did a bad job lighting it.. It's supposed to be lit evenly not the way he did it.

  • You have no idea what you're talking about...

It's perfect the way he did...

  • No.. the cigar has to be lit evenly. You can see at 2:17-2:18, the cigar has not been lit evenly, and it has started to burn one "side" more. It can be corrected easily, but this guy rushed lighting the cigar. The most crucial part.

  • Somone know wich song it is? Thnx

  • If you know the song please say!

  • Song 1: Tabaco Con Melao

Song 1: De Cigarro En Cigarro

    Artist: Cuarteto Tiempo

    Album: Cigar Music

    (Same album and artist)
