I went from using ICD 2 to ICD 3 and it pretty much rendered my PIC unusable. The simplest programs wouldn't run and I needed to use an entire different PIC, although when we checked the PIC out it was actually running fine. I don't understand what happened.
Hi ....If u are using ICD2 for debugging PIC32, then pleeeeeeeeeeeease, upgrade to ICD3, I pretty sure that ICD3 will add a big simile on your face while debugging ....Life is very easy with ICD3 ...actually, I love and still love PIC32 as long as we have ICD3
Its certainly a lot faster to program a 24 series PIC, 4 seconds instead of a minute plus for the ICD2 .. but it currently cannot be used to power the board under test unless its being programmed or debugged. Once programming is complete the Vdd shuts down, an option is provided but is always greyed out at the moment. Annoying, had to go back to ICD2 for most jobs without an onboard power supply.
Changing device type is much quicker now, several seconds to set up for a different PIC family.
look nice, BUT. . . I hope it REALLY works better than older icd2 version which need some reflashing and updates on host SW (MPLAB) for true stable operation !!!

Because a competitor would just order a billion of them to bankrupt the company.
It's pretty clear they are selling these things pretty much at cost.
