Riiiight, so a quick check of wikipedia (yay for wikipedia) reveals the Eurozone has nearly 11k tonnes of gold and the US 8k tonnes (that's tonnes, not tons, horrible metric vs imperial confusion there), so China needs to buy a hell of a lot more gold to be up there with the big boys. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Many had predicted the crash back in 2002, but thought it would happen around 2004, but then D blocked R oversight of Fannie, Fred, propping things up, ignored S. 190 in 2005, and generally botched all attempts to fix it on through 2008. Great one Fever I Am, but you forgot one!! Search the news for China tightening it's grip on Rare Earth metals!! They want to stop exporting rare earths - but they now produce a vast majority of all rare earths on earth.
Every piece of advanced technology contains rare earth, from fancy mobile phones to laptops to lasers to cruise missiles to solar panels to motors to compact flourescent lights (get the idea?)

The world currency right now is the US $. A move away from the US $ as the sole reserve currency is not the end of the world for other countries, just for the US. The highest man on the totem poll will fall the hardest. The power will remain in the same hands: IMF, World Bank, Federal Reserve. Countries that can anchor their currency to something of value (gold) will probably rule the world via the SDR's. The golden rule: whoever owns the gold- makes the rules.

Riiiight, so a quick check of wikipedia (yay for wikipedia) reveals the Eurozone has nearly 11k tonnes of gold and the US 8k tonnes (that's tonnes, not tons, horrible metric vs imperial confusion there), so China needs to buy a hell of a lot more gold to be up there with the big boys. Just thought I'd put that out there.
I also sold Germany short of 1,000 tonnes of gold in my last post. Sorry Germany, you have 3.5k tonnes now apparently. =)
