I've often thought of a "Gerald Bull" type gun/ rifle on a much smaller scale, which seems like what you're going for, that can be assembled. Long barrel=less propellant=just as much range as high velocity=less muzzle blast = nice suppression. A really "niche? type weapon. Shit you develop a good one that checks out and has talking point on apps, and you get BIG contracts after a few protos are made!
I'm going to build somthing using nail gun primers, that is a breech loader, and use a airgun barrel that will shoot steel pellets. Where do you get steel pellets anyway?
can you e-mail me some pictures, close-ups etc? and if you have any plans that would rock. Is it black powder? Can you give me a quick description on how you built it?
dont read this cause it really works. you will get kissed on the nearest possible friday by the love of ur life. Tomorow will be the the best day of ur life. However if u dont post this the comment to atleast 3 videos u will die within 2 days. Now youve started reading this dont stop. This is sooo scary. send this to 5 videos in 143 minutes. When ur done press F6 and ur crushes name will appear in big letters on the screen. this is sooo scary
do you mean lathe? im a metal fabricator and i've been wanting to try making a homemade rifle but i need a lathe. can you make bore rifling with a lathe?
No. i don't know how they do it or what machine they use. The best option is to get a rifle barrel but a smooth rifle is not bad ether. Plus you can make it a huge caliber. and if you want more accuracy make miniature grenades for ammo. I made a couple from aluminum and they went straight tru a car. I built a small rifle out of a air gun barrel that fires special steel air gun pellets that works beautify. the round is small but causes incredible damage on impact do to its shape.you cud try that.
pyro i believe the machine your refering too is called a lathe. good looking weapons there i am working on a homemade percussion musket myself although i use thick walled steel tubing. and if you are making your own shells might i suggest getting some soft brass and dishing your own brass cartridges? it is a fairly simple process and the tools required could be easily made on a lathe basically you take a brass disc and dish it then press it into progessively smaller cylinder forms.
I make the shells out of a solid piece of steel bar then drill a hole in to it about 2/3 of the way. The rest of the way i make a hole that is the right size fore the shells that they use to kill cattle whit. You can buy them without a gun license but they are actually blank cartages. thats just to ignite the gunpowder that i put in the shell whit a steel ball at the end. Thank god they are reusable. It takes forever to make one.
Do you use a drill press to go through the bar? If so, how are you able to keep the hole straight? Sounds like a pretty interesting process, how many of them have you made?
Actually i use a revolving thing that i don't know what its called in English, that i use at work. i think its called a lave or something. Its used for making a solid bar that needs different thickness in different places and stuff. It can also make threads and it can drill a hole in the exact center, but its actually the part that is spinning, not the drill. i only made then so far, but you don't really need any more.
Yeah thats a Lathe, I love that build! is it a muzzel loader, or bolt action? I would love to see some more vids of it as well as the plans or a discription on how it was built at least. I a huge improvized firearms buff and I love to build them.
I think ill leave the fire arms to Browning, taurus, mossberg,Remington, Winchester. Id rather not blow my self up. Nive gun though

What are you using for propellant? So much non combusted stuff coming out the muzzle.
Anyway, nice vid and innovative thinking. I''l bet that thing would go thru TWO

the barrel is too long, there is a point when the lenght makes it go less distance and lose power, though it will be extremely accurate

@ghillieman1911 yes you can make a barrel with a lathe you just need the right bit and a vary slow speed to get the twist right
