  • It was very emotional for my mother to see the Arrows do a run and break over our flying club, as my father was not there to see it. Click show more and read the full description it explains the run and break was landing at our Flying Club at Manston in Kent, the week before the crash.

  • Is the smoke where he crashed?

  • No it;s a normal part of their display, I wanted to show a good display not the crash. The families want to remember the good displays and the reaction to them not the crash.

  • @bgirdler911 Yes, Just wondered why the women was crying. Very Sad, I;m from Bournemouth and the crash made the town shake.. He died saving around 500 peoples life's from moving the plane from castlepoint to throop. RIP Jon. X

  • RIP Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham and Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging, thank you for all the enjoyment you gave to the many who saw he displays. RIP all the Reds who are no longer with us, and RIP all the pilots who are no longer with us.

  • click "show more" above for my full comment on the video,

  • Jon Egging had the Martin Baker mk 10 see this link below. Not all seats are rated for a zero height ejection (my father’s was not), Jon Egging’s seat was but only for near level flight, but he did not eject, he was able to get the plane from a fast steep banked turn to level when it ran across the fields, which may imply he had control but no power. The AIB would likely find evidence if it was a bird strike.

  • There are reports the relatives have been told that he would not have been able to eject because of the G forces from banking hard to level the plane to bring it into the fields.

  • The pilot has to make a choice to take his plane low enough to ensure it will crash somewhere safe, or to eject and risk the plane veers into houses or a school, or into an air display crowd in my fathers case… Witnesses say Jon turned into trees to avoid a village. And today I had to ask for a video on youtube to be removed which was saying hateful things about his widow (which they did).

  • There is a rule for a crash at an air display, you crash it on the display line, because that should be clear. The display organizer commented that my father’s plane crashed precisely on the display line.

  • I've done a fast run at 400mph very low, it's very very fast, i think Jon had time to avoid that village or eject, my guess he was able to fly the plane with one hand and release his straps and blow the cockpit, but you need two hands to eject, hero does not cover it !!! a Medal would be well deserved.

  • You'll have to search red arrow ejection if your interested as it won't let me put the link up, this relates to the comments above.
