Is this being played right now in the closed beta? I played the original mythos beta from flagship and loved it, I would love to get my hands on this. Is there a release date yet?
This game is being butchered if they made it look like that ugly 3d generic crap from the awesome 2D Diablo style. What the hell were the developers thinking? Game will fail now without a doubt. Don't think most people get why their showing the 3D game play, its because that's what they turned it into another crappy 3d mmo. I mean Diablo is still being played to this day because of its unique style to all the other lame rpgs out and this was similar but mmo which means it would be popular.
The gameplay is still the same. But you can change the camera, and it's 3D(it's always been 3D) And you can move with the WASD, or point and click.
It also looks like it'll be open world now. Before it was just gonna be instance based. You should go to their website and read some about it/look at screenshots before you jump to conclusions.

Could be alot better but I prefer trailers like this that actually show gameplay.
Alot of game advertisements now avoid gameplay shots because their game is not as attractive. And they will stick that horrible sticker at the bottom saying
"Graphical representation of Gameplay"
Seriously....what the hell is that line meant to mean. lol. Even if the graphics were represented like the big trailer movies...It still wouldn't look like what they had done...hmm
and what I'm talking about is the trailer itself, the cutting and editing is horrible.
It's got some horrible clips that are about 1 or 2 seconds long just flashing about showing nothing important. The camera goes through the character at some points, the character is walking about not even hitting the enemies attacking him, sometimes he's even shooting at the wall instead of the enemies and overall it's just really badly made.
dont worry it wont be grindy it will be the same game but tweaked to fit well for a Online game and its out i think in korea already same with HellGate London as thats still around well the online portion is for korea
It's funny how people trash all the new games coming out where they are not restricted on playing all of them anyway. I'll try this out when it comes out. If I didn't like it I'll move to another game. Simple as that.
It must be painful for Runic to watch this video. The similarities with Torchlight are staggering similar. It seems to me the folks at Flagship Seattle (now Runic) put a lot of work into the game and then had the work snatched away because parent company Flagship fucked up. :<
Flagship didn't fail at making Mythos... it was never intended to be a game release... it was a testing ground for networking services that were used in Hellgate: London.
According to the guys at Runic, Torchlight IS the realization of what they envisioned Mythos to be had they designed it as a game to be released.
That being said, it'll be interesting to see what they plan to do with the use of both Open 3D (i.e. WoW) and Isometric (i.e. Diablo/Torchlight) camera views in caves and dungeons.
FSS didn't fail at making Mythos, but they WERE intending to release it. Not at first, when they had one guy playing around with it, but certainly in the later stages.
But they did say all along that the engine didn't work well with Mythos, and that TL's was a huge improvement. Still, the gameplay in Mythos is still infinitely superior and, until the TL MMO goes into beta, my interest lie with Redbana.

Yeah flagship studios (that created diablo 1 and 2) started to work on mythos but had to little money and failed. Mythos then got bought up and a couple of guys from flagship studio created RunicGames.

Torchlight is 95% FATE clone and 5% new concepts.
Mythos was leaps and bounds removed from FATE
