if referees had given down signal just 1 sec b4 dropping the bar we wud hv had a new world record.....harsh referees his feet were in line bar was motionless ....it was 99% good lift 1% his bad luck
If I would be his coach, I would spend more time getting his snatch better, and not to concentrate in his c&j's which obviously is already superb. I agree with chief that the lift was probably a bit front but it's hard to see from this angle. And for his cleans, those are textbook stuff. Flawless. But he lost the overall already in the snatch.
Excellent strength for cleaning and recovering. Nice technique in jerk. Insufficient strength for supporting the load. I've heard that some O lifters can military press less than 50% their best CJ. I find it hard to believe I guess because I was a press specialist. 230 strict @152 free bar but my top clean? I'd be embarrassed to say. Ex-gymnast I was a bit top heavy whereas this lifter I think needs more muscle upstairs. VARBANOV remains king 215.5 at 75 and no trouble at all holding it.
@skirts365 To clarify the context I should have said 230 pounds at 152 pounds and Varbanov 475 at 165. I don't see the press being brought back. But it should be. And make it strict, seated with dumb bells no curly-fry back bending.
@skirts365 look as arsen zlatev, he did 225 at 82.5 with arms the size of tooth-picks.
The amount of muscle in the upper body was not the reason he missed the lift, i believe it was still slightly in front, and it seems like Sa has trouble sticking his head through like most lifters do.
But to say that he needs to press more to make this weight is ridiculous
@chiefwr88 Yea he does kinda have trouble sticking his head through. Also notice that during the split, I find that he is in quite an unstable position as his back is extremely arched when he recovers. IMO if his back was "straight" he would have an easier time recovering.
@chiefwr88 Asparuhov was a better example 12 inch upper arms 496 jerk. You read your conclusion into what I said. Nevertheless the stronger the shoulders and triceps are the less struggle to hold a limit jerk.
and he put 212 to let lu xiaojun go first which he failed 211

he was lighted because he didnt properly recover in jerk

if only he attempted 211. Still a WR but no silver medal.
I think the one judge didn't like how early Sa jerked it because the bar was clearly oscillating.

He's only 24. If he can stay in the 77 class, he'll eventually get it.
